A Study on Image Noise Reduction Technique for Low Light Level Environment (저조도 환경의 영상 잡음제거 기술에 관한 연구)

  • Recent advance of digital camera results in that image signal processing techniques are widely adopted to railroad security management. However, due to the nature of railroad management many images are acquired in low light level environment such as night scenes. The lack of light causes lots of noise in the image, which degrades image quality and causes errors in the next processes. 3D noise reducing techniques produce better results by using consecutive sequence of images. On the other hand, they cause degradation such as motion blur if there are motions in the sequence. In this paper, we use an adaptive weight filter to estimate more accurate motions and use the result of the adaptive filter to 3D result to improve objective and subjective mage quality.

  • Rapid developments of industry and economics have made a metropolis which demands an effective urban transport management system (UTMS). Specially, this paper considers a subway surveillance system based on integrated wireless LAN technologies for public safety. Since a current subway platform security entirely relies on conventional closed circuit television camera (CCTV) or human operators, subway train drivers cannot detect platform states and cope with abnormal situations or accidents immediately. However, through the IP cameras and some wireless routers, high qualify images of the platform conditions can be directly delivered to the train drivers and other station employees in advance of train entering the platform. In this paper, several design issues and problems are discussed when building up the subway management system. Further, we illustrate a system model with the system requirements in real parametric values in order to draw concrete system designs and to realize a practical implementation of the future UTMS.

  • This paper proposes an one-time authentication system for web applications by making use of the quick-response code, which is widely used nowadays. The process is not time-consuming. It does not require any browser extensions or specific hardware to complete a task. The system uses QR code which is basically a two-dimensional black and white image encoding a piece of digital information. When a user logs into a site, the web server will generate a challenge encoded to form a QR code. The user captures a picture of QR code with a mobile camera which results in decoding the QR code. The challenge shall be sent back to the server; the web server then logs the PC browser in. The authentication using Challenge-Response is easy to understand and the process is fast. The system proposes the improvement of usability and security of online authentication.

  • Pre-existing authentication system such as token based method, knowledge-based and hybrid method have problems such as loss and wiretapping. for this, this paper describes the biometric authentication system which have the excellent convenience and security. In particular, a new biometric system by human face biometric features which have the non-enforcement and non-touch measurement is proposed. Firstly, facial features are extracted by Y- histogram and tilted face images we corrected by coordinate transformation and scaling has done for achieving independent of the camera positions. Secondly, feature vectors are extracted such as distance and intersection angles and similarities we measured by fuzzy relation matrix. finally, the effectiveness of this paper is demonstrated by experiments.

  • 보안과 관련된 기술이 발전하여 대규모의 장소에 적합한 보안시스템들이 많이 개발되었다. 특히 CCTV를 이용한 감시카메라의 형태도 다양화되었다. 스마트폰의 어플리케이션이나 웹을 통해서 어디서든 감시할 수도 있어, 이를 통해 보안사고 시에 빠른 대처가 가능하다. 하지만 대규모 시스템이 아닌 경우에는 침입자 발견이 늦고, 뒤늦은 대처로 인해 큰 피해가 발생할 수 있다. 라즈베리파이, 실드 보드 등 기타 하드웨어들을 통하여 침입자를 스스로 감지하여 사용자에게 즉시 알림을 전송함으로써 보안사고에 대한 대처를 빠르고 효율적으로 할 수 있는 보안카메라를 구현하였다. 본 보안 시스템은 소리의 방향을 계산하고 정확한 방향으로의 보정을 통하여 최초 침입자를 인식한다. 이후 이미지트래킹을 통하여 침입자를 추적한다. 무선 네트워크를 이용하기 때문에 네트워크가 지원되는 어느 장소에서든지 사용이 가능하다. 대규모 보안시스템을 설치할 여건이 되기 어려운 작은 공장, 상가, 사무실 등에서 보안시스템으로 사용되면 유용할 것이다. 자세한 개발 내용은 본문에 기술한다.

Automatic Extraction of UV patterns for Paper Money Inspection (지폐검사를 위한 UV 패턴의 자동추출)

  • Most recently issued paper money includes security patterns that can be only identified by ultra violet (UV) illuminations. We propose an automatic extraction method of UV patterns for paper money inspection systems. The image acquired by camera and UV illumination is transformed to input data through preprocessing. And then, the Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and split-and-merge expectation maximization (SMEM) algorithm are applied to segment the image represented by input data. In order to extract the UV pattern from the segmented image, we develop a criterion using the area of covariance vector and the weight value. The experimental results on various paper money are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

Bio-inspired Structural Colors of Transparent Substrate based on Light Diffraction and Interference on Microscale and Nanoscale Structures (자연모사기반 나노-마이크로패턴의 광 회절 및 간섭에 의한 투명기판의 구조색 구현)

  • This paper addresses effects of nanoscale structures on structural colors of micropatterned transparent substrate by light diffraction. Structural colors is widely investigated because they present colors without any chemical pigments. Typically structural colors is presented by diffraction of light on a micropatterned surface or by multiple interference of light on a surface containing a periodic or quasi-periodic nano-structures. In this paper, each structural colors induced by quasi-periodic nano-structures, periodic micro-structures, and nano/micro dual structures is measured in order to investigate effects of nanoscale and microscale structures on structural colors in the transparent substrate. Using pre-fabricated pattern mold and hot-embossing process, nanoscale and microscale structures are replicated on the transparent PMMA(Poly methyl methacrylate) substrate. Nanoscale and microscale pattern molds are prepared by anodic oxidation process of aluminum sheet and by reactive ion etching process of silicon wafer, respectively. Structural colors are captured by digital camera, and their optical transmittance spectrum are measured by UV/visible spectrometer. From experimental results, we found that nano-structures provide monotonic colors by multiple interference, and micro-structures induce iridescent colors by diffraction of light. Structural colors is permanent and unchangeable, thus it can be used in various application field such as security, color filter and so on.

An Encoding Scheme Considering Diffused Lights In a Visual Light Communication System (가시광통신체계에서 난반사 조명을 고려한 인코딩 스킴)

  • Visible light communication technology is being studied and developed in various ways due to advantages such as high transmission speed, excellent positioning and higher security. However, existing visible light communication systems have difficulties in entering the market because they use special transmitters and receivers. We will overcome the difficulty if we develope a VLC system that uses a conventional LED light as a transmitter and a smartphone camera as a receiver. What matters is that LED lights include a scatter filter to prevent glareness for human eyes, but the existing VLC(Visual Light Communication) method can not be applied. In this paper, we propose a method to encode data with On / Off patterns of LEDs in the lighting with $M{\times}N$ LEDs. We defined parameters like L-off-able and K-seperated to facilitate the recognition of On / Off patterns in the diffused Lights. We conducted experiments using an LED lighting and smart phones to determine the parameter values. Also, the maximum transmission rate of our encoding technique is mathematically presented. Our encoding scheme can be applied to indoor and outdoor positioning applications or settlement of commercial transactions.

  • In this paper, a license plate investigation which is one of parking usage is performed. We survey research that should be given time interval using the camera without the observer. We assigned the investigation time interval to each of to each of the parking car, average parking duration is determined. Parking turnover, the number of vehicles of parking per hour per parking surface, is examined.

  • With the recent development of deep learning technology, computer vision-based AI technologies have been studied to analyze the abnormal behavior of objects in image information acquired through CCTV cameras. There are many cases where surveillance cameras are installed in dangerous areas or security areas for crime prevention and surveillance. For this reason, companies are conducting studies to determine major situations such as intrusion, roaming, falls, and assault in the surveillance camera environment. In this paper, we propose a real-time abnormal behavior analysis algorithm using object detection and tracking method.
