The bending process for the "ㄱ" section product can be developed by the hot metal extrusion machine with the two punches moving in the different velocity. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by difference of velocity at the die exit section by the different velocity of billets through the two-hole container. The results of the experiment show that "ㄱ" section product can be bended by the extrusion process and that the curvature of the product can be controlled by the velocity of punch and that the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the product and the folding and wrinkling of the product did not happen after the bending processing by the extrusion bending machine.
Fault section isolation and service restoration are very important for function of DAS. In Japan, a progressive protection method is used for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration. But the progressive protection method has a drawback that the customer will experience outage time and that the rate in use of the feeder is not over 50%. This paper presents a new Service Restoration Algorithm which is for the line to ground fault section isolation and service restoration method for a ungrounded distribution system. If the proposed algorithm is used, the rate in use of the feeder can improve than before because a distribution system can change multi connection of feeder and the customer's outage time can be reduced. The proposed algorithm has been successfully tested in a distribution system.
In this paper, our study focuses on obtaining the differences of emotional speech in three different vocal tract sections. The vocal tract area was computed from the area function of the emotional speech. The total vocal tract was divided into 3 sections (vocal fold section, middle section and lip section) to acquire the differences in each vocal tract section of emotional speech. The experiment data include 6 emotional speeches from 3 males and 3 females. The 6 emotions consist of neutral, happiness, anger, sadness, fear and boredom. The measured difference is computed by the ratio through comparing each emotional speech with the normal speech. The experimental results present that there is not a remarkable difference at lip section, but the fear and sadness have a great change at the vocal fold part.
In end milling process, the undeformed chip section area and cutting forces vary periodically with phase change of the tool. However the real undeformed chip section area deviates from the geometrically ideal one owing to cutter runout and tool shape error. In this study ,a method of estimating the real undeformed chip section area which reflects cutter runout and tool shape error was presented in up end milling process using measured cutting forces. Size effect was identified from the analysis of specific cutting resistance obtained by using the modified undeformed chip section area.
This paper discusses the effects of ECC (Earth Continuity Conductor) for reducing the level of induced sheath overvoltages at the single point bonded section of combined transmission lines which are mixed underground power cable with overhead line in one T/L. In previous papers, the characteristics of ECC on only underground power cable systems were sufficiently analyzed. However, the result of only underground power cable systems are totally different from that of combined transmission lines because ECC is commonly grounded with overhead grounding wire at mesh of cable head. Therefore, in this paper, the installation effects of ECC have been variously analyzed considering the three kinds of fault positions, cable formation of duct and trefoil, spacing between phase conductor and ECC, and the change of overhead transmission line section length on 154kV combined transmission line. Finally, simulation results show that ECC can effectively reduce the induced sheath voltage.
This paper provides a simple method by which to estimate the cross-section stress profiles for nozzles designed according to ASME Code Section III. Further, this method validates the effectiveness of earlier work performed by the authors on standard nozzles. The method requires only the geometric information of the pressure vessel and the attached nozzle. A PWR direct vessel injection nozzle, a PWR outlet nozzle, a PWR inlet nozzle and a BWR recirculation outlet nozzle are selected based on their corresponding specific designs, e.g., a varying nozzle radius, a varying nozzle thickness and an outlet nozzle boss. A cross-section stress profile comparison shows that the estimates are in good agreement with the finite element analysis results. Differences in stress intensity factors calculated in accordance with ASME BPVC Section XI Appendix G are discussed. In addition, a change in the dimensions of an alternate nozzle design relative to the standard values is discussed, focusing on the stress concentration factors of the nozzle inside corner.
This study aims to analyze the sedimentary environment change in mid-channel bar of the lower Geum river basin after the construction of the estuary barrage using multi-temporal satellite data and GIS. The sedimentary environment changes were observed in mid-channel bar areas. The mid-channel bar F was found to have been newly formed for 10 years(1996-2006), whereas the mid-channel bar B located between mid-channel bar A and C has disappeared by erosion during the same periods. When examined by section, the areas of the mid-channel bar in the upper stream section from the Yipo's reference point generally increased due to the prevailing sedimentary environments, and those of the downstream section decreased where corrosive environments are dominant. In ternms of the centroid movement, the mid-channel bars grew up toward the downstream by switching erosion and accumulation, as sedimentation was prevailing in the downstream area of mid-channel bars and corrosion was dominant in the upper stream. Through grain size analysis, the study areas are divided into three sections according to the average grain size. In Section I, the mid-channel bars were formed as a result of sedimentary process of tides in the past. In Section II, the mid-channel bars were formed partly through the sedimentary process of rivers although the sedimentary process of tides is prevailing. In Section III, the mid-channel bars were formed mainly through the sedimentary process of rivers, even if it showed the sedimentary process of tides in the past.

Objective: In many TMD cases, deformed and reduced condyle heads were frequently observed. This study was prepared to compare the dimensions between normal and symptomatic condyles, using MR images. Materials: One hundred and twenty one patients with clinical signs and MRI-confirmed diagnosis of disc displacement were selected for this study. Thirty eight TMJs from nineteen asymptomatic volunteers who had no clinical symptoms and no disc displacement on sagittal and coronal view of MRI, were served as normal. Methods: Symptomatic condyles were classified according to the severity of the anterior disc displacement. The amount of anterior disc displacement was evaluated at sagittal section, and they were classified into 4 groups as normal(N), little(G0), mild(G1), moderate(G2) and severe displacement(G3). The dimentions of condyle were measured at the 200% magnified view, by digitizing program. All dimensions were compared among each groups on the central section of sagittal and coronal views, and the statistical analysis was performed. Results: The mean value of anteroposterior length of normal condyle was $0.79{\pm}0.13cm$ at sagittal section and mediolateral length was $2.12{\pm}0.22cm$ on coronal section. The mean value of anteroposterior length of symptomatic condyle was $0.67{\pm}0.16cm$ at sagittal section and mediolateral length was $1.97{\pm}0.28cm$ on coronal section. Conclusions: The size of symptomatic condyle was smaller than normal TMJ. The size of condyle was decreased as the amount of the disc displacement was increased. The dimensional change was found on the anterior articular surface of condyle at the mild or moderate disc displacement. And at the case of severe disc displacement, dimensional change was found on the superior articular surface.
Objectives: This study aimed to compare the effects of high frequency electroacupuncture, low frequency electroacupuncture and manual acupuncture on the autonomic nervous system in stroke patients by using a heart rate variability measuring device. Methods: Thirty-nine participants were recruited and each participated in the high frequency electroacupuncture group, low frequency electroacupuncture group, manual acupuncture group and non-acupuncture group. Some participants received needle insertion with 100 Hz stimulation, with 2Hz stimulation and manual stimulation under mental arithmetic stress during 2 sections. Other participants maintained in the supine position without acupuncture under mental arithmetic stress during the 2 sections. Acupuncture needles were directly inserted perpendicularly to the right Liv 3 acupoint followed by delivery of electric pulses to these points for 8 minutes. Heart rate variability was measured 8 minutes before and 16 minutes after acupuncture stimulation by a heart rate variability measuring system. Results: We found a significant elevated HF total power between 1 section and 2 section and between 1 section and 4 section in the non-acupuncture group, between 3 section and 4 section in the 100Hz electroacupuncture group, and between 1 section and 2 section in the manual acupuncture group and with no change in the 2Hz electroacupuncture group. We also found a significant VLF total power between 2 section and 3 section in the 2Hz electroacupuncture group and between 1 section and 4 section and between 2 section and 4 section in the 100Hz electroacupuncture group. All four groups showed no significant differences in other parameters including heart rate mean, low-frequency power, and the ratio of low-frequency power to high-frequency power. Conclusions: This study may be a basis for research about effects of acupuncture and electroacupuncture because the parameters measured, heart rate variability, showed differences according to acupuncture.
