댐 저수지의 퇴사위 결정 방법에 관한 연구 (Comparative analysis of methods for sediment level estimation in dam reservoir)

  • 본 연구에서는 댐의 효율적인 계획 및 운영을 위해 댐 저수지의 최적 퇴사위 결정 방법에 대해 고찰하였다. 현재 우리나라는 안전한 설계에 의거하여 댐 저수지 사수위 내의 퇴사위 결정 방법은 비교적 높게 산정되는 수평퇴사법을 주로 적용하고 있지만, 댐 저수지의 퇴사위는 정확하게 계획되어야 하며, 이는 댐 생애주기 평가 차원에서도 중요한 요소이다. 댐 저수지의 퇴사위 결정을 위해 대표적인 방법으로는 RMA-2와 연계된 SED-2D의 모형에 의한 방법, 수평퇴사법, 면적증분법(area increment method), 경험적면적감소법(empirical area reduction method)이 있다. 본 연구에서는 최적 퇴사위 결정을 위해 이를 산정하여 2007년 기준 실측 퇴사위와 비교하였다. 또한, 현재 및 미래 퇴사위를 예측하여 각 방법별로 경향과 추이를 분석하였다. 실측 퇴사위와 산정된 퇴사위를 비교한 결과, 경험적면적감소법이 실측값과 가장 근사하게 산정된 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 현재 및 미래의 퇴사위는 전반적으로 과거 퇴사위의 경향과 추이를 따라가는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서, 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 보면 경험적 면적감소법의 이용이 적절할 것으로 판단되고, 모형에 의해 분석 결과의 타당성을 검정하는 것이 합리적이라 생각된다.

Numerical analysis on erosion process of replenished sediment on rock bed

  • As a method of countermeasure to bed degradation and armoring phenomena of bed material in the downstream area of dam reservoirs, sediment augmentation (replenished sediment) has been carried out in many Japanese rivers. In general, bed of the replenished sediment site is composed of rocks, because the site is located in the downstream area of the dams and sediment supply is very small. Bed deformation process has been researched by many researchers. As a method of countermeasure to bed degradation and armoring phenomena of bed material in the downstream area of dam reservoirs, sediment augmentation (replenished sediment) has been carried out in many Japanese rivers. In general, bed of the replenished sediment site is composed of rocks, because the site is located in the downstream area of the dams and sediment supply is very small. Bed deformation process has been researched by many researchers. However, most of them can treat movable bed only and cannot be applied to the bed deformation process of sediment on rocks. If the friction angle between the sediment and the bed surface is assumed to be the same as the friction angle between the sediment and the sediment, sediment transport rate must be smaller without sediment deposition layer on the rocks. As a result, the reproduced bed geometry is affected very well. In this study, non-equilibrium transport process of non-cohesive sediment on rigid bed is introduced into the horizontal two dimensional bed deformation model and the model is applied to the erosion process of replenished sediment on rock in the Nakagawa, Japan. Here, the Japanese largest scale sediment augmentation has been performed in the Nakagawa. The results show that the amounts of the eroded sediment and the remained sediment reproduced by the developed numerical model are $56300m^3$ and $26800m^3$, respectively. On the other hand, the amounts of the eroded sediment and the remained sediment measured in the field after the floods are $56600m^3$ and $26500m^3$, respectively. The difference between the model and field data is very small. Furthermore, the bed geometry of the replenished sediment after the floods reproduced by the developed model has a good agreement with the measured bed geometry after the floods. These results indicate that the developed model is able to simulate the erosion process of replenished sediment on rocks very well. Furthermore, the erosion speed of the replenished sediment during the decreasing process of the water discharge is faster than that during the increasing process of the water discharge. The replenished sediment is eroded well, when the top of the replenished sediment is covered by the water. In general, water surface level is kept to be high during the decreasing process of the discharge during floods, because water surface level at the downstream end is high. Hence, it is considered that the high water surface level during the decreasing process of the water discharge affects on the fast erosion of the replenished sediment.

High Level of Bacterial Diversity and Novel Taxa in Continental Shelf Sediment

  • The bacterial diversity of the continental shelf sediment in the Yellow Sea was investigated by the cloning and sequencing of PCR-amplified 16S rRNA genes. The majority of the cloned sequences were distinct phylotypes that were novel at the species level. The richness estimator indicated that the sediment sample might harbor up to 32 phylum-level taxa. A large number of low-abundance, phylum-level taxa accounted for most of the observed phylogenetic diversity at our study site, suggesting that these low-abundance taxa might play crucial roles in the shelf sediment ecosystem.

호소 퇴적물 내부생산성 오염도 영향 평가 및 용출특성에 관한 연구 (The evaluation of pollution level and release characteristics by inner productivity in the sediment of lake)

  • In this study, it is grasped the status of nutrients through an investigation of release characteristics and physicochemical properties of sediments on reservoir. And then the effect of sediments is evaluated on the water quality in reservoir. In the results of physicochemical analysis, the pollution level of midstream is the highest, which shows the traits that the water is more deeper and takes place a deposition consistently. Then, the pollution level of upstream is higher than downstream's because inflow has influence on the upstream directly. The downstream is located near tidal gate so that the soil particles can be moved easily and are difficult to be deposited due to the distribution of seawater by control of tidal gate. Therefore, the downstream is showed the lowest pollution level than the others. Also, the concentration of SOD(Sediment Oxygen Demand) in the upstream which is influenced on the effect of inflow is highest than the others. When it analyzes under anaerobic and aerobic condition to understand the release characteristic of sediment, it shows that the release rate is low or negative under the aerobic condition. Whereas the release rate is usually positive under the unaerobic condition relatively. According to these results, it is necessary to maintain the proper environmental factors of water body for decreasing the release rate of sediment. Because the release rate is changeable under the different condition of water body. Therefore, proper strategies are required for increasing the self-purification of water as well as keeping the aerobic condition of sediment and managing a sediment layer directly to control the inner-pollution by the sediment of reservoir.

하수관 퇴적물 감지를 위한 초음파 퇴적센서 개발 (Development of Ultrasonic Sediment-level Sensor for Sewage Pipe Application)

  • In this study, we successfully developed a highly reliable ultrasonic sediment sensor to detect the sediment levels in sewer pipes in harsh environments. The ultrasonic transducer employed in the ultrasonic sediment sensor was designed so as to possess a simple structure. The developed sensor was carefully optimized by simulating the electromechanical characteristics, radiated sound wave pressures, and directivity via finite element analysis. It was also designed to possess a simple mounting structure minimizing the flow disturbance in a 400-mm sewer pipe; additionally, eight ultrasonic transducers were arranged in a four-channel mode, allowing for measurement of the sediment height in five easy steps. Through experimental evaluations, we verified the performance of the ultrasonic sediment-level sensor and its industrial applicability. The results suggested that although the precision value was notably low at 15 mm, the sediment detection performance was adequate; therefore, the developed sensor can potentially be used in industrial applications.

Analysis and Evaluation of Lake Sediment

  • This study was performed to estimate interrelation between characteristics of sediment and nutrient releare from sediment in Dae-cheong lake. For the investigations, sediments were sampled in June and October 1997 at fish farms, embayment, and the main stream of Dae-cheong lake. Items for investigation are as follows; water content, weight loss on ignition(IG), porosity of sediment, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen(TKN), content of element(H, N, C), nutrient release rate. Water content and porosity were measured to conjecture the physical trait and grain size. And weight loss on ignition was measured to determine the contents of organic substance. For the determination of nutrient release rate, $PO_4-P$ and $NH_4-N$ concentration of interstitial water and overlying water were measured. Release rate of nutrients which has direct influenced upon the water quality were 0.05-8.63mg-$P/m^2{\cdot}day$ and 4.99-36.56mg-$N/m^2{\cdot}day$. And it was found that release rate was measured higher in the 1st sampling than in the 2nd sampling. And for determination of the humus level of sediment, carbon and nitrogen content were measured by using elemental analyzer. Generally, C/N ratio is used to determine humus level of lake sediment. As a result of elemental analysis, C/N ratio was determined in the range of 7.64~11.55, so humus level of Dae-cheong lake sediment was estimated from mesohumic state to oligohumic state.

파-흐름 공존장에서 부유사와 소류사 flux에 의한 지형변화모델 (A Bed Level Change Model(SED-FLUX) by Suspended Sediment Flux and Bed Load Flux in Wave-Current Co-existing Fields)

  • 저면경계층에서 부유사와 소류사 flux를 포함하는 실제적인 표사이동에 기초한 지형변화모델(SED-FLUX)이 개발되었다. SED-FLUX는 파랑모듈, 동수역학 모듈 및 부유사농도, 순부상 flux($Q_s$)와 소류사 flux를 계산하는 표사수송 및 확산모듈을 포함하며, 소류사 flux는 파-흐름 공존장에서 검증된 van Rijn의 TRANSPOR 프로그램에 의해 평가되어진다. 저면에서 순부상 flux $Q_s$는 표사확산모듈에서 source/sink 항으로서 평가되어지며, 수심변화모듈은 수심변화량을 계산하고 시간에 따른 bed level의 변화를 계산한다. 모델의 검증을 위하여 소류사이동의 이동한계수심은 방사성 동위원소 추적자를 사용한 현장 실험자료와 파와 흐름에 의한 표사이동한계수심에 대한 몇몇 경험식과 비교되었다. 본 모델을 파에 의한 해빈 단면변화에 적용한 결과 입사파의 특성에 따른 명확한 침식과 퇴적분포를 나타내었다. 끝으로, 이안제 배후에서 파와 해빈류에 의한 수심변화를 계산한 결과 이안제의 배후에서 초기 tombolo의 형성을 보여주었다.

황해와 한국연안해역 표층퇴적물중 Sb과 As의 농도분포특성 (The distribution characteristics of Sb and As in the surface sediment from the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea)

  • We report the distributions of Sb and As in the surface sediment of the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea. The mean concentrations of Sb and As range from 0.68 ppm to 1.01 ppm and from 7.4 ppm to 15.8 ppm, respectively, and show relatively the high concentrations at the coast of Weolseong in the East Sea for Sb and at the coast of Gadeok Island in the South Sea far As. This may be due to the anthropogenic input of these elements via river and atmosphere from industry complex and agriculture regions around the study areas. Because of the difference of clay to silt proportion, the correlation between silt plus clay contents and Sb, As in the coastal surface sediment of Korea is not shown, the concentrations of Sb and As vary widely for the sample in which the silt plus clay contents are the same. Therefore, we suggest that the distribution patterns of Sb and As in surface sediment of the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea are mainly controlled by the anthropogenic inputs and the sediment characteristics. On the other hand, the Sb concentrations are lower than those of the lowest effect level which is the standard of judgment for contamination, while the As concentrations are higher than those of the lowest effect level. This implies that the surface sediments of the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea are considerably contaminated for As.

강낭콩 앙금 혼합율에 따른 양갱의 기계적.관능적 특성 (Instrumental and Sensory Characteristics of Yanggaeng Mixed with Kidney Bean Sediment)

  • The proximate composition and calorie of kidney bean sediment, amylogram, color, texture and sensory evaluation of Yanggaeng mixed with kidney bean sediment. Significant differences in the protein and fat contents were noticed among kidney bean sediment samples. The amylograms of sediment mixed with sugar and/or agar showed no peak and increase of viscosity compared with the control. When the Yanggaeng was prepared from the mixture of sediments of red bean and kidney bean, noticiable color changes were observed at 30% level of kidney bean sediment. Hardness and cohesiveness of Yanggaeng were increased but elasticity decreased as the proportion of kidney bean sediment increased. Sensory evaluation of Yanggaeng stored at $4^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr revealed that the product prepared from the mixture of red bean sediment (70%) and kidney bean sediment (30%) was not significantly different (p<0.05) compared with that from the 100% red bean sediment.

  • There are lots of the narrow pass on alluvial channel of Korea. Most of research about this narrow pass of channel were focused on incremental effect of water level at backwater segment. In the meantime this research showed that it is important to valuate the river-bed variation at backward and forward around narrow pass. The sediment deposit at not only the backward of narrow pass but also the forward affected incremental effect of water level. The sediment deposit at the forward of narrow pass headed by sediment that passed through the narrow passed or scoured right around it.
