  • A sparse reconfigurable adaptive filter (SRAF) based on a photonic switch determines the appropriate time delays and weight values for an optical switch implementation of tapped-delay-line (TDL) systems. It is well known that the choice of switch delays is significantly important for efficiently implementing the SRAF. If the same values exist as calculating the sum of weight magnitudes for implementing the connection constraint required by the SRAF, conventional connection algorithm based on sequentially selection the maximum elements might not work perfectly. In an effort to increase the effectiveness of system identification, an upgraded connection algorithm used progressive calculation to obtain the better solution is considered in this paper. The performance of the proposed connection constraint algorithm is illustrated by computer simulation for a system identification application.

  • hybridoma cells producing IgM anti-pneuococcal 6B polysaccharide antibodies were induced to switch to IgG-producing cells in vitro by treating with acridine orange. Treating 0.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml of acridine orange for 24 hours generated maximal number of variant cells. The maximal isotype switch frequency was 3${\times}$10-5, which is about 30-fold higher than the frequency of spontaneous switching. Resulting IgG-producing variants were enriched by sib selection and ELISA spot assay. Two IgG3-producing variant cells were finally cloned by limiting dilution. The variant cells produced similar amounts of antibodies as their parental cells did. The two switched antibodies had similar reactivity to pneumococcal 6B polysaccharide. When compared to their parental IgM antibodies, the switched IgG3 than that of IgM antibody. The antibodies will be useful as essential tools for comparative study of the role of heavy chain isotypes in protection against Streptococcus pneumoniae.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the improvement method of MOV(Motor Operated Valve) operability without major modification or change of MOV which needs a great expense and manpower. We studied valve stem lubrication, stem packing thrust and actuator control switch which could give an major effect to MOV operability, and found the some consequences. First, the stem/stem-nut friction coefficient and stem factor is significantly effected by stem lubrication state. Second, the measured packing thrust value is appeared higer than the design value for tested valves and the preparation of optimal value selection criteria is needed. Finally, optimization of MOV control switch is another major factor for MOV operability and structual integrity.

  • This paper suggests a new non-isolated high voltage gain DC-DC converter with two switches. The proposed two-switch converter has the following characteristics: a high voltage gain, a continuous input current with a small ripple, a reduction in the size of the inductor, and a simple circuit with only a few elements. A theoretical analysis, guidelines for parameter selection, and a comparison with conventional non-isolated high step-up converters are presented. A prototype of 250 W is set up to demonstrate the correctness of the proposed converter. Results obtained from simulations and experiments are presented.

  • This paper presents a design and topology selection of bi-direcional buck converter based on PV PCS for managing the electric power. Futhermore, Current Ringing on DCM bi-directional buck converter for soft switching is analyzed in detail. PSIM Simulation and Experiments at the various operating points show the propriety of this paper. Building on the result of simulation and experiment, a comparative analysis is performed with the approximate estimate. By use of a study, the selecion of switch and diode which improve efficiency of the overall system is appiled to DCM bi-directional buck converter based on PV PCS.

  • A personal low-frequency stimulator is a portable device to relax muscle pains of a person. The stimulator generates combined low-frequency pulses to be applied to pads attached to painful muscles. This paper reports a development of such device with its characteristic analyses. The major components of our stimulator are MCU, high-voltage generating circuit part, high-voltage switching circuit part, input switch part and display unit. High-voltage generating circuit is designed by using a boost converter circuit and allows user control of the output voltage. High-voltage switching circuit, controlled by MCU, generates output voltage to be applied to pads. Input switch part is composed of power supply, intensity selection, mode selection and memory. Display unit adopts a text LCD module to display modes, Intensity, output frequency and user set-up time. Our designed safety circuit, to protect human body from possible electric shock, slowly increases the output voltage to the selected output intensity. It continuously checks the output pulse shape and disable the output when dangerous pulses are detected. This paper also shows some experimental results.

  • An opportunistic interference alignment based on dynamic cell selection is proposed. Since the proposed method can switch the desired signal space and the interference space of received signals, an additional selective diversity gain increases. The performance analysis using probabilistic models provides a mathematical expression for the sum-rate capacity. Simulation examples show that the proposed method achieves the higher sum-rate capacity than that of the conventional opportunistic interference alignment.

  • As merging online and offline channels into one single platform, individuals could easily and frequently switch between online and offline channels. In order for understanding such unique behaviors, this study attempts to explore why and how consumers choose their channels to search and purchase a product. We have drawn on multiple theories that have been used to explain individuals' judgment and decision making (i.e., construal level theory and regula-tory focus theory) in order to develop and tested two-way ANOVA based models of how both regulatory focus (e.g., promotion vs. prevention) and product types (e.g., experience goods vs. searching goods) including the psychological distance cue separately and jointly affect individuals' channel selection behavior (e.g., intention to use single channel vs. intention to use cross-channels). Our results have indicated that consumers with promotion-focus are more likely to use a single channel in experience goods rather than in searching goods when there exists the psychological cue. Based on our findings, the implication for both research and practice are discussed.

  • Energy harvesting is a recent technology involving the harvest and utilization of extremely small surrounding energy. Energy harvesting research is conducted in various fields. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) are energy harvesting technologies that use static electricity generated by physical movement or friction. Although TENGs generate output power in microwatt levels, they experience high internal impedance compared with other energy harvesting generators, thereby making the continuous transfer of electric power to loads difficult. This study proposes a power management system for TENGs that consists of three stages, that is, an AC/DC rectifier, an impedance coupler switch with a capacitor bank, and a DC/DC converter. In addition, the selection method of the AC/DC rectifier and DC/DC converter is proposed to maximize the amount of power transferred from energy harvesting areas. Furthermore, the impedance coupler switch and capacitor bank are discussed in detail. The validity and performance of the proposed three-stage power management system for TENGs are verified using a prototype system.

  • Recent studies have convinced that network coding can improve the performance of live media streaming in terms of startup delay, resilience to peer dynamics, as well as reduced bandwidth cost on dedicated streaming servers. However, there still exist some strategy drawbacks and neglected problems which need to be further researched. In addition to the commonly used evaluation parameters of the network and user experiences mentioned above, we focus on additional key factors, playback lag and switch lag, which have not been fully explored in previous work. In this paper, we present SonicStream, a novel and fully implemented live peer to peer (P2P) media streaming system with consideration of rich user experiences, including startup delay, playback continuity, playback lag, switch lag, etc. In pursuit of a further enhanced user experience, we revise traditional peer selection/data scheduling methods. Through a series of experimental evaluations and a cautious comparison with the latest similar work $R^2$, the superior performance of SonicStream has been preliminarily verified.
