Most of existing routing methods in wireless sensor networks to counter the local eavesdropping-based packet-tracing deal with a single asset and suffer from the packet-delivery latency as they prefer to take a separate path of many hops for each packet being sent. Recently, the author proposed a routing method, GSLP-w(GPSR-based Source-Location Privacy with crew size w), that enhances location privacy of the packet-originating node(i.e., active source) in the presence of multiple assets, yet taking a path of not too long. In this paper, we present a refined routing(i.e., next-hop selection) procedure of it and empirically study privacy strength and delivery latency with varying the crew size w(i.e., the number of packets being sent per path). It turns out that GSLP-w offers the best privacy strength when the number of packets being sent per path is randomly chosen from the range [$1,h_{s-b}/4$] and that further improvements on the privacy are achieved by increasing the random walk length TTLrw or the probability prw that goes into random walk(where, $h_{s-b}$ is the number of hops of the shortest path between packet-originating node s and sink b).

Based on the differential electrode equilibria approach, potentiometric YSZ sensors with semiconducting oxide electrodes for CO detection are developed. To improve the selectivity, sensitivity and response-time of the sensor, our strategy includes (a) selection of an oxide with a semiconducting response to CO, (b) addition of other semiconducting materials, (c) addition of a catalyst (Pd), (d) utilization of combined p- and n-type electrodes in one sensor configuration, and (e) optimization of operating temperatures. Excellent sensing performance is obtained by a novel device structure incorporating $La_2CuO_4$ electrodes on one side and $TiO_2$-based electrodes on opposite substrate faces with Pt contacts. The resulting response produces additive effects for the individual $La_2CuO_4$ and $TiO_2$-based electrodes voltages, thereby realizing an even higher CO sensitivity. The device also is highly selective to CO versus NO with minor sensitivity for NO concentration, compared to a notably large CO sensitivity.

Polishing is one of the important methods in manufacturing of Si wafers and in thinning of completed device wafers. This study will report the characteristic of wafer according to processing time, machining speed and pressure which have major influence on the abrasion of Si wafer polishing. It is possible to evaluation of wafer abrasion by load cell and infrared temperature sensor. The characteristic of wafer surface according to processing condition is selected to use a result data that measure a pressure, machining speed, and the processing time. This result is appeared by the characteristic of wafer surface in machining condition. Through that, the study cans evaluation a wafer characteristic in variable machining condition. It is important to obtain optimal condition. Thus the optimum condition selection of ultra precision Si wafer polishing using load cell and infrared temperature sensor. To evaluate each machining factor, use a data through each sensor. That evaluation of abrasion according to variety condition is selected to use a result data that measure a pressure, machining speed, and the processing time. And optimum condition is selected by this result.
This paper presents an improved identification algorithm of active magnetic bearing rotor systems considering sensor and actuator dynamics. An AMB rotor system has both real and complex poles so that it is very hard to identify them together. In previous research, a linear transformation through a fictitious proportional feedback was used in order to shift the real poles close to the imaginary axis. However, the identification result highly depends on the fictitious feedback gain, and it is not easy to identify the additional dynamics including sensor and actuators at the same time. First, this paper discusses the necessity and a selection criterion of the fictitious feedback gain. An appropriate feedback gain minimizes dominant SVD(Singular Value Decomposition) error through maximizing rank deficiency. Second, more improvement in the identification is achieved through separating the common additional dynamics in all elements of frequency response matrix. The feasibility of the proposed identification algorithm is proved with two theoretical AMB rotor models. Finally, the proposed scheme is compared with previous identification methods using experimental data, and a great improvement in model quality and large amount of time saving can be achieved with the proposed method.
According to recent studies by scientists about how to search for food, homes and the mates, it is found that the gradient information plays a key role. From cells to insects and large animals, they mostly either have special sensing organism or use a strategy to measure the gradient. Use of a perturbation as an additional input is introduced for sensor signal processing in order to get the gradient information. Different from typical approach, which calculates the gradient from differentiation, the proposed processing is done by a form of integration, thus it is very robust to noise. Discrete time domain analyses are given for one, two and three input functions for the estimation of the gradients. The amplitude and the frequency of the perturbation are two important parameters for this approach. A quantitative index to measure the effects of the amplitude is developed based on the linear regression analysis. The frequency of the perturbation is to be selected high enough to finish one period of the perturbation before the property is changed significantly with respect to time. Another quantitative index is proposed for guiding the selection of the frequency.

A wireless image sensor node collecting image data for environmental monitoring or surveillance requires a large amount of energy to transmit the huge amount of video data. Even though solar energy can be used to overcome the energy constraint, since the collected energy is also limited, an efficient energy management scheme for transmitting a large amount of video data is needed. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the number of blackout nodes and increase the amount of gathered data by selecting an appropriate video coding method according to the energy condition of the node in a solar-powered wireless video sensor network. This scheme allocates the amount of energy that can be used over time in order to seamlessly collect data regardless of night or day, and selects a high compression coding method when the allocated energy is large and a low compression coding when the quota is low. Thereby, it reduces the blackout of the relay node and increases the amount of data obtained at the sink node by allowing the data to be transmitted continuously. Also, if the energy is lower than operating normaly, the frame rate is adjusted to prevent the energy exhaustion of nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme suppresses the energy exhaustion of the relay node and collects more data than other schemes.
This paper presents the design of a routing metric for energy-efficient and low-delay path selection and a new routing protocol utilizing the metric in duty-cycyled wireless sensor networks. The new routing metric based on duty cycle, EDW, can reduce the energy and delay of transmission paths, which represents total waiting time from source to destination due to duty cycle. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new multipath routing protocol based on cross-layer information utilizing the new routing metric, and simulation results show that the proposed protocol shows better performance of end-to-end delay and energy consumption.

For real-time wireless sensor network applications, it is essential to provide different levels of quality of service (QoS) such as reliability, low latency, and fault-tolerant traffic control. To meet these requirements, an (m,k)-firm based real-time routing protocol has been proposed in our prior work, including a novel local transmission status indicator called local DBP (L_DBP). In this paper, a fault recovery scheme for (m,k)-firm real-time streams is proposed to improve the performance of our prior work, by contributing a delay-aware forwarding candidates selection algorithm for providing restricted redundancy of packets on multipath with bounded delay in case of transmission failure. Each node can utilize the evaluated stream DBP (G_DBP) and L_DBP values as well as the deadline information of packets to dynamically define the forwarding candidate set. Simulation results show that for real-time service, it is possible to achieve both reliability and timeliness in the fault recovery process, which consequently avoids dynamic failure and guarantees meeting the end-to-end QoS requirement.
This paper presents a fast switching direct torque control (FS-DTC) using only a single DC-link current sensor. In FS-DTC, six new active voltage complex space vectors (CSVs) are synthesized by the conventional active voltage space vectors (SVs). The corresponding sectors are rotated in the anticlockwise direction by 30 degrees. A selection table is defined to select the CSVs. Based on the "Different Phase Mode", the output sequence of the selected CSV is optimized. Accordingly, a reconstruction method is proposed to acquire the phase currents. The core of the FS-DTC is that all of the three phase currents can be reliably reconstructed during every two sampling periods, which is the result of the fast switching between different phases. The errors between the reconstructed and actual currents are strictly limited in one sampling period. The FS-DTC has the advantages of the standard DTC scheme such as simple structure, quick torque response and robustness. As can be seen in the analysis, the FS-DTC can be thought of as an equivalent standard DTC scheme with 86.6% of the maximum speed, 173.2% of the torque ripple, and 115% of the response time of the torque. Based on a dSPACE DS1103 controller, the FS-DTC is implemented in an induction machine drive system. The results verify the effectiveness of the FS-DTC.
The wireless sensor networks (WSNs) became a very essential tool in borders and military zones surveillance, for this reason specific applications have been developed. Surveillance is usually accomplished through the deployment of nodes in a random way providing heterogeneous topologies. However, the process of the identification of all nodes located on the network's outer edge is very long and energy-consuming. Before any other activities on such sensitive networks, we have to identify the border nodes by means of specific algorithms. In this paper, a solution is proposed to solve the problem of energy and time consumption in detecting border nodes by means of node selection. This mechanism is designed with several starter nodes in order to reduce time, number of exchanged packets and then, energy consumption. This method consists of three phases: the first one is to detect triggers which serve to start the mechanism of boundary nodes (BNs) detection, the second is to detect the whole border, and the third is to exclude each BN from the routing tables of all its neighbors so that it cannot be used for the routing.
