  • The purpose of this study was to identify basic data for the health fare of normal pregnant women. The number of subjects was 779 pregnant women who received prenatal care in two University hospitals. The data, which were collected from June to October, 1998. and used the questionnaire “Symptom Table on Fatigue Perception” designed by the Research Committee of the Industial Fatigue in Hygienic. Association of Japan Industry. The collected data were scored by use of means and standard deviations according to the subjective symptoms of fatigue and each item as an independent variable was analysed by t-test and ANOVA test. The results are as follows : 1) Degree of subjective fatigue showed as an average of 1.81. Fatigue as physical symptoms had the highest score with 2.09. followed by neuro-sensory symptoms, 1.69 and psychological symptoms had the lowest score 1.66. 2) With the respect to the general characteristics of the subjects. there were statiscally significant difference in experience of pregnancy(t=-2.286, p=.023). wanted pregnancy(t=-2.935, p=.004), parity(t=-2.429, p=.015), sleeping time(F=3.478, p=.031). and presence of other child(t=2.347, p=0.19).

  • The population of diabetes is continuously increasing because of the economic development and the lifestyle modification. If diabetes become chronic condition, it can cause various complications. Among many other complications, diabetic foot is the most fatal issue since it may require amputation of the legs. Diabetic foot has three different types such as neuropathic, neuro-ischemic and ischemic. Among these types, patients of neuropathic foot experience sensory abnormality. Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) is used for diagnosing neuropathic foot but this method uses strong electric stimulus to cause severe pain to the patients In this study, two channel photo-plethysmography was used as noninvasive screening tool for distinguish neuropathic foot and normal group by observing blood flow of both finger and toe simultaneously.

  • '産後風(chan hou feng)' is a postpartum pain-syndrome which caused by inadequate postpartum health care. Recently '産後風(chan hou feng)' contain some symptoms in relate with dystonia like sleep disorder, tiredness, depression, anxiety etc. According to The International Association for the Study of Pain(IASP) "Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotinal experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage". This definition means the pain is related to emotional state as well as physical, Physical and emotional changes are common after childbirth, which can cause pain. The important point in treating its '産後風(chan hou feng)' is that the patient in the postpartum period.

  • Clinical therapist use neurological examination to acquire the necessary information from the patients who is neurological damaged. It is necessary to have enough neurological knowledge and clinical experience to collect useful data. Neurological disease of symptom is well correspond with anatomical location and function, therefore neurological examination is one of the powerful tool to diagnosis. These tools will be a great help to clinical therapist to evaluate the patients and helps to select most pertinent treatment approach to patients. Neurological examination can classified and evaluate with Mental Status Examination, Cranial Nerves Examination, Motor and Sensory System Examination, Reflexes, Gait and Station Evaluation, Special Maneuver. Generally, various neurological examination tools are used by therapist in clinical field. Understanding of method of Neurological examination tools and understanding of result of examination from patients's response is very important. Therefore, this research will help to understand clinical meaning by neurological examination.

  • Brachial plexus injury is a potential complication of a brachial plexus block or vessel puncture. It results from direct needle trauma, neurotoxicity of injection agents and hematoma formation. The neurological presentation may range from minor transient pain to severe sensory disturbance or motor loss with poor recovery. The management includes conservative treatment and surgical exploration. Especially if a hematoma forms, it should be removed promptly. Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and adept skills are crucial to avoid nerve injuries. Whenever possible, the patient should not be heavily sedated and should be encouraged to immediately inform the doctor of any experience of numbness/paresthesia during the nerve block or vessel puncture.

  • This paper presents a design experience of a control language for coordination of a multi-robot system. To effectively program job commands, a Petrinet-type Graphical Robot Language(PGRL) is proposed, where some functions, such as concurrency and synchronization, for coordination among tasks can be easily programmed. In our system, the proposed task commands of PGRL are implemented by employing formal model languages, which are composed of three modules, sensory, data handling, and action module. It is expected that by using our proposed PGRL and formal languages, one can easily describe a job or task, and hence can effectively operate a complex real-time and concurrent system. The control system is being implemented by using VME-based 32-bit microprocessor boards for supervisory, each module controller(arm, hand, leg, sensor data processing module) and a real time multi-tasking operating system(VxWorks). • A neural network(NN) mechanism is proposed to modify the gait of a biped robot that walks on sloping surface using sensory inputs. The robot starts walking on a surface with no priori knowledge of the inclination of the surface. By accumulating experience during walking, the robot improves its walking gait and finally forms a gait that is adapted to the surface inclination. A neural controller is proposed to control the gait which has 72 reciprocally inhibited and excited neurons. PI control is used for position control, and the neurons are trained by a reinforcement learning mechanism. Experiments of static gait learning and pseudo dynamic learning are performed to show the validity of the proposed reinforcement learning mechanism.

  • Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that comprises of heightened absorption in focal attention, dissociation of peripheral awareness, and enhanced responsiveness to social cues. Hypnosis has a long tradition of effectiveness in controlling somatic symptoms, such as pain. Pain, the most common symptom in clinical practice, is a multi-dimensional experience, which includes sensory-discriminative, affective-emotional, cognitive and behavioral components. There is a growing recognition for hypnosis and related techniques in pain management. Psychological approaches to pain control, such as hypnosis, can be highly effective analgesics, but are underused in Korea. In this article, we would like to review the basic concepts of hypnosis, the mechanism, and the outcome data of the analgesic effects of hypnosis, and also, its limitations.

  • Interactive art is an art form that closely links art creators and art participants. It has been doomed with advanced technology from the very beginning. Virtual Reality is a technology which born in the background of the maturity of computer technology. Its birth has brought immeasurable possibilities for interactive art, especially the interactivity and multi-sensory experience. This paper discusses the current development status of interactive art in the field of interactive art through the characteristics of virtual reality technology and the future development of this technology will bring to interactive art.

  • This study proposed 'Body Food,' an interactive tactile mat that provides interactive visual responses and induces physical activity in young children at the time of developing tactile and five senses, along with the touch of various stimuli. The product combines fiber materials and digital content to achieve a variety of visual and auditory responses in real time when children touch the fabric. User tests were conducted for 4-year-olds and the result was positive in terms of physical exercise and artistic experience, but quantitative testing is required to generalize it. In the future, we will complement physical and digital contents to realize more complete product.
