  • With the government policy on converting contract workers to full-time employees, there have been significant changes about the security personnel at the nation's critical facilities, including the National Assembly Building and airports. Moreover, the scheduled disbandment of the conscripted police force in 2023 has raised concerns about security management at different government agencies. To examine the college students' perceptions on the possible alternatives to fill the expected security gap, 234 undergraduate students of security management and protection in the Seoul metropolitan region were surveyed. Particularly, a comparative analysis was conducted on the legal bases and supervision, the employment types and salaries, and the scopes of responsibility and authority of suggested alternatives were compared. The results showed that utilization of private police forces was thought to be the most effective option. Based on the research findings, the university departments should develop and maintain a quality curriculum to educate their students to be prepared security professionals with a focus on emergency response capabilities and martial arts, including the courses on private police law and emergency rescue and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant community challenges towards higher education around the world. The urgent and unexpected request for full-time university courses to switch over to online teaching was a particular challenge. Online learning and learning imply a certain pedagogical knowledge content (PKC), mainly related to the design and organization for better learning and the creation of unique learning environments using digital technologies. With the help of the present academic paper, we provide some expert opinion on the PKC connected with online learning with the aim of helping non-university professionals (that is, those with lack of online learning experience) navigate these challenging times. Our findings point to the planning of learning activities with certain features, a combination of three types of presence (social, cognitive and facilitative) and the need to adapt the assessment system to new learning requirements. We will conclude by contemplating on how responding to a crisis can improve teaching and learning practices in the post-digital era.

  • The primary goal of any classroom is effective teaching and student learning, with an emphasis on changing negative students' behaviors into positive ones. This change can occur when students' behavior is always at the forefront of teachers' educational goals. The current study aimed to reveal the experiences of special education teachers in dealing with the behavioral problems that students with disabilities show by identifying behavioral problems among students with disabilities and investigating the efficacy of the application of behavior modification plans and strategies designed to address the behavioral problems presented by students with disabilities. The researcher used a qualitative phenomenological approach, and the study tool consisted of semi-structured interviews that consisted of (13) questions directed to (10) special education male and female teachers who work in special education centres and institutes. The data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method. The findings of the study showed that the most undesirable behaviors prevalent among students with disabilities in the classroom were aggression, bullying and ADHD. The actions taken by teachers in confronting these behaviors were not systematic and were carried out randomly, as no behavior modification plans were applied. The most important strategies used by teachers in facing behavioral problems were applied behavioral analysis (ABA) strategies such as reinforcement, punishment and ignoring. The results have many important implications for future practice, including the need to conduct practical training courses for special education teachers to implement behavior modification plans and develop methods of measuring inappropriate behavior.
