  • Given that SME workers are the driving force of national competitiveness and the basis and cornerstone of the industry, it is meaningful to study workers' job satisfaction and the factors that affect job satisfaction. In addition to variables related to corporate competitiveness and organizational justice, this study introduced variables such as environmental(E) activities, social(S) activities, and governance(G) activities, which th national government uses as major management evaluation indicators. Therefore, a literature study and empirical analysis were conducted on how self-efficacy affects job satisfaction when workers are faced with a changed work environment. To conduct this study, 300 copies of data were collected from workers in small and medium-sized enterprises and used for analysis. For data analysis, the SPSS statistical program (Ver. 25.0) was used. The study finds, first, that product or service quality and employee competency among corporate competitiveness had a significant positive(+) effect on job satisfaction. Secondly, among ESG management activities, social(S) activities and governance(G) activities were found to have a significant positive(+) effect on job satisfaction. Third, among organizational justice, distribution justice and procedural justice were found to have a positive(+) effect on job satisfaction. Fourth, self-efficacy was found to mediate the effect of product or service quality, employee competency, social(S) and governance(G) activities among ESG management activities, and procedural justice among organizational justice on job satisfaction. The academic value of this study is that it empirically analyzed the factors that ESG management activities affect workers' jobs,. As a result, it was confirmed that workers were satisfied with their jobs by actively showing interest in social(S) activities and governance(G) activities among ESG management activities and participating in corporate management. In addition, workers sensitive to changes in the external environment can become satisfied with their jobs through self-efficacy when SMEs actively enhance corporate competitiveness, execute ESG management activities, and provide a fair organizational culture. Finally, this study suggests that there's a possibility of improving the competitiveness of SMEs through a virtuous cycle created by a change in perception of job conversion and a decrease in turnover.

  • Diabetes mellitus, a universal and prevalent chronic disease, is projected to be one of the most formidable worldwide health problems in the 21st century. For those living with diabetes, there is a need for self-care skills to manage a complex medical regimen. Self-efficacy which refers to one's belief in his/her capability to monitor and perform the daily activities required to manage diabetes has be found to be related to self-care. The concept of self-efficacy comes from social cognitive theory which maintains that cognitive mechanism mediate the performance of behavior. The literature cites several research studies which show a strong relationship between self-efficacy and self-care behavior. Meta-analysis is a technique that enables systematic review and quantitative integration of the results from multiple primary studies that are relevant to a particular research question. Therefore, this study was done using meta-analysis to quantitatively integrate the results of independent research studies to obtain numerical estimates of the overall effect of a self-efficacy with diabetic patient on self-care behaviors. The research proceeded in three stages : 1) literature search and retrieval of studies in which self-efficacy was related to self-care, 2) coding, and 3) calculation of mean effect size and data analysis. Seventeen studies which met the research criteria included study population of adults with diabetes, measures of self-care and measures of self-efficacy as a predictive variable. Computation of effect size was done on DSTAT which is a statistical computer program specifically designed for meta-analysis. To determine the effect of self-efficacy on self-care practice homogeneity tests were conducted. Pooled effect size estimates, to determine the best subvariable for composite variables, metabolic control variables and component of self-efficacy and self-care, indicated that the effect of self-efficacy composite on self-care composite was moderate to large. The weighted mean effect size of self-efficacy composite and self-care composite were +.76 and the confidence interval was from +.66 to +.86 with the number of subjects being 1,545. The total for this meta-analysis result showed that the weighted mean effect sizes ranged from +.70 to +1.81 which indicates a large effect. But since reliabilities of the instruments in the primary studies were low or not stated, caution must be applied in unconditionally accepting the results from these effect sizes. Meta-analysis is a useful took for clarifying the status of knowledge development and guiding decision making about future research and this study confirmed that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and self-care in patients with diabetes. It, thus, provides support for nurses to promote self-efficacy in their patients. While most of the studies included in this meta-analysis used social cognitive theory as a framework for the study, some studies use Fishbein & Ajzen's attitude model as a model for active self-care. Future research is needed to more fully define the concept of self-care and to determine what it is that makes patients feel competent in their self-care activities. The results of this study showed that self-efficacy can promote self-care. Future research is needed with experimental design to determine nursing interventions that will increase self-efficacy.

  • In compliance with the Industrial Safely and Health Acts, the owners/users have performed self-inspection at regular intervals to secure safety in the use of hazardous machinery, equipment and facilities However, securing safety, which is the goal of self-inspection, has not been thoroughly understood in most small businesses and factories. The objective of this research is to analyze the importance and effects of self-inspection in preventing accidents in businesses and factories that use hazardous machinery and facilities. The result shows that self-inspection has made a good contribution to the prevention of accidents. Most businesses and factories that responded the survey answered they have improved safety in the use of machinery and facilities through self-inspection, though the ways of self-inspection were not all the same. However, the result also reveals that there are rooms for further improvement in the areas of self-inspection intervals, self-inspection methods and the selection of self-inspection objects. This improvement is necessary to improve the effect of self-inspection and to minimize regulations of the government on business activities.

  • This research was an attempt to make it possible to provide nursing care and health education meet- ing the need not of care givers but of patients by identifying the nature of patients' self regulation experiences. The specific objective of this study was : 1) to explore self regulation experiences of patients with adult disease. The phenomenological approach in qualitative studies is used to serve this purpose. Colaizzi's method is used for the phenomenological analysis of the data in this study, which were collected from 25 patients hospitalized in the internal medical ward and oriental medical ward of a Seoul hospital, suffering from adult disease such as hypertension, arteriosclerosis and diabetes mellitus. The research was conducted over a period of March to September, 1994. The investigator conducted participated observations and in-depth unstructured interviews which were audiotaped under the permission of patients. The investigator read the data repeatedly to identify and categorize significant statements, formulating meanings, themes and theme clusters. The result is categorized as follows : Self regulation activities, their barriers and predisposing factors of a disease. Thirteen theme clusters of self regulation activities related to health identified were. “maintaining diet regimen”, “maintaining exercise regimen”, “maintaining medication regimen”, “maintaining oriental medical regimen”, “maintaining health monitoring regimen”, “maintaining self effort”, “maintaining religious life”, “maintaining social sup-port systems”, “maintaining peaceful mind”, “maintaining moderation in life”, “maintaining sincere attitude in life”, “maintaining natural life”, and “maintaining folk remedy” This findings confirm the fact that self regulation is complicatedly and diversely influenced by oriental medicine and folk remedy, and Korean traditional ideas melted in Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism and Shamanism, and modern medical care and western culture. Seven theme clusters of self regulation barriers identified were : "lack of knowledge and self aware-ness", "lack of social supports", "lack of awareness of need in continuous regimen and treatment", "dissatisfaction with hospital and health care provider", "lack of self management ", "lack of will to combat illness", and "overconfidence in folk remedy" Four theme clusters of predisposing factors of a disease were : "cumulation of stressors", "fatalism", "careless life style", and "family history". In conclusion, this. study will prove helpful not only in understanding clients in light of our traditional culture but also in providing them with the kind of nursing care and health education satisfying their demands and particularly cultural needs.

  • This study explores role of self-efficiency in the career activities of marriage immigrant women. It is expected that self-efficiency would contribute to marriage immigrant women helping them to overcome the difficulties of their lives spontaneously and keep on their careers. For this, it was conducted that in-depth interview with seven marriage immigrant women. Conclusion was classified into two parts as following. The conclusion is from whether marriage immigrant woman has self-efficiency in her career purpose and career barrier. First, in the conclusion of career purpose, higher self-efficiency leads to constant career fulfillment and positive self image and lower self efficiency gives rise to absence of neighboring subgoal and discontinuity or lagging of personal career. Second, in the conclusion of career barrier, higher self-efficiency person would consider career barrier as an object to get over. On the contrary, lower self-efficiency person could not find the proper strategies to deal with career barrier and conform to the barrier and give up the career.
