지방족 할로겐화합물의 활성슬러지와 해안저질 및 점토에서의 흡탈착 특성 (Sorption/Desorption Characteristics of Halogenated Aliphatic Compounds from Activated Sludge, Sediment, and Clay)

  • This study was performed : 1) to establish the experimental analysis conditions for the sorption and desorption of toxic organic contaminants to/from the activated sludge, sediment, and clay, and 2) to determine the sorption and desorption equilibrium coefficients of some representative halogenated aliphatic compounds. Through the preliminary sorption test using Azo dye, a setting of quantitative experimental conditions to determine the sorption and desorption characteristics was decided as follows; equilibration time of 180 minutes, centrifuge for 15 minutes at 5000$\times$g, and 500mg/$\ell$ of TOC concentration. The sorption and desorption characteristics of halogenated aliphatic compounds onto activated sludge, sediment and clay could be described very well using the Freundlich isotherm. The preference of the average sorption capacity of the overall compounds showed in the sequence sediment 0.26mg/g, clay 0.23mg/g, and activated sludge 0.11 mg/g. The desorption rate of the sorbed compounds onto activated sludge, sediment and clay was approximately 89.8%, 35.3%, and 66.4%, respectively.

금강 하구 퇴적토의 이화학적 성질과 종속영양세균의 분포에 관하여 (Distribution of heterotrophic bacteria and physico-chemical characteristics of sediments in Kum river estuary)

  • Vertical distribution of heterotrophic bacteria and physico-chemical characteristics were measuted in Kum River estuarine sediments. And interrelationship between heterotrophic bacterka and environmental factors was also studied. The type of sediment of Site 1 was silty clay, and sand at Site 2. Annual pH ranges were between 7.1 and 7.7 in the clay type sediment (Site 1) and 6.9-7.2 in the sand type sediment (Site 2). It was shown that organic matter contents were higher in the clay type sediment than those of sand type sediment. Redox potential values of sediments were decreased rapidly with depth at Site 1, but those of Sete 2 showed vertical fluctuation. Nitrogens(ammonia+amino acid-N, nitrate-N, nitrite-N) and phosphate in the clay type sediment showed higher values than those of sand type sediment. Annual distribution of heterotrophic bacteria were ranged $6.71{\times}10^4$ cells/g dry wt. $-2.50{\times}10^6$ cells/g dry wt. In the clay type sediment and $2.67{\times}10^3$ cells/g dry wt. $-1.94{\times}10^6$ cells/g dry wt. in the sand type sediment. Distribution of proteolytic, lipolytic, and amylolytic bacteria were decreased with the depth and the highest density was found in April and the lowest in January. Bacterial populations in sediments were closely correlated with such environmental factors as pH, redox potential, moisture content, organic matter contents, and inorganic nutrients such as nitrite-N and phosphate-P.

하구퇴적토 환경에서 E.coli의 부착에 영향을 주는 물리화학적 요인 (Physicochemical factors affecting the adsorption of E. coli in estuarine sediments)

  • The higher bacterial numbers on clay than on sand were caused by different environmental factors. Such factors affecting the adsorption of E. coli ATCC 11775 in the sediment as follows; optimal pH range for the adsorption of E. coli ATCC 11775 was pH 7.5-pH 9.5. E. coli ATCC 11775 were shown maxima in the salinity of 18.$75%_{o}$ on sand type sediment and $12.5%_{o}$ on clay type sediment. Bacteria attached better to clay typed sediment than to sand typed sediment when organic substance was eliminated. Beef extract of 0.5%-1% concentration was found to promote the attachment of E. coli ATCC 11775 effectively. Peptone of 0.5% was enganced the attachment on the clay, and peptone of 1.3%-5%, on the sand. E. coli ATCC 11775 was found to adsorb onto benthonite with the highest efficiency and on celite with the lowest efficiency. Efficiency of adsorption by inorganic ions was shown due to higher values of ion. Adsorption was achieved in the order of $Al^{3+}, Ca^{2+}, Na^{+}$.

이중 주파수 에코 사운드 시스템을 이용한 부니층 두께 조사 (Estimation of the thickness of floating silty clay sediment using dual frequency single beam echo sound system)

  • 일반적으로 수심측량은 항측, 항해 분야에서 해저면의 지형을 조사하기 위해 사용되어왔다. 이 논문에서는 주파수에 따라 해저면에 대한 음파의 침투심도가 다르다는 사실을 이용하여 같은 지역에 대하여 고주파(200 KHz)와 저주파(33 KHz) 두개의 시스템을 이용하여 수심을 측정한 후 두 결과의 차이로부터 부니층의 두께를 조사하고자 하였다. 이 층의 물리적인 특성을 분석하기 위하여 RI 방사능 밀도 검층을 수행하여 비교하였다. 연구 대상지역은 광양만 투기장 건설 예정지역으로 부니층의 체적을 계산하여 적정한 투기장 규모를 설계하는데 이용되었다. 향후 항만 지역 및 호수 수계에 대한 정기적인 조사를 통하여 부니층 두께 또는 시간에 따른 퇴적 패턴에 대한 분석도 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

대천항 퇴적물의 유기물 및 중금속 분포 특성 (Distribution Characteristics of Organic Matter and Heavy Metal of Sediment in Daecheon Port)

  • In order to systematically and scientifically manage the organic and heavy metals against sediment at Daecheon Port, this study conducted particle composition, organic materials and heavy metals irradiation studies of sediments. Analysis of the grain size composition of sediments in the target study area showed the distribution characteristics of the mix of sand, silt and clay. That is, Station C (Stn. C) showed superior by fine-grained sediment, Station A and B (Stn. A and B) showed superior by coarse-grained sediment. The organic matter(COD, TOC, and IL) of Stn. C was appeared to be heavily polluted more than Stn. A and B. These data for the spatial properties in sediment showed that organic matter was related positively to the sediment silt-clay content. Also, in the case of heavy metals contamination in surface sediments, Stn. C was higher than Stn. A and B. Particularly, at the Stn. C, high organic matter concentration and C/N ratio value( >10) indicated that the sediment was composed highly of land-derived organic matter. From these results, it considered that the correlation analysis among to silt-clay, organic matter and heavy metal was found to have a good interrelationship.

황해와 한국연안해역 표층퇴적물중 Sb과 As의 농도분포특성 (The distribution characteristics of Sb and As in the surface sediment from the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea)

  • We report the distributions of Sb and As in the surface sediment of the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea. The mean concentrations of Sb and As range from 0.68 ppm to 1.01 ppm and from 7.4 ppm to 15.8 ppm, respectively, and show relatively the high concentrations at the coast of Weolseong in the East Sea for Sb and at the coast of Gadeok Island in the South Sea far As. This may be due to the anthropogenic input of these elements via river and atmosphere from industry complex and agriculture regions around the study areas. Because of the difference of clay to silt proportion, the correlation between silt plus clay contents and Sb, As in the coastal surface sediment of Korea is not shown, the concentrations of Sb and As vary widely for the sample in which the silt plus clay contents are the same. Therefore, we suggest that the distribution patterns of Sb and As in surface sediment of the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea are mainly controlled by the anthropogenic inputs and the sediment characteristics. On the other hand, the Sb concentrations are lower than those of the lowest effect level which is the standard of judgment for contamination, while the As concentrations are higher than those of the lowest effect level. This implies that the surface sediments of the Yellow Sea and the coastal areas of Korea are considerably contaminated for As.

황해 군산분지 표층 퇴적물의 점토광물 함량 분포 및 이동경향 연구 (Distribution of Clay Minerals in Surface Sediments of Kunsan Basin, Yellow Sea and their Transport Pathway)

  • 황해 군산분지 니질 퇴적물 이동양상을 알아보기 위하여, 표층 퇴적물과 코어 퇴적물 시료에 대한 점토광물 함량 공간분포 및 이동 경로 분석을 실시하였다. 표층 퇴적물의 점토광물 함량은 일라이트가 63.4~71.9%로 가장 우세하고, 다음으로 녹니석(15.1~20.2%), 고령석(10.3~17.2%), 스멕타이트(02~6.9%) 순으로 나타났다. 전반적으로 스멕타이트는 연구지역의 남부에서 상대적으로 높은 값을 보이며, 일라이트는 연구지역의 북쪽 중앙부, 그리고 고령석+녹니석은 연구지역의 북동부에서 상대적으로 높은 값을 보인다. 점토광물의 이동경로 파악을 위해 해저 수로 방향과 조석류 경로를 고려한 각 점토광물의 함량변화 추이를 살펴본 결과, 스멕타이트의 경우는 남쪽 황해 해곡에서 북쪽으로 갈수록 감소하는 뚜렷한 경향을 보였으나, 고령석+녹니석은 한국의 연안과 가까운 연구지역의 북동쪽에서 상대적으로 높은 함량을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 스멕타이트는 연구해역의 남쪽으로부터 반면, 고령석+녹니석은 한국 연안쪽으로부터 유입되었음을 보여준다. 코어 퇴적물 분석 결과, 현생 퇴적층에서 스멕타이트의 함량은 상부로 갈수록 감소하고, 대조적으로 고령석+녹니석의 함량은 증가하는 경향을 보인다. 이는 해수면 상승이 완료된 이후 중국으로부터 유입된 니질 퇴적물은 점차 감소하고 한국으로부터 유입된 니질 퇴적물은 상대적으로 증가했음을 보여준다.

갯벌의 수직적 환경 특성 (The vertical environmental characteristics in the tidal flat sediments)

  • As one of the fundamental survey to evaluate purification capacity of pollutants at the tidal flat sediments, we studied vertical environmental characteristics in three tidal flat sediments, Chunjangdae, Eueunri and Gyewhado. These are dissmilar to external feature in each other. The results of this study may be summarized as followed; As the results of particle analysis, Eueunri tidal flat fediment located in Keum river estuary consists of 98.98% as silt & clay, Chunjangdae tidal flat sediment located in SeocheonGun consists of 97.99% as sand. And Gyewhado tidal flat sediment located in Saemankeum in Saemankeum area consists area consists of 32.81% as silt & clay and 67.19% as sand. The concentration of organic pollutants(I.L., COD, POC, PON) in Eueunri tidal flat sediment which highly content of silt & clay were 3~4 times higher than others. The concentration of organic pollutants at each layer were slightly increase goes with deepen layer. The linear correlation between I.L. and COD, POC, PON were obtained. Correlation coefficients were in range of 0.821~0.940. Also the correlation between pH and COD, POC, PON were high(>r=0.9). Filteration rate in Chunjangdae tidal flat sediment was 0.01584cm/s as mean value, but the other were almost nothing filtered off.

하천 퇴적물의 입자크기에 따른 불소의 흡착 특성 (Effect of Particle Size of Sediment on Adsorption of Fluoride)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of particle size of sediment on adsorption of fluoride. Particle size is classified as sand, silt and clay. Adsorption equilibrium time, adsorption isotherms and the effect of pH were investigated through batch tests. The $pH_{pzc}$ of sand, silt, clay was respectively 6, 8, 4.5 and AEC (anion exchange capacity) was highest in silt, respectively 0.0095, 0.0224, $0.014meq\;g^{-1}$. Adsorption of fluoride on the sediment was in equilibrium within 300 minutes from all particle size. The experimental data of isotherms at various pH were well explained by Freundlich equation. As the experimental results of the effect of pH, the adsorption efficiency of sand and silt were reduced after the $pH_{pzc}$. However, the adsorption efficiency of clay was maintained after the $pH_{pzc}$, and decreased rapidly higher than pH 12.

강원 영서지역 춘천 고성리 가마터 출토 백자 및 태토 원료의 상관관계 연구 (A Study on the Relationships between White Wares and Raw Materials Excavated at Goseong-ri Kiln Site in Chuncheon, Yeongseo Province, Gangwon-do)

  • 본 연구에서는 춘천 고성리 백자가마터에서 출토된 백자 편, 백토 적치장 수습 백토 원료, 수비공 1호 내 태토 침전물 등 총 3그룹을 대상으로 재료학적 분석을 진행하였다. 연구목적은 도자기 제조과정에서 최초로 적치된 백토, 수비를 거친 태토, 최종 제작된 도자기 태토원료의 화학적 특성을 비교하고자 하였으며, 제작 완료된 춘천 고성리 가마터 백자의 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 분석방법으로는 주성분 분석, 미량성분 분석, 광물상 분석을 실시하였다. 주성분 분석결과 분석대상 백자의 태토는 RO2 4.04~4.28, RO + R2O 0.30~0.31 몰의 영역에서 군집하며, 수비공 1호 내 태토 침전물과 비교적 유사한 함량을 나타내었다. 하지만, 백토 적치장 수습 백토 원료와는 큰 차이가 확인되었으며, 이는 보다 양질의 도자기를 제작하기 위해 태토의 수비과정을 거치면서 발생한 결과로 확인되었다. 태토의 광물상에서는 백토 적치장 수습 백토 원료 및 수비공 1호 내 태토 침전물의 광물상은 거의 일치하지만, 출토 백자 완성품의 태토에서는 소성과정을 거치면서 소성온도에 의해 상전이 된 결과로 Quartz와 Mullite이 검출되었다. 도자기의 제작과정 및 태토 원료의 풍화과정에 영향을 받지 않는 희토류 원소는 3그룹 모두 일정한 경향성을 나타내어 동일기원임을 알 수 있었다.
