반응고 7075 알루미늄 합금의 반용융 압출 및 압출재의 기계적 특성 (Thixo-extrusion of Semi Solid 7075 Aluminum Alloys and Mechanical Properties of The Extrudates)

  • Thixo-extrusion of semi-solid 7075 aluminum alloy and the mechanical properties of its extrudates were investigated. The semisolid alloy was prepared by a cooling slope cast. In other to perform thixo-extrusion, semi-solid 7075 aluminum alloy billets were reheated at the reheating conditions reported in a previous study. The maximum extrusion pressure in thixo-extrusion was 615MPa. This was lower than that of conventional hot extrusion ($P_{max}=940MPa$) at the same extrusion conditions due to the increased fluidity of the alloy billet in the semi-solid state. The values of Rockwell hardness (scale B) at the extrusion direction of the as thixoextruded bar were 48~53HRB and the difference in Rockwell hardness between the transverse direction and the extrusion direction was 5HRB or less. The results show that thxio-extrusion of semi-solid 7075 Al alloy improves the workability and anisotropic with the extrusion direction compared with hot extrusion of the conventional alloy.

  • Rheological property and apparent viscosity(η)of several semi-solid foods were measured with extrusion capillary viscometer. Apparent viscosities of several semi-solid foods ranged from 0.2714 Pa.s to 2.6453 Pa.s Rheological property of spread type semi-solid foods was pseudoplastic (with yield value). Especially, as the moisture content and temperature of Chungkook-jang spread increased, apparent viscosity decreased. On the contrary, as the added soybean oil content of Chungkook-jang spread increased, apparent viscosity also increased.

  • It is the objective of this study to analyze the effect of various process variables on the quality of extruded product and extrusion force for semi-solid extrusion of Al2024 with solid phase structure of globular type by the finite element method. Process variables are initial solid fraction, ram speed, semi-angle of die, and reduction in area. The results of experiment are compared with those of simulation in order to verify the usefulness of the developed finite element program. The flow and deformation of semi-solid alloy are analyzed by coupling by coupling the deformation of porous skeleton and the flow of liquid phase. It is also assumed that initial solid fraction is homogeneous.

  • This work presents the results of a thixo-extrusion process applied to aluminum alloy and and reheating characteristics of semi-solid A356 Alloy using have been discussed. The reheating experiment was performed using an electric resistance furnace and multi-stage heating for uniform reheating. The thixo-extrusion was performed at the optimal reheating conditions of the semi-solid A356 alloy, the the extrusion conditions were an extrusion ratio of 33 and ram speed of 6 mm/sec. The results showed that the thixo-extrusion of semi-solid A356 alloy fabricated by the cooling slope reduced the extrusion pressure by 180% in comparison with hot extrusion, and that a sound extrusion could be obtained in spite of the same extrusion ratio and strain rate.

  • Many products related to automobile and airplane industry have been manufactured by semi-solid forging. In this paper finite element analysis of product by combined extrusion in semi-solid state was performed and its experimental verification using A356 was conducted. distribution of solid fraction was analyzed and compared with the experimental microstructure in the product. In addition, distribution of temperature in the product was analysed by finite element method.

  • Semi-solid processing is now becoming of great interest for the production of various parts by pressure die casting. Many advantages are associated with this forming process at the condition that the forming operation is performed under appropriate conditions. The thixoforming process, which needs a suspension of a globular, non-dendritic solid phase in the liquid phase, is characterized by three major steps. The first step is casting of billets with a microstructure suited for thixoforming. The second step is reheating of slugs cut from these billets. The third step is injection of the semi-solid slugs into a die. In this paper, the horizontal reheating machine to obtain the optimal conditions suitable for semiu-solid die casting process was used and applied to extrusion material. It is estimated the possibility of application on semi-solid die casting with extrusion material through various results.

  • Semi-solid Al-Zn-Mg alloys were produced using a cooling plate method in order to investigate the extrudability. Al melt was poured on cooling plate which was adjusted at $60^{\circ}$ with respect to the horizontal plane, and the melt was cooled by water circulation underneath. Obtained Semi-solid feedstock has globular microstructure but also contains considerable amount of gas pore. Due to the pore, tensile elongation of the semi-solid feedstock was very low and it doesn't show yield point phenomenon. Isothermal hot extrusion was carried out using at $400^{\circ}C$ with a ram speed of 1mm/sec and an extrusion ratio of 25:1. The extruded bar show noticeably improved tensile ductility and strength because pore volume fraction decreased from 5% to 0.8% after extrusion. Mechanical properties of the semi-solid extruded bar were compared with that of commercial casting alloy..

  • It is the objective of this study that by conducting the serni-solid extrusion using A12024, the effect of various process variables on the quality of extruded product and extrusion force is understood. The results of experiment are compared with those of finite element simulation in order to verify the effectiveness of the developed FE-simulation code. In order to simulate densification in the deformation of serni-solid material, the semi-solid material is assumed to be composed of solid region as porous skeleton following compressible visco-plastic model and liquid region following Darcy's equation for the liquid flow saturated in the interstitial space. Then the flow and deformation of the semi-solid alloy are analyzed by coupling the deformation of the porous skeleton and the flow of the eutectic liquid. It is assumed that initial solid fraction is homogeneous. Yield and plastic potential function presented by Kuhn and constitutive model developed by Gunasekera are used for solid skeleton.

  • The semi-solid metal forming for vigorously agitated semi-solid alloys has been widely studied over the last decade. Metal forming processes are now being developed using alloys in the semi-solid state, among them are rolling, forging, extrusion, and die casting. Some of these are now employed commercially to produce a components and are also used to fabricate metal matrix composites. The semi-solid materials can be processed either directly during solidification and for this purpose mechanical stirring was demonstrated to produce a highly solidification. This paper is concerned with the influence of processing parameters on limitations of semi-solid forming.
