자성유체를 이용한 반능동식 댐퍼에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experiment Study of Semi-Active Damper Using Magnetic fluid)

  • The aim of this study is to provide fundamental information for the development of Semi-Active Damper Using Magnetic fluid. To achieve the aim, the damping effect of magnetic fluid is investigated by experiments that the diameter of inner circular bar and the input amplitude were varied in the magnetic field generated by the permanent magnet and the electromagnet coil. From the study, the following conclusive remarks can be made. As the diameter of inner circular bar and input amplitude increase, the damping effect is improved. This is explained by the fact that as the contact area between inner circular bar and magnetic fluid increases, the increase of friction lowers kinematic energy. If the magnetic field is generated, the damping effect is improved. This is explained the assumption that as the intensity of magnetic fluid particle increases, there is virtual mass phenomenon.

  • Korean Train Express (KTX) has opened to commercial traffic since 2004 at maximum speed 300km/h, and Korea High-speed Railway (HSR-350x) was developed by Korean government, several institutes, and related companies. HSR-350x is now being investigated its performance and tested at the high speed line. In 2004 December, HSR-350x was run over 350km/h and proved its running performance. In vehicle system, the faster the vehicle runs, the more vibration increases. To improve the riding comfort of high-speed trains, it needs to devise the vibration absorber. In this paper, we propose the installation of the semi-active damper to the power car of HSR 350x and present the specification and the damping characteristics.

Control of chaotic dynamics by magnetorheological damping of a pendulum vibration absorber

  • Investigations of regular and chaotic vibrations of the autoparametric pendulum absorber suspended on a nonlinear coil spring and a magnetorheological damper are presented in the paper. Application of a semi-active damper allows controlling the dangerous motion without stooping of system and additionally gives new possibilities for designers. The investigations are curried out close to the main parametric resonance. Obtained numerical and experimental results show that the semi-active suspension may reduce dangerous motion and it also allows to maintain the pendulum at a given attractor or to jump to another one. Moreover, the results show that, for some parameters, MR damping may transit to chaotic motions.

  • The dynamic range of MR damper is the most important characteristics for the usage of semi-active control system. The damping force can be increased by simply decresing the orifice gap in the traditional oil damper, but it deteriorate the dynamic range in MR damper. In this paper, the multi-stage electro-magnetic core is suggested to maintain the performance of MR damper with a large damping force. The MR damper with 3 stage core is designed and manufactured for testing and analysis.

  • In this paper, an integrated control of the semi-active suspension system using a reduced full-car model is investigated. By including the reduced full-car dynamics in the control law, the semi-act ive suspension system is able to control not only the vertical acceleration but also the roll and pitch mot ions of the car body, which is not Possible with a quarter-car model or a half-car model. The damping forces for the semi-active dampers are designed to track the damping forces of the skyhook controller designed from the reduced full car dynamics. Computer simulations and experimental results using a real car are also included.

  • We proposed the above-knee prosthesis using rotary MR damper in which knee joint is semi-actively controlled by microprocessor. Dissipation torque in the knee joint can be controlled by the magnetic field which is induced by applying current to a solenoid, Tracking control of knee joint angle was tested by 3-DOF Leg simulator. The experimental results show that the proposed above-knee prosthesis system had good performance in swing phase tracking and repetitive controller in conjunction with a computed control law and PD control law, reduced RMS tracking error as the repetitions of tracking. Moreover, desired knee angle trajectory was generated based on the estimation of gait period with the gyro signal and the tracking control was performed.

  • For the semiactive vibration control, a variable damper and proper control systems are essential. In this research, a controllable damper was designed using the MR fluids and its mechanical properties such as damping constant and response time were measured. Since the response time of the MR damper was much longer than nominal MR fluid response time, the time delay of the damper should be considered in the design of controllers. It is shown that the advanced On/Off vibration control which includes the damper time delay performs more effectively than the conventional one.

  • To improve the riding comfort of high speed trains, it needs active suspension system for railway more and more. In Japan, the high speed train, Shinkansen has adopted semi active suspension system and now it is running in the main trunk. In Korea, Koeran Train Express (KTX) is opened to commercial traffic and Korea High speed Railway (HSR350) is being developed. So the vibration control of the high speed train becomes important. In this paper, we introduce technical skill of Japanese semi active suspension Shinkansen to be helpful to the related researcher.

바닥판 구조물의 진동제어를 위한 MR 감쇠기의 적용 (Application of MR Damper for Vibration Control of Floor Slab)

  • 수동동조질량감쇠기의 진동제어 효과는 질량감쇠기와 구조물과의 동조로 인하여 나타나고 있다. 그러나 바닥판 구조물의 질량과 강성의 변화로 인하여 실제 구조물에 있어서 비동조 현상이 일어나기도 한다. 이러한 상황에서는 수동동조질량감쇠기의 성능이 비효율적이며 경우에 따라서는 구조물의 진동을 증가시키기도 한다. 본 논문에서는 기계나 사람에 의한 바닥판 구조물의 진동을 줄이기 위하여 자기유체감쇠기의 적용성을 알아보고자 한다. 준 능동제어와 groundhook 제어 알고리즘을 적용하여 준능동감쇠기의 성능과 수동질량감쇠기의 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 또한 비동조 상황에서의 준능동감쇠가와 수동질량감쇠기의 견인성을 비교 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 자기유체감쇠기는 동조상황에서 우수한 제어 성능을 가지고 있으며 비동조 상황에서도 우수한 견인성을 보여주고 있다.
