  • With advances in sensor technology, current researches on the pertinent techniques are actively directed toward the way which enables the USN computing service. For many applications using sensor networks, the incoming data are by nature characterized as high-speed, continuous, real-time and infinite. Due to such uniqueness of sensor data characteristics, for some instances a finite-sized buffer may not accommodate the entire incoming data, which leads to inevitable loss of data, and requirement for fast processing makes it impossible to conduct a thorough investigation of data. In addition to the potential problem of loss of data, incoming data in its raw form may exhibit high degree of complexity which evades simple query or alerting services for capturing and extracting useful information. Furthermore, as traditional mining techniques are developed to handle fixed, static historical data, they are not useful and directly applicable for analyzing the sensor data. In this paper, (1) describe how three mining techniques (sensor data outlier analysis, sensor pattern analysis, and sensor data prediction analysis) are appropriate for the USN middleware structure, with their application to the stream data in ocean environment. (2) Another proposal is a middleware structure based on USN environment adaptive to above mining techniques. This middleware structure includes sensor nodes, sensor network common interface, sensor data processor, sensor query processor, database, sensor data mining engine, user interface and so on.

  • In this paper, a system with sensor network security mechanism which can be applied to home network structure is designed and it is implemented on a virtual network of a home network middleware. The basic structure of home networking middleware supports one-to-one (unicast) or broadcast communication mode between the lookup server and service nodes on the network. Confidentiality and authentication are key security factors of the one-to-one communication and user authentication is crucial for broadcasting mode. One of the sensor network's security techniques SPINS consists of SNEP and ${\mu}TESLA$. The SNEP ensures confidentiality and authentication, and ${\mu}TESLA$ provides broadcast authentication. We propose a SPIN based home network middleware and it is implemented by using the CBC-MAC for MAC generation, the counter mode (CTR) for message freshness, the pseudo random function (PRF) and RC5 as encryption algorithm. The implementation result shows that an attacker cannot decrypt the message though he gets the secure key because of CTR mode. In addition, we confirmed that a received message of the server is authenticated using MAC.

  • The sensor nodes of sensor network system are capable of wireless communication with sink nodes. They also acquire and transmit sensor data in broad region where people cannot access easily. However, the transmission of redundant data from sensor nodes reduces the lifetime of the entire system and substantial amount of resulted data needs to be resorted before implementing them to the specific applications. In this paper, the mobile agent middleware to eliminate the redundant sensor data is designed and implemented. In the proposed system, the mobile agent visits the destination sensor nodes according to the migration list offered by the meta table in the name space of the naming agent, eliminates the redundant sensor data corresponding to user condition, and acquires and transmits sensor data according to the purpose and needs. Thus, the excess transmission of the sensor data is avoided and the lifetime of the entire system can be extended. Moreover, the experiments using the mobile agent middleware with the conditions and limitations that are possible in real situation ore done to verify the successful elimination of the redundant sensor data and the efficiency of the data acquisition. Also, we show the potential applicability of the mobile agent middleware in various active sensor networks through the active rule based mobile agent middleware or the interaction with the active rule system.

  • Since the development of the Distributed Hash Tables (DHTs), the distributed lookup services are one of the hot topics in the networking area. The main reason of this popularity is the simplicity of the lookup structure. However, the simple key based search mechanism makes the so called "keyword" based search difficult if not impossible. Thus, the applicability of the DHTs is limited to certain areas. In this paper. we find that DHTs can be used as the ubiquitous sensor network (USN) metadata lookup service across a large number of sensor networks. The popularity of the Ubiquitous Sensor Network has motivated the development of the USN middleware services for the sensor networks. One of the key functionalities of the USN middleware service is the lookup of the USN metadata, by which users get various information about the sensor network such as the type of the sensor networks and/or nodes, the residual of the batteries, the type of the sensor nodes. Traditional distributed hash table based lookup systems are good for one sensor network. However, as the number of sensor network increases, the need to integrate the lookup services of many autonomous sensor networks so that they can provide the users an integrated view of the entire sensor network. In this paper, we provide a hybrid lookup model, in which the autonomous lookup services are combined together and provide seamless services across the boundary of a single lookup services. We show that the hybrid model can provide far better lookup performance than a single lookup system.

  • The Application Model in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) consist of wireless sensor network based on sensor hardwares which is combined the micro-controller, chipset for wireless communication and sensors, middleware for dealing with data processing and user application for common service. Applications in WSN have been applied for environmental monitoring, smart factory and have concentrated the services based on remote monitoring applications which is difficult to watch the situation by human. In this paper, we described the construction model for applying for the Ubiquitous disaster prevention system and deal with its conformity. The proposed system includes the selecting the wireless sensor hardware, routing technique for u-Disaster Prevention, composition of middleware and web-interface for application services.

  • The current middleware, managing the bridges equipped whit sensor networks on real-time basis, merely processes the data collected from the sensor networks, In this study, we develop a very versatile middleware which mediates between sensor nodes and exclusive applications or web browsers. It collects and processes the data from the network. On database failures, it stores the data in a file and sends them to the database at a proper speed considering the rate of the database system when the database is restored. Lastly, in order to notice abnormality of the bridge to the operators when some problems occur in the bridge, we propose a mechanism for producing alarm signals.

  • Recently, there has been much interest in the middleware that can smoothly acquire and analyze Geosensor information which includes sensor readings, location, and its surrounding spatial information. In relation to development of the middleware, researchers have proposed various algorithms for energy-efficient information filtering in Geosensor networks and have proposed Geosensor web technologies which can efficiently mash up sensor readings with spatial information on the web, also. The filtering algorithms and Geosensor Web technologies have contributions on energy-efficiency and OpenAPI, however the algorithms and technologies could not support easy and rapid development of u-GIS applications that need various Geosensor networks. Therefore, we propose a new Geosensor network middleware that can dramatically reduce the time and cost required for development of u-GIS applications that integrate heterogeneous Geosensor networks. The proposed middleware has several merits of being capable of acquiring heterogeneous Geosensor information using the standard SWE and an extended SQL, optimally performing various attribute and spatial operators, and easily integrating various Geosensor networks. Finally, we clarify our middleware's distinguished features by developing a prototype that can monitor environmental information in realtime using spatial information and various sensor readings of temperature, humidity, illumination, imagery, and location.

  • Recently, flexible communication is issued because of implementation of both communicable small and equipment wireless networks environment. Similarly diverse small equipment, from wireless LAN to sensor, have different data format as network access. So, middleware that support flexible communication is necessary. Also it is important that information format of diverse sensor(raw data) converts to information usable in application.
