  • In a tall building construction with reinforced concrete structures, the selection of an appropriate formwork system is a crucial factor for the success of the project. Thus, selecting an appropriate formwork system affects the entire construction duration and cost, as well as subsequent construction activities. However, in practice, the selection of an appropriate formwork system has depended mainly on the intuitive and subjective opinion of working level employees with restricted experience. Therefore, in this study, a formwork system selection model using the Adaboost algorithm is proposed to support the selection of a formwork system that is suitable for the construction site conditions. To validate the applicability of the proposed model, the selection models Adaboost and ANN were both applied to actual case data of tall building construction in Korea. The Adaboost model showed slightly better accuracy than that of the ANN model. The Adaboost model can assist engineers to determine the appropriate formwork system at the inception of future projects.

  • Selection of finishing materials in the design stage is an important management factor in terms of use safety and satisfaction, and work cost and process. However, selection of materials in the design stage is usually conducted without related guidelines or a set process, but depends on the experience of the architect or advice of materials company employees. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a finishing materials selection process that can be used by a architect. Materials selection related rules collected through interview with experts and five office building cases were used as knowledge. In addition, another aim of the study was to propose a prototype system interface for use in the field.

  • Purpose - The distribution of agricultural products is changing due to recent shifts in environmental free trade. Specifically, the competitiveness of domestic agricultural products has weakened as a result of the Korea-China Financial Trade Agreement. Agricultural producers are faced with increasing difficulties and organized production centers are growing in importance daily. To overcome this crisis, agricultural producer organizations are vying for environment-friendly agricultural certifications, Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP). In particular, as consumer demand for higher safety grows, farmers are increasing their certification rates. Therefore, this certification system is expected to help strengthen the competitiveness of agricultural producer organizations. Research design/data/methodology - Organized production centers are classified by certification. A survey was conducted with 91 organizations using factor analysis and logistic regression analysis for the examination. The factor analysis results are as follows. Raw material procurement, education·specialization, marketing, joint business, organizing ability, business management, effectiveness, certification, and larger organizations were classified as the nine types of factors. These factors affect the organized production centers and are used in the logistic regression analysis. The purpose of such research and analysis is to suggest a direction for future production center policies. Results - The basic statistical results are as follows: analysis of the producer organizations of 91 sites, average number of members per site of 1,624, and average sales of 25,961 million won. Additionally, the average income per farmer is 175 million won, and the pooling system rate is 53.5%. The factor analysis results are as follows. Factor 1 consists of contract cultivation, ongoing shipment, selection subdivision, traceability, and major retailer management. Factor 2 consists of manual cultivation, specialty selection, education program, and R&D. Factor 3 consists of advertising, various dealers, various sales strategies, and a unified sales counter. Factor 4 consists of agricultural materials co-purchase, policy support, co-shipment, and incentives. Factor 5 consists of the co-selection and pooling system. Factor 6 consists of co-branding and operating by the organization's article. Factor 7 consists of the buy-sell ratio and rate of operation of the agriculture promotion center. Factor 8 consists of bargaining power in volume and participation rate of farmer certification. Factor 9 consists of increasing new subscribers. The logistic regression analysis results are as follows. Considering the results by type of certification, the environment-friendly agricultural certification type and the GAP certification type have a (+) influence. GAP and HACCP certification types affecting the education·specialization factor have a (+) influence. Considering the results for each type of certification, the environment-friendly agricultural certification types on the effectiveness factor have (-) influence; the HACCP certification types on the organizing ability and effectiveness factor have a (-) influence. Conclusions - Agricultural producer organizations should develop plans as follows: The organizations need to secure education for agricultural production; increase the pooling system ratio for sustainable organizational development; and, finally, expand the number of agricultural producer organizations.

  • Due-date is an important factor in Flexible Manufacturing System scheduling. Even though most of researchers have focused part selection and loading problem using fixed due-date assignment rules, FMSs consist of multi-function machines which facilitate alternative processes. This research investigates interactions of three dispatching mechanisms, three NSS (Next Station Selection) rules and four due-date assignment rules using simulation. Both cost-based and time-based performance measures are considered in this research.

  • Random effects generalised linear models are useful for analysing clustered count data in which responses are usually correlated. We propose a Bayesian approach to parameter estimation and variable selection in random effects generalised linear models for count data. A simple Gibbs sampling algorithm for parameter estimation is presented and a simple and efficient variable selection is done by using the Gibbs outputs. An illustrative example is provided.

  • The selection of voltage is one of the most significant factors in the design of power system for industrial plant. It is a major factor in determining over-all system cost, flexibility, and ease of future expansion. This paper presents the study results on the selection of economic voltage for low voltage power distribution system.

  • We measured small optical beam deflection in an image rotating Sagnac interferometer. We used a weak value measurement scheme that involves a pre-selection, weak perturbation, and a post-selection procedure to obtain the amplified value of beam deflection. The amplification factor of the measured beam deflection varied from 11 to 63 depending on the settings of the post-selection polarizer in front of the photodetector and the settings of polarization compensator in the interferometer.

  • This study examined the effect of ambivalent fashion consuming tendency on continuous information search and fashion store selection. Surveys period was from Jan. 8th to Jan. 20th in 2014. The subjects of this study were the young 218 women who had the shopping experiences with ambivalent fashion consuming tendency in their 20s of Pusan and Kyung-nam. These surveys referred to the relevant preceding researches and were completed by some pilot researches (focus group interview, paper-pencil test). The data was analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability analysis (Cronbach's ${\alpha}$), factor analysis and regression analysis. The main results of this study were summarized like following: First, this study was based on the definition and characteristics of the ambivalent fashion consuming tendency. The current ambivalent fashion consuming tendency consisted of price ambivalence, trend ambivalence and brand ambivalence. The consumer's demographic characteristics affected trend ambivalence, brand ambivalence. Second, continuous information search was composed of entertaining information search and rational information search. Third, ambivalence fashion consuming tendency had a strong influence on continuous information search (information search and share activity). Forth, the price ambivalence, trend ambivalence and brand ambivalence, which is the factors of ambivalent fashion consuming tendency, significantly impacted on selecting the fashion store. In conclusion, ambivalent fashion consuming tendency is main related factor impacting on continuous information search and fashion store selection.
