The Fashion Bag Design using Korean Traditional Bo Patterns (한국 전통 보문양을 응용한 패션 가방 디자인)

  • This study aims to suggest a bag design focusing on the symbol of Bo patterns by developing a pattern-based textile which forms a Korean design with a modern sense of beauty as well as following the conventions of traditional cultures, a design which is based on the previous study on formative characteristics of Bo patterns. That is, seven pieces of motifs are considered as proper patterns that have a symbol suitable for the materials of bags, showing their individual beauty well. This includes Horomum (longevity and prosperity of desendants), Banjangmum (eternity and samsara), Jeonbomum (treasure and luck), Seobomum (innate good fortune), Bangseungmum (it means that things don't break in harmony with one another), Bomum (embroidered patches for royal family representing justice), and Seogakmum (blessed life). With these seven motifs, we developed textile patterns and printed them through DTP. Then, we created a fashion bag design with a high quality using durable canvas fabrics. Therefore, a fashion bag with the Bo patterns symbol has a propitious symbol designed with a propitious shape, not to mention its formative beauty. It is expected to have value as a fashion art item by being redesigned for benevolent patterns with a modern image.

New Method for Elimination of Comparator Offset Using the Fowler-Nordheim Stresses (Fowler-Nordheim 스트레스에 의한 MOS 문턱전압 이동현상을 응용한 비교기 옵셋 제거방법)

  • In this paper proposed a new method which adaptively eliminates comparator offsets using the threshold voltage shift by the Fowler-Nordheim stress. The method evaluates the sign of comparator offset and gives the FN stress to the stronger MOSFETs of the comparator, leading to offset reduction. We have used an appropriate stressing operation, named 'stress-packet', in order to converge the offset value to zero. We applied the method to the latch-type comparator which is prevalently used for DRAM bitline sense amplifier, and verified through experiments that offsets of the latch-type comparators are nearly eliminated with the stress-packet operations. We also discuss about the reliability issues that must be guaranteed for field application of this method.

  • As fast-speed of aging in modern society has led to increased concern for aging and health improvement of senior citizens, desire about having healthy living-environment has also increased. Living space for senior citizens has to play role of healing for their body feature as well as decrease in mental and psychological function. Color, as important factor that supplements degenerated sense and coping ability caused by aging, it has been revealed through modern medical science that color is effective for making nervous or calming down when it is delivered to one's nerve through sight. The purpose of this study is to suggest basic resource for color arrangement palette of living space and application method by color therapy to improve seniors' mental health by considering psychological and physical features caused by aging. First, consider psychological and physical feature of seniors and color therapy effect through previous research. Second, extract RGB value after selecting color that is helpful for their mental health by using palette from 'Korea Agency for Technology and Standards'. Third, extract other 3 colors that are similar with extracted color from 'NCS 1950 Color System'. Fourth, deduct palette of 3 color arrangement by using 'NCS Navigator' program. Lastly, extract arrangement palette for them by considering difference in visual features, and then suggest arrangement application for each palette through Computer Simulation.

  • Modem metal furniture design can be defined as the spirit of the times. It reflects the society we are living in; political and social issues, new technology and materials developed, structural solution and changes on the sense of value of a period. Therefore, the metal furniture design professionals must understand the flow of the society before designing or producing. Understanding the trends of a period is crucial for the metal furniture designers to develop the speciality. This study aims to offer the chance to understand and analyse the characteristics of contemporary metal furniture design and the cultural development. It gives the theories on the relationship between the environmental background and social factors that have influenced on the development of metal furniture design.

Feedback-Based Iterative Learning Control for MIMO LTI Systems

  • This paper proposes a necessary and sufficient condition of convergence in the $L_2$-norm sense for a feedback-based iterative learning control (ILC) system including a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) linear time-invariant (LTI) plant. It is shown that the convergence conditions for a nominal plant and an uncertain plant are equal to the nominal performance condition and the robust performance condition in the feedback control theory, respectively. Moreover, no additional effort is required to design an iterative learning controller because the performance weighting matrix is used as an iterative learning controller. By proving that the least upper bound of the $L_2$-norm of the remaining tracking error is less than that of the initial tracking error, this paper shows that the iterative learning controller combined with the feedback controller is more effective to reduce the tracking error than only the feedback controller. The validity of the proposed method is verified through computer simulations.

  • The term "Big Data" has been defined to encapsulate a broad spectrum of data sources and data formats. It is often described to be unstructured data due to its properties of variety in data formats. Even though the traditional methods of structuring data in rows and columns have been reinvented into column families, key-value or completely replaced with JSON documents in document-based databases, the fact still remains that data have to be reshaped to conform to certain structure in order to persistently store the data on disc. ETL processes are key in restructuring data. However, ETL processes incur additional processing overhead and also require that data sources are maintained in predefined formats. Consequently, data in certain formats are completely ignored because designing ETL processes to cater for all possible data formats is almost impossible. Potentially, these unconsidered data sources can provide useful insights when incorporated into big data analytics. In this project, using big data solution, Apache Spark, we tapped into other sources of data stored in their raw formats such as various text files, compressed files etc and incorporated the data with persistently stored enterprise data in MongoDB for overall data analytics using MongoDB Aggregation Framework and MapReduce. This significantly differs from the traditional ETL systems in the sense that it is compactible regardless of the data formats at source.

  • The classical Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) does not include any time dependence explicitly. However, the success criteria (SC) could evolve during the cycle for some initiating events. In that sense, there is a type of sequence in which this time-dependency is quite important, the family of Anticipated Transient without Scram (ATWS) sequences in Pressurized Water Reactors. Therefore, a new risk-informed approach is proposed in this paper, which makes it possible to obtain the time-dependent SC evolution of the safety functions affected by the Moderator Temperature Coefficient (MTC) value. Then, the evolution of the ATWS conditional core damage probability (CCDP) could be obtained using a PSA model. To quantify the CCDP, the average values of the time-dependent failure probabilities must be computed. Finally, the comparison between the CCDP obtained through the application of the classical PSA approach and the new one makes it possible to quantify the impact of time-dependence on the SC of the headers that this new risk-informed ATWS approach can provide.

Topic Analysis of Foreign Policy and Economic Cooperation: A Text Mining Approach

  • Purpose -International diplomacy is key for the cohesive economic growth of countries around the world. This study aims to identify the major topics discussed and make sense of word pairs used in sentences by Chinese senior leaders during their diplomatic visits. It also compares the differences between key topics addressed during diplomatic visits to developed and developing countries. Design/methodology - We employed three methods: word frequency, co-word, and semantic network analysis. Text data are crawling state and official visit news released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China regarding diplomatic visits undertaken from 2015-2019. Findings - The results show economic and diplomatic relations most prominently during state and official visits. The discussion topics were classified according to nine centrality keywords most central to the structure and had the maximum influence in China. Moreover, the results showed that China's diplomatic issues and strategies differ between developed and developing countries. The topics mentioned in developing countries were more diverse. Originality/value - Our study proposes an effective approach to identify key topics in Chinese diplomatic talks with other countries. Moreover, it shows that discussion topics differ for developed and developing countries. The findings of this research can help researchers conduct empirical studies on diplomacy relationships and extend our method to other countries. Additionally, it can significantly help key policymakers gain insights into negotiations and establish a good diplomatic relationship with China.

  • This paper presents a comparative performance analysis of the stochastic gradient adaptive algorithm based on the least mean absolute third (LMAT) error criterion with other widely-used competing adaptive algorithms. Under the assumption that the signals involved are zero-mean, wide-sense stationary and Gaussian, approximate expressions that characterize the steady-state mean-squared estimation error of the algorithm is dervied. The validity of our derivation is then confirement by computer simulations. The convergence speed is compared under the condition that the LMAT and other competing algorithms converge to the same value for the mean-squared estimation error in the stead-state, and superior convergence property of the LMAT algorithm is observed. In particular, it is shown that the LMAT algorithm converges faster than other algorithms even through the eignevalue spread ratio of the input signal and measurement noise power change.

  • The purpose of our study is to clarify about the influence that the visual information gives to the brain activities when pressure exerted the abdomen by waist belts. The visual information means that the some different visual information is inputted it, and the brain activity is evaluated by Electroencephalogram(EEG) measurements. At the same time, we carried out the sensory tests and verified about the relations between the psychological stress and the brain activities. There was a difference in change in the power of the $alpha$ wave with the eyes opened between man and woman. from the result of the sensory test, in the case of under the condition in the darkness with the eyes opened, there was no change in the a wave with before the pressure and after the pressure. In the other cases, $alpha$ wave changed in the same way with before the pressure and after the pressure. In the case of the visible and the invisible in pressure place, $alpha$ wave changed in the same way with before the pressure and after the pressure, but there was a difference in value. From the above, it isn't recognized that the visual information is influencing a pressure sense but some influences are given to it to the brain activities.
