Depression in Physically Disabled Persons (지체장애인의 주관적 건강, 사회적 지지 및 자아통제감이 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether subjective health and social support influence depression directly or indirectly through self-control of the physically disabled. Method: A five-item General Health Short Form (SF-36) Health Survey Questionnaire was used to measure subjective health. Social support and self-control were measured by Social Support Questionnaire 6 and Mastery Scale. The level of depression was measured by CES-D (Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression). Result: The level of depression was high (M=22.23). Seventy percent of the subjects were depressed. Subjective health and satisfaction with social support influenced self-control. Subjective health influenced the level of depression directly and indirectly, but self-control influenced the level of depression only directly. Conclusion: Subjective health and satisfaction with social support influenced depression through self-control in physically disabled persons. Therefore, when we manage these subjects' depression, it is seemed that program which lowers the level of depression by assessing and correcting these factors should be prepared.

Interpersonal Relations, Hope, Professional Self-concept and Turnover Intention according to Adult Attachment Styles in Early Stage Nurses (초보간호사의 성인애착유형에 따른 대인관계능력, 희망감, 전문직자아개념 및 이직의도)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine interpersonal relations, hope, professional self-concept and turnover intention according to adult attachment styles in early stage nurses. Methods: A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted with 245 nurses who work in one of six general hospitals. Additionally, a qualitative method was used to obtain data on experiences in interpersonal relations. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WINdows 14.0 and qualitative data from open question in the survey questionnaire were analyzed using content analysis. Results: There was a significant difference in interpersonal relations, hope, and professional self-concept according to adult attachment styles. In the interpersonal relation of early stage nurses, 8 themes were identified, of which the most frequent were: a comfortable relationship with my co-workers (43%) and stress from the relationship (34%). Conclusion: Findings from this study should be useful in the development of programs to promote adult attachment and professional self-concept for early stage nurses.

Effect of Design Thinking-based STEAM Program for Primary and Secondary Students (초·중등학생을 위한 디자인적 사고기반의 STEAM교육 프로그램의 효과)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of design thinking-based STEAM program for primary and secondary students. The design thinking-based STEAM program dealt with advanced scientific technology issues and it consisted of 8 topics. A questionnaire was developed to explore the change of Science concept awareness, Interest, Self-efficacy, Career consciousness of students through the program. The questionnaire consisted of following 4 areas, such as 'Science concept awareness', 'Interest', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy'. Pre-post test was conducted to 75 primary and secondary students. As a result of analyzing post-test compared to pre-test, 'Science concept awareness', 'Career consciousness' and 'Self efficacy' of students were improved. And the 'Interest' wasn't changed significantly. Through this research, it can be suggested that the design thinking-based STEAM program can be useful at school education to improve the Science concept awareness, Career consciousness and Self-efficacy of primary and secondary students. It is also proposed that further research of the various areas of interest and other affective variables will be needed.

Effect of PBL on Self Leadership, Nursing Leadership, Confidence in Nursing Students Applying Flipped Learning

  • This is a group pretest-posttest design study that aim to evaluate the effect of problem-based learning using flipped learning to self leadership, nursing leadership, and confidence of nursing students. The subjects were 87 4th nursing students who took nursing management from March 15 to April 26, 2021. A questionnaire was used to measure self leadership, nursing leadership, and confidence. The measurement of self leadership is a 5-point Likert scale that employs a questionnaire. Flipped learning uploaded a 5-8 minute lecture video, and the subjects learned on learning management system, using smart device. PBL teaching was developed about personal growth, cooperation, nursing excellence, creative problem solving, influence. As a result of the study, self leadership was significantly improved after education than before education(t=-6.27, p<.001). Nursing leadership and confidence were significantly changed before and after education(t=-16.10, p<.001; t=-2.37, p<.001). According to the results of this study, the PBL teaching method using flipped learning is an effective teaching and learning strategy for improving leadership, and confidence. In future studies, it will be necessary to develope and verify specific teaching and learning methods by applying nursing experts in consideration of the type of leadership.

The Reliability and Validity of a Drinking Refusal Self-Efficacy Questionnaire-Revised (DRSEQ-R) in Korean College Students (한국 대학생을 대상으로 한 음주거절효능감 도구 [Drinking Refusal Self-Efficacy Questionnaire-Revised: DRSEQ-R]의 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증)

  • Purpose: This study was to test the reliability and validity of a Drinking Refusal Self-Efficacy Questionnaire-Revised (DRSEQ-R) in Korean college students, Methods: The DRSEQ-R was designed to assess an individual's belief in their ability to refuse drinking alcohol by Oei et al. (2005) and consisted of three factors (social pressure, opportunity, and emotional relief). A methodological study design with an exploratory factor analysis for validity and correlation coefficients for reliability was used. DRSEQ-R was translated into Korean and a translation equivalency was obtained. DRSEQ-R was tested with a sample of 201 college students in Korea. The subjects consisted of 106 males and 95 females. Principal component factor analysis was used for construct validity and Cronbach's alpha was used to evaluate for internal consistency of the instrument. Results: The factor analysis showed three factors explaining 66.3% of total variance and the corresponding factors were emotional relief (48.01%), drinking contextual opportunity (11.18%), and social pressure (7.14%). The internal consistency was acceptable (Cronbach's alpha=.937). All three factors of DRSEQ-R negatively correlated with alcohol dependency and a heavy drinker showed a lower DRSEQ-R than a moderate drinker. Conclusion: Based on the findings, DRSEQ-R is a reliable and valid instrument to measure for drinking refusal self-efficacy in Korean college students.

A Study on the Implementation of an Educational Program for Caregivers (노부모 부양자 교육프로그램의 적용과 효과)

  • This study was conducted to reconstitute a family life education program for caregivers and to analyze the system of implementation. Based largely on a pre-existing program for caregiving families, I developed a new educational program. Personal time management and personal needs management were added in the content of the program order to help enhance self-esteem and internal control. The reconstituted educational program, which consists of 6 sessions, was implemented on a small group of caregivers in Jeollabukdo Province who support their elderly parents. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by a pre-test, a post-test, a follow-up test and open-questionnaire reports. The results from the post-test suggest that the program has been effective in improving the knowledge on aging process, internal control and self-esteem. But the follow-up test results show the program has been effective only in improving the knowledge on aging process. According to the open-questionnaire reports, the program seems to have been effective in improving interpersonal relationships and changing attitudes toward their elderly parents.

Maternal Behavioral Inhibition/Activation System and Preschooler's Emotional Intelligence : Mediated by Maternal Emotional Expressiveness (유아의 정서지능과 관련된 어머니의 행동억제/활성화체계 및 정서표현성)

  • This study explored mediating effects of the maternal emotional expressiveness between maternal behavioral inhibition/behavioral activation system and children's emotional intelligence. subjects were 138 4- to 5-year-old preschoolers (92 boys, 46 girls) and their mothers. The maternal behavioral inhibition/behavioral activation system was measured by BIS/BAS(Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System, Carver & White, 1994), maternal emotional expressiveness was measured by the Self-Expressiveness in the Family Questionnaire (Halberstadt, 1995), and children's emotional intelligence was measured by the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (Lee, 1998). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. Results were that maternal positive expressiveness mediated the effects of maternal BIS on children's self-understanding and maternal negative expressiveness mediated the effects of maternal BAS on children's self-regulation.

The Relationship between Clothing Behavior and Personality Traits among High School Girls (여고생들의 의복행동과 성격특성과의 상관연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between three aspects of clothing behavior ana three personality traits. Personality traits were measured with Chung's Personality Scale. 1 The questionnaire measuring clothing behavior consisted of items designed to assess clothing conformity, importance, and self-concept regarding clothing, This questionnaire was composed of items designed for this study in addition to items selected from questionnaires of such researchers as Sin, Lee, Chung, creekmore, Cheek, and Kim. These questionnaires were administered to 323 high school girls in Seoul. Statistical analysis consisted of correlation and t-test. The results were : 1) Dominance was positively related to self-concept regarding clothing and negatively related to clothing conformity. 2) Emotional stability was positively related to clothing modesty. 3) Sociability was positively related to self-concept regarding clothing. 4) There was no significant difference in clothing behavior between early adolescents and late adolescents.

Research on the Leadership Types in Italian Restaurants (이태리 레스토랑 종사자들의 리더십 유형에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose - This study analyzes the effects of types of leadership on the employees of Italian restaurants, its efficacy, and organizational citizenship behavior, utilizing a causal assessment model. In this study, independent variables such as the type of leadership perceived in the manager or chef by an Italian restaurant's employees, and its efficacy were parameters, and the organizational citizenship behavior and organizational effectiveness were the variables representing the results in the hypothesis. The study aimed to draw implications by verifying the leadership via efficacy and the impact on organizational citizenship behavior of Italian restaurants. Research design, data, methodology - For the purpose of this analysis, specific questionnaire items were configured according to the theory and efficacy of the study. From a questionnaire used in organizational citizenship behavior comprising 22 questions, six were modified to suit the research purpose of this study. The configured questionnaire comprised 5 parts and 40 items. A Likert (Likert) 5-point scale was utilized to measure responses to the questionnaire items from the employees of an Italian restaurant in Seoul who participated in the survey. For data collection, 400 questionnaires were distributed, and 344 collected. Factor analysis and reliability verification were conducted using SPSS18.0 and AMOS18.0. A covariance structure analysis was conducted to test the research hypotheses. Results - Based on the results of the analyses, the summary and suggested implications of the research are as follows: The covariance structure analysis used to analyze the kind of effect transformational and transactional leadership styles in Italian restaurant employees had on self-efficacy, group-efficacy, and organizational citizenship behavior, indicated that among the characteristics of transformational leadership (such as, idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individual consideration, and intellectual stimulation), idealized influence and individual consideration had a positive influence on self-efficacy. Idealized influence, individual consideration, conditional reward, and management by exception also positively influenced self-efficacy and altruistic and conscientious behavior (organizational citizenship behavior). Conclusions - Results suggest that with regard to self-efficacy and group efficacy, managers in different departments and chefs should provide team members with a vision for the future, increase their confidence in their abilities, and build their trust in the organization. By evaluating employee performance and experiences, management can demonstrate leadership and encourage organizational citizenship behavior through enjoyable, voluntary participation. Transformational and transactional leadership is effective in group processes that include social-exchange relationships, self-efficacy and group efficacy, and organizational citizenship behavior. However, as this research study utilizes only self-reported data, it has several limitations, such as a vulnerability of errors caused by the various experiment types. A significant limitation of this study is the lack of potential for the duplication of results. The covariance structure analysis, however, provides complementation to limit the impact of errors from self-reporting studies. A future study can extend this research by utilizing different data collection methods.

Effects of Holistic Hospice Nursing Intervention Program on Self Esteem and Spiritual Well-being for Inpatients of Hospice Palliative Care Unit (전인적 호스피스 간호중재 프로그램이 호스피스완화의료병동 입원 환자의 자아존중감과 영적안녕에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to testify the effects on self esteem and spiritual well-being of holistic hospice nursing intervention program ("Rainbow program") for inpatients of hospice palliative care unit. This was designed as a preliminary experimental study with one-group pre-post test. Methods: A total of 27 patients who were over 18 years old, and admitted in hospice palliative care unit of S hospital in P city, submitted informed consent for this study, participated in holistic hospice nursing intervention program(total 10 sessions and 1,200 minutes for 2 weeks) from April 6, 2004 to April 20, 2005. To test the effects of this intervention, Self Esteem Questionnaire (SEQ) and Spiritual Well-being Questionnaire were used. The collected data were analyzed by Paired t-test with SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Results: (1) Hypothesis No. 1 "The experimental group which received Rainbow program will have a higher degree of self esteem than before" was supported (t=11.554, P<0.001). (2) Hypothesis No. 2 "The experimental group which received Rainbow program will have a higher degree of spiritual well-being than before" was also supported (t=6.387, P<0.001). Conclusion: This Holistic Hospice Nursing Intervention Program was effective in increasing self-esteem and spiritual well-being of patients in hospice palliative care unit. Therefore, it can actively be used and also applied to hospice palliative care practice, research, and education as a useful model of interdisciplinary team approach by hospice professionals.
