Forest vertical structure is vital for comprehending ecosystems and biodiversity, in addition to fundamental forest information. Currently, the forest vertical structure is predominantly assessed via an in-situ method, which is not only difficult to apply to inaccessible locations or large areas but also costly and requires substantial human resources. Therefore, mapping systems based on remote sensing data have been actively explored. Recently, research on analyzing and classifying images using machine learning techniques has been actively conducted and applied to map the vertical structure of forests accurately. In this study, Sentinel-2 and digital surface model images were obtained on two different dates separated by approximately one month, and the spectral index and tree height maps were generated separately. Furthermore, according to the acquisition time, the input data were separated into cases 1 and 2, which were then combined to generate case 3. Using these data, forest vetical structure mapping models based on random forest, support vector machine, and extreme gradient boost(XGBoost)were generated. Consequently, nine models were generated, with the XGBoost model in Case 3 performing the best, with an average precision of 0.99 and an F1 score of 0.91. We confirmed that generating a forest vertical structure mapping model utilizing bi-seasonal data and an appropriate model can result in an accuracy of 90% or higher.

The image data amount is increasing rapidly that used geography, sea information etc. with great development of a remote sensing technology using artificial satellite. Therefore, people need automatic method that use image processing description than macrography for analysis remote sensing image. In this paper, we propose that acquire texture information to use GLCM(Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix) in red tide area of artificial satellite remote sensing image, and detects red tide area by PCA(principal component analysis) automatically from this data. Method by sea color that one feature of remote sensing image of existent red tide area detection was most. but in this paper, we changed into 2 principal component accumulation images using GLCM's texture feature information 8. Experiment result, 2 principal component accumulation image's variance percentage is 90.4%. We compared with red tide area that use only sea color and It is better result.

Compressive sensing has proved that a signal can be restored from less samples than the Nyquist rate. Reducing the required data rate is essential for a variety of fields including compression, transmission, and storage. It has been made lots of attempt to apply the compressive sensing theory into data intensive fields, such as image processing which needs to cover 4K and 8K pictures. In this paper, an image acquisition algorithm based on compressive sensing is proposed. It combines DCT, which can compact the energy of a image into a few coefficients, and the Noiselet transform, which is incoherent with DCT. The DCT coefficients represent the coarse structure of the images while the Noiselet information holds the fine details. Performance experiments with several images show that the proposed image acquisition algorithm not only outperforms the previous results, but also improves the reconstruction quality faster as the number of measurements increases.
The coastal areas around Palau Island and Tonga Island, near the Pacific equator, consist of coral reefs, mangrove and seaweed. In particular, understanding the optical properties of sea surface water in coral reef habitats helps improve the accuracy of remote sensing based habitat mapping and identify tropical ecosystem characteristics. Here, we collected spectral characteristics of sea surface water of Palau Island and Tonga Island and analyzed the concentration of suspended matters, absorption coefficient, and remote sensing reflectance to understand the seawater characteristics of the coral reef habitats. Based on the results of the suspended matter concentration analysis, we developed and verified an empirical algorithm to derive the concentration from satellite data using remote sensing reflectance of three bands, 555, 625, 660 nm, showed a high determinant coefficient, 0.98. In conclusion, coral reef habitats in tropical regions are characterized by CASE-I water in terms of the marine optics with oligotrophic properties, and require monitoring using continuous collection and analysis of field data.
This paper covers the development of a highly portable and low cost SPOT image data receiving system. We followed two design approaches. One is the software-based approach by which most of the real-time processing is handled by software. With the complete software-based design, it is simple to add a function for receiving any additional satellite data. Satellite-specific format handlers including error correction, decompression and decryption can easily be accommodated. On the other approach. we used a general hardware platform, IBM-PC and a low cost SCSI RAID (Redundant Away of Independent Disks), and therefore, we can make a low cost system.
[1] There are systematical errors associated with ionospheric influence in retrieving key atmospheric parameters from radio occultation (RO) soundings. In order to obtain better-quality retrievals, we develop a new method, hereafter called National Central University Radio Occultation (NCURO) scheme, to reduce the ionospheric influence. The excess phase is divided into two parts, namely geometric excess length and path excess length (excess length along ray path due to refractivity effect). An excess phase equation is presented and implemented in the NCURO scheme Whose performance is evaluated through comparisons with model simulation and experimental data. The model simulation is based on the use of the ionospheric model 002001 and atmospheric model NRLMSISE-OO. Results show that the NCURO scheme significantly reduces the ionospheric influence at altitudes above 70 km as does the scheme presented in the literature, and provides better corrections for the atmospheric profile. The impact of the interannual climatic variability on the vegetation sensitively appears in the timing of phenological events such as green-up, mature, and senescence. Therefore, an accurate and temporally high-resolution NDVI dataset will be required for analysis on the interannual variability of the climate-vegetation relationship. We constructed a daily 8km NDVI dataset over Eurasia based on the 8km tiled data of Pathfinder A VHRR Land (PAL) Global daily product. Cloud contamination was successfully reduced by Temporal Window Operation (TWO), which is a method to find optimized upper envelop line of the NDVI seasonal change. Based on the daily NDVI time series from 1982 to 2000, an accurate (daily) interannual change of the phenological events will be analyzed.
Biological sensory systems continuously monitor and analyze changes in real-world environments that are relevant to an animal's specific behavioral needs and goals. Understanding the sensory mechanisms and information processing principles that biological systems utilize for efficient sensory data acquisition may provide useful guidance for the design of smart-sensing systems in engineering applications. Weakly electric fish, which use self-generated electrical energy to actively sense their environment, provide an excellent model system for studying biological principles of sensory data acquisition. The electrosensory system enables these fish to hunt and navigate at night without the use of visual cues. To achieve reliable, real-time task performance, the electrosensory system implements a number of smart sensing strategies, including efficient stimulus encoding, multi-scale virtual sensor arrays, task-dependent filtering and online subtraction of sensory expectation.

This paper describes the basic principles of 3D broadcast system and proposes new 3D broadcast technology that reduce the amount of data by applying CS(Compressed Sensing). Differences between Sampling theory and the CS technology concept was described. Recently proposed CS algorithm AMP(Approximate Message Passing) and CoSaMP(Compressive Sampling Matched Pursuit) was described. Image data that compressed and restored by these algorithm was compared. Calculation time of the algorithm having a low complexity is determined.

Although sustainable development of a city should in theory be based on updated spatial information like land cover/use changes, in practice there are no effective tools to get such information. However the development of satellite and sensor technologies has increased the supply of high resolution satellite data, allowing cost-effective, multi-temporal monitoring. Especially KOMPSAT-1(KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite) acquired a large number of images of the whole Korean peninsula and covering some large cities a number of times. In this study land-use patterns and trends of Daejeon from the year 2000 to the year 2003 will be considered using land use maps which are generated by manual interpretation of multi-temporal KOMPSAT EOC imagery and to show the possibility of using high resolution satellite remote sensing data for urban analysis.
