The influence of moisture control on bond strength of composite resin treated with self-etching adhesive system (Self-etching adhesive system에서 수분 조절이 레진의 치질접착강도에 미치는 영향)

  • 최근에 많이 사용되어지고 있는 치과용 접착제는 산 부식 후 수분이 있는 상태에서 적용하는 wet-bonding 술식을 많이 추천하고 있다. 하지만 self-etching primer의 경우 산부식과 priming 과정이 동시에 시행되고, 제조자들은 건조된 치아표면에 적용할 것을 추천하고 있다. 그러나 건조된 정도에 대하여서는 별다른 추천사항이 없으며. 수분이 self-etching primer에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대하여서는 별다른 연구가 이루어져 있지 않은 상태이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 치질 삭제 후 남아있는 수분이 self-etching primer의 레진 접착 강도에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 알아보고자 하였다. 발거한 대구치 96개를 이용하여 물기가 있는 상태에서 #600 사포로 표면을 연마하고, 법랑질 면을 노출시킨 군과 상아질을 노출시킨 군으로 분류 후, 30분 공기 중 방치 군 (1군), 5초 공기 건조 군 (2군), 1초 공기 건조 군 (3군), 솜으로 약간의 물기를 제거한 군(blot dry) (4군) 등 총 8개의 군으로 나누었다. Self-etching adhesive system인 Clearfil SE Bond primer를 20초간 적용하고, bonding제 도포 후 10초간 광중합 시행하였다. 접착제 처리한 치아면에 몰드를 고정한 후 Clearfil AP-X 복합레진을 2mm 충전하고, 40초간 광중합을 시행하였다. 24시간 후 전단 응력 결합강도를 측정하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 법랑질과 상아질 모두에서, 30분 건조군과 5초 공기건조군이 1초와 blot drying 군보다 높은 결합강도를 보였으며 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 본 실험 결과에 의하면 self-etching adhesive system을 사용함에 있어서 법랑질과 상아질군 공히 건조된 상태에서 사용하여야 하며 수분의 존재시 치아와의 결합력이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 임상에서 접착제의 적용시 수분의 조절에 주의하여야 할 것으로 사료된다.

THE EVALUATION OF MICROLEAKAGE OF PIT AND FISSURE SEALANT BY USAGE OF SELF-ETCHING ADHESIVE SYSTEM (자가 산부식 접착제를 이용한 치면열구전색의 미세누출 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of fissurotomy and double application time of acidic primer of self-etching adhesive system of acid treatment on enamel surfaces for prevention of microleakage of pit and fissure sealants. The microleakage of pit and fissure sealants was evaluated by measuring the penetration depth of methylene blue solution. Specimens were divided by 4 groups according to the method of treatment. Group I: 35% phosphoric acid etching, 20 seconds. Group II: Priming with self-etching primer, 20 seconds. Group III: Priming with self-etching primer, 40 seconds. Group IV: Priming with self-etching primer, 20 seconds, after fissurotomy. The etched pattern produced on enamel was observed using a scanning electron microscope. Obtained data were analysed statistically using Kruscal-Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test for comparison of groups. The results are as follows: 1. Microleakage scores of group IV priming with self-etching primer 20 seconds after fissurotomy was the lowest. 2. Microleakage scores between group II and group III were not shown significant difference. 3. Enamel for 20 seconds etching with 35% phosphoric acid was observed the most effective etching pattern. And the etching pattern on the fissure enamel with self-etching adhesive 20 seconds after fissurotomy was more prominent than group II, III only using self-etching primer.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the etching effects and bond strength of total etching and self-etching adhesive system on unground enamel using scanning electron microscopy and microtensile bond strength test. The buccal coronal unground enamel from human extracted molars were prepared using low-speed diamond saw. Scotchbond Multi-Purpose (group SM). Clearfil SE Bond (group SE), or Adper Prompt L-Pop (group LP) were applied to the prepared teeth. and the blocks of resin composite (Filtek Z250) were built up incrementally. Resin tag formation was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. after removal of enamel surface by acid dissolution and dehydration. For microtensile bond strength test. resin-bonded teeth were sectioned to give a bonded surface area of $1\textrm{mm}^2$. Microtensile bond strength test was perfomed. The results of this study were as follows. 1. A definite etching pattern was observed in Scotchbond Multi-Purpose group. 2. Self-etching groups were characterized as shallow and irregular etching patterns. 3. The results (mean) of microtensile bond strength were SM: 26.55 MPa, SE: 18.15 MPa, LP: 15.57 MPa. SM had significantly higher microtensile bond strength than 8E and PL (p < 0.05). but there was no significant differance between SE and PL.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of additional enamel etching with phosphoric acid on the microleakage of the adhesion of self-etching primer system. Class V cavity($4mm{\times}3mm{\times}1.5mm$) preparations with all margins in enamel were prepared on buccal surface of 42 extracted human upper central incisor teeth. Prepared teeth were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group 1:no additional pretreatment with 37% phosphoric acid (NE). Group 2:additional pretreatment with 37% phosphoric acid for 10 seconds (E10s). Group 3:additional pretreatment with 37% phosphoric acid for 20 seconds (E20s). The adhesives(Clearfil SE $Bond^{\circledR}$, Kuraray, Osaka, Japan) and composite resins(Clearfil $AP-X^{\circledR}$, Osaka, Kuraray, Japan) were applied following the manufacturer's instructions. All the specimens were finished with the polishing disc(3M dental product, St Paul, MN, USA), thermocycled for 500 cycles between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ and resected apical 3-mm root. 0.028 stainless steel wire was inserted apically into the pulp chamber of each tooth and sealed into position with sticky wax. Surrounding tooth surface was covered with a nail varnish 2 times except areas 1mm far from all the margins. After drying for one day, soaked the samples in the distilled water. Microleakage was assessed by electrochemical method(System 6514, $Electrometer^{\circledR}$), Keithley, USA) in the distilled water.   • The purpose of this study was to ascertain the bonding durability of self-etching dentin bonding agents to dentin by means of shear bonding strength. Several acid-etching dentin bonding system (ESPE Z100) and self-etching dentin bonding systems (DEN-FIL, GRADIA DIRET) were used. The occlusion surface of human molars were ground flat to expose dentin and treated with the etch bonding system according to manufactures instruction and followed by composite resin application. After 24hours of storage at 37$^{\circ}C$, the shear bonding strength of the specimens was measured in a universal testing machine with a 1mm/min crosshead speed. An one-way analysis of variance and the scheffe test were performed to identify significant differences (p<0.05). The bonded interfacial surfaces and treated dentin surfaces were examined using a SEM. Through the analysis of shear bond strength data and micro-structures of dentin-resin interfaces, following results are obtained. In dentin group, the shear bond strength of DEN-FIL showed statistical superiority in comparison to the other groups and followed by ESPE Z100 and GRADIA DIRECT (p<0.05).

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of chemo-mechanical caries removal system($Carisolv^{TM}$, Medi Team, Sweden) for resin adhesion to carious primary and permanent dentin compared with conventional drilling method. The buccal surface of 92 primary molars and 92 permanent molars were used. Exposed dentins were occurred artificial caries. 32 tooth of primary molars and 32 tooth of permanent molars were prepared to observe treated dentin surface with $Carisolv^{TM}$ and conventional drilling method by SEM. Other tooth were prepared to measure resin-dentin shear bonding strength according to caries removal methods and dentin adhesive system. Two adhesive systems and a composite resin were used; single bonding agent(Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus, 3M) and self-etching bonding system(Prompt L-pop, 3M ESPE), and a composite resin (Z-250, 3M). The results were as follows : 1. The removal effect of carious dentin on $Carisolv^{TM}$ was stronger on the primary dentin than that to permanent dentin, and dentin surface became rougher with treated $Carisolv^{TM}$ than drilling method. 2. Acid-etched dentin surfaces were showed smoothening without smear layer. 3. In specimen applied single bonding system hybrid layer and adhesive layer were $2-4{\mu}m$ and $10-15{\mu}m$ in thickness, whereas self-etching bonding system were showed only thin hybrid layer($1-2{\mu}m$). 4. The shear bonding strength of group applied single bonding agent was higher than that applied self-etching priming system(P<0.05). 5. The shear bonding strength of group applied $Carisolv^{TM}$ and self-etching priming system were slightly higher than that applied conventional drilling method and self-etching priming system(P>0.05).

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the bonding ability of two self etch systems to human primary and permanent enamel and the effect of additional acid etching time. Exfoliated, caries free human primary molar(n=65) and permanent molar extracted (n=65) were used. prepared enamel specimens were randomly divided into 2 test groups and a control group. The control group(n=10) were treated with 35% phosphoric acid gel and Scotchbond Multi-purpose adhesive. Experimental groups(self-etching systems) were subdivided into 6 groups(each n=10) according to additional etching time(0s, 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 30s). The result were as follows : 1) The shear bond strengths of the self-etching adhesives(Clearfil SE Bond, Adper Prompt L-pop) without additional etching were lower than control group(Scotch Bond Multipurpose). 2) Between the same self-etch adhesive groups, additional etched groups showed higher shear bond strength 3) There was no significant difference between primary and permanent enamel. In conclusion, bond strength of self-etch adhesives to enamel could be increased with additional etching.

Microtensile bond strength of silorane-based composite specific adhesive system using different bonding strategies

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of pre-etching on the bond strength of silorane-based composite specific adhesive system to dentin. Materials and Methods: Thirty human molars were randomly divided into 5 groups according to the different bonding strategies. For teeth restored with silorane-based composite (Filtek Silorane, 3M ESPE), the specific self-etching adhesive system (Adhesive System P90, 3M ESPE) was used with and without pre-etching (Pre-etching/Silorane and Silorane groups). Teeth restored with methacrylate based-composite (Filtek Z250, 3M ESPE) were hybridized with the two-step self-etching system (Clearfil SE Bond, Kuraray), with and without pre-etching (Pre-etching/Methacrylate and Methacrylate groups), or three-step adhesive system (Adper Scotchbond Multi-Purpose, 3M ESPE) (Three-step/Methacrylate group) (n = 6). The restored teeth were sectioned into stick-shaped test specimens ($1.0{\times}1.0mm$), and coupled to a universal test machine (0.5 mm/min) to perform microtensile testing. Results: Pre-etching/Methacrylate group presented the highest bond strength values, with significant difference from Silorane and Three-step/Methacrylate groups (p < 0.05). However, it was not significantly different from Pre-etching/Silorane and Methacrylate groups. Conclusions: Pre-etching increased bond strength of silorane-based composite specific adhesive system to dentin.
