순환여과 양식장에서 와류형 분리기에 대한 수치적 검토 (Numerical Analysis of A Vortex Cyclone in A Recirculating Aquaculture System)

  • This study investigated the performance of a vortex hydrocyclone for solid removal in a recirculating aquaculture system. In a fish-breeding industry, effluent water is mainly disposed by gravity sedimentation. Thus, a large settling tank and a lot of water are needed to purify effluent water. However, this typical method does not show consistent efficiency. In case of low efficiency, discharged water contains a lot of feeding sediments. This causes environmental problems. Instead of this typical method a hydrocylone is tested to discharge water which contains a lot of feeding sediments. In this paper, a hydrocyclone with low velocity and pressure drop in a recirculating aquaculture system is investigated.

정수장에서 발생된 탈수슬러지의 량에 의한 배출수처리시설용량에 대한 평가 (Estimation on the Design Capacities of Residuals Treatment Facilities by the Quantity of Dewatered Sludge Generated from Water Treatment Plants)

  • The quantity of residuals generated from water treatment plants depends upon the raw water quality, dosage of chemicals used, performance of the treatment process, method of sludge removal, efficiency of sedimentation, and backwashing frequency. Sludge production by the physical separation of SS occurs under quiescent conditions in the primary clarifier, where suspended solids are allowed to settle and to consolidate on the clarifier bottom. Raw primary sludge results when the settled solids are hydraulically removed from the tank. The relative solid and liquid fractions of a slurry are most commonly described by the solids concentration, expressed as mg/L or percent solids. The purpose of the present investigation is to estimate a suitability on the design capacities of residuals treatment facilities by the quantity of dewatered sludge generated from water treatment plants.

  • The residual treatment facilities in WTP(water treatment plant) play an important role in solid-liquid separation. At present, it is difficult to solve problems related with thickening and dewatering of WTP sludge, and discharging waste water to river. 인라인 혼화 및 응집 시스템의 성능특성 (Performance characteristics of inline mixing and coagulation system)

  • 본 연구는 PI 개념에 근거한 수처리용 인라인 혼화 및 응집 시스템의 성능특성에 대한 실험적 연구를 목적으로 한다. 3단 인라인 혼화 및 응집 시스템은 처리 원수 저장조, 응집제 주입 정량펌프, 혼화 및 응집관, 침전조 및 제어 판넬로 구성된다. 동일한 응집제와 응집보조제의 주입량 조건에서 응집제의 증가에 따른 탁도 제거율에 비해 응집보조제의 증가에 따른 탁도 제거율이 약 3배 정도 높게 나타났다. 동일한 혼화 및 응집 시간 조건에서 인라인 방식이 기계식에 비해서 평균적으로 약 4.6배 정도 탁도 제거율이 높게 나타났다.

Efficiency of a hybrid solid digestion-denitrification column in suspended solid and nitrate removal from recirculating aquaculture system

  • This research focused on the solid and nitrate removal efficiency in a solid digestion-denitrification column. The 20 L up-flow column consisted of 18 L acrylic column with 2 L down-comer inlet tube located in the middle. In the first part, the wastewater with high suspended solids from the Tilapia fish tank was applied into the sedimentation unit at 5 variable flow rates i.e., 11.25, 25.71, 60, 105.88 and 360 L/h. The results indicated that the flow rate of 11.25 L/h (0.57 m/h) gave the highest solid removal efficiency of $72.72%{\pm}8.24%$. However, the total suspended solids removal was highest at 360 L/h (18.13 m/h). In the second part, methanol was added as an external organic carbon source for denitrification process in a hybrid column containing settled solids. The COD:N ratios of 0.5:1, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 5:1 and 6:1 were investigated and compared with control without methanol addition. This experiment was operated at the HRT of 1 h with 450 L wastewater from recirculating aquaculture pond containing 100 mg-N/L sodium nitrate. The results indicated that the COD:N ratio of 3:1 gave the highest nitrate removal efficiency of $33.32%{\pm}21.18%$ with the denitrification rate of 5,102.88 mg-N/day.

생활악취 배출원의 악취 배출 특성 연구: 하수처리장을 중심으로 (Odorous Emissions from Household-related Sources: A Case Study on a Sewage Treatment Plant)

  • In this study, to describe the basic characteristics of strong odorous sources, the emissions of odorous compounds from a large-scale sewage treatment plant in K city were investigated. According to this study, the emission patterns of major odorous compounds were distinguished clearly by several factors such as treatment processing types, chemical compositions of odors released, and temporal changes (e.g., seasonal variations). For the purpose of this study, emission rates of odorous compounds were quantified using a dynamic flux chamber (DFC) method from three major treatment (T) processes including T1 (Grit sedimentation basin), T2 (Aeration tank), and T3 (Final sedimentation). When the relative strengths of each emission source were compared, the strongest one was seen from T1 with the maximum of $NH_{3}\;(34.5\;{\mu}g/m^{2}/min)$ followed by $H_{2}S\;(20.4\;{\mu}g/m^{2}/min)($. While the strongest emissions of most odorous compounds were seen commonly from T1, those seen from T2 and T3 were significantly reduced relative to the ones found in T1. Considering the general patterns of odorous emission, it is concluded that control of odors from T1 unit is most important because of its considerably high emission strengths.

무동력 토사제거시스템의 현장모형실험 (Field Model Test of the Non-power Soil Cleaning System)

  • Coastal and fishing facilities are gradually deteriorating in function due to the continual accumulation of soil sediments, which has affected local economic activities. Currently, there are many methods to remove soil sediments, but these methods are either a temporary solution or require a repetitive removal of the soil sediments, which is a huge financial burden for the maintenance of the facilities. To solve these problems, this study proposed a non-power soil cleaning system and evaluated field applicability by carrying out field model tests. The conditions for the evaluation focused on the drainage-elapsed time and drainage-outflow velocity according to the water level change in the water tank. In the field test, silty clay and sand were separately installed, and sedimentation soil removal test was practiced. As a result, the system was verified to have a sufficient outflow velocity for the removal of soil sediments. In addition, a generalization equation that can be used in different regions of the tide was suggested in this study. These results will greatly contribute to removing soil sediments in ports and dike gate facilities on the southwest coast. Since the system is an eco-friendly technology that does not require additional energy, thus it is expected to contribute to maintenance of sustainable facility performance as well as economic effect in the future.

비료 유도용액의 정삼투를 이용한 하수처리수의 재이용 - 유도용액의 성능 평가 - (Water Reuse of Sewage Discharge Water Using Fertilizer Drawn Forward Osmosis - Evaluating the Performance of Draw Solution -)

  • 비료를 유도용액으로 사용하는 정삼투를 하수처리수(2차 침전지 유출수)의 재이용에 적용하여 유도용액의 성능을 평가하였다. 일반적으로 많이 사용되고 있는 비료 중에서 삼투압, 용해도 및 pH 등을 고려하여 $NH_4H_2PO_4$, KCl, $KNO_3$, $NH_4Cl$, $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$, $NH_4NO_3$, $NH_4HCO_3$$KHCO_3$을 유도용액 후보군으로 선정하고, 수투과선속 및 역용질선속을 측정하여 유도용액의 성능을 평가하였다. 평균 수투과선속은 KCl > $NH_4Cl$ > $NH_4NO_3$ > $KNO_3$ > $KHCO_3$ > $NH_4HCO_3$ > $NH_4H_2PO_4$ > $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$의 순서로 나타났으며, KCl을 유도용액으로 사용하였을 때, 평균 수투과선속은 13.49 LMH이었다. 하수처리장 2차 침전지 유출수의 삼투압은 탈이온수의 삼투압에 비해 큰 차이가 없었다. 역용질선속은 $NH_4H_2PO_4$ < $NH_4Cl$ < $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ < $KNO_3$ < $NH_4HCO_3$ < $NH_4NO_3$의 순서로 나타났으며, $NH_4H_2PO_4$를 유도용액으로 사용하였을 때, 역용질선속은 $4.96{\times}10^{-3}mmol/m^2{\cdot}sec$이었다.

  • 대체로 활성슬럿지 공법에서 가장 큰 문제점은 처리후의 미생물의 분리, 슬럿지 반송, 잉여슬럿지의 소화이다. 반면에 생물학적 고정막을 이용한 RBC, 실수여과상, 고정층활성 슬럿지 공법들은 이와같은 문제가 해소된다. 최근 침전시설 및 농축조를 설치할 필요가 없느 반고정망 활성슬럿지 공법이 개발되었다. 이 공법은 최종 처분할 슬럿지량도 감소되며, 유출수의 수질도 양호하고 최대축척용량으로 유출수의 수질은 추정할 수 있으나, 반응조가 동적인 수리학적 양상의 결여 되어있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 반응조가 좀더 동적 수리학적 양상이 되도록 설계하여 운전하였으며 그 운전결과는 다음과 같다. REMSMAS 공법은 침전시설 및 농축시설없이도 양호한 유출수를 얻을 수 있었으며 슬럿지 부착능력도 RESMAS 공법이나 FAST 공법 보다 크게 나타났으며 최대축척용량에 도달되는 한계운전기일은 대략 유기물부하량에 비례하였다.

활성오니법에 의한 판지폐수중의 COD 제거에 관한 연구 (A Study on the COD Removal in the Paste-board Wastewater by Activated Sludge Process)

  • As the paper industry consumes much water in process and discharge wastewater containing suspended solid and COD(chemical oxygen demand), relevant law against this discharge has been set up to limit the total containment of COD in discharge. This study has been carried out to improve the treatment method for the soluble COD in wastewater produced during the process of paste-board production, which is made of semichemical pulp and waste paper. Applicated methods are, O$_2$AS : O$_2$ activated sludge process DAS : Deep well activated sludge process SAS : standard activated sludge process and proper combination of DAS and SAS 1) As a result of this experiment, we get the following conclusion between in COD sludge loading "X" and COD removable rate in the process of treating waste-water. COD removable rate(%)=(0.778+0.0146/X)${\times}$100(%)……(7) 2) In case that the COD sludge loading is high, it has been cleared out that the COD removable rate shall become low due to unknown unsoluble substances contained in the process. Meanwhile, to increase the efficiency rate of treatment, it is thought to be necessary, to provide long-time contacts with activated sludge. 3) Once the COD of original waste-water and the target COD of treated water are decided, COD sludge loading is obtained from equation(7), and capacity of aeration tank in the effective systems such as O$_2$AS, DAS, to bet the required COD removable rate can be decided. Therefore the choice among SAS, O$_2$AS, DAS methods is made in consideration of required COD removable rate and allowable installation area. 4) In the sedimentation tank with sludge bulking, it is possible to increase the COD removable rate by 3~7% but still there exist many obstacles to manage this operation.
