It is increasing construction of long span railway bridge with concrete track system for speed up of railway and efficient maintenance of track. As the sleeper of the concrete track system layed on a bridge is fixed on deck of the bridge, the displacement of the sleeper and deck is same. Therefore, the spacing between two sleeper installed at the end of the adjacent deck near the expansion joint of bridge becomes vary according to the longitudinal expansion of a deck by temperature change. By the way, if the spacing of sleepers become increase excessively, it causes large bending stress of in a rail, and it can leads failure or reduction of fatigue life of the rail. Further more, the excessive displacement of the rail may induce decrease ride comfort as well as corrugation of rail surface. Therefore, it is required to determine the allowable maximum sleeper spacing to prevent such problems. For the purpose, investigation on the influence factor on sleeper spacing for straight track was carried out. Variation of bending moment in a rail, wheel force, and the ratio of primary and secondary deflection of the rail according to sleeper spacing was investigated, and, as a result, the maximum allowable sleeper spacing at the bridge expansion joint was suggested.

For the past years, higher power rating 2 stroke super long stroke diesel engines having more than 8 cylinders and larger cylinder bore are installed mainly on very large containerships to save on fuel consumption. However, these engines are prone to X-mode vibration due to 2nd node torsional vibration or the X-type moment, particularly because of the increase in total length and height. Recently, cases of excessive X-mode vibration often occurred on engine's major components. This vibration is manifested also as secondary vibration causing failure in engine-mount large structures. This study investigated the excitations caused by the 2nd node propulsion shafting torsional vibration that influence X-mode vibration of the main engine and practical countermeasures are proposed. An 8RT-flex82T 8 cylinder engine and 11S90ME-C 11 cylinder engine for a container ship was used as research model.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and test the effect of financial ratios and macroeconomics on Islamic stock returns listed in Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) other than to assess whether investment risk can be an intervening variable in this study. The type of research is explanatory in nature with a quantitative descriptive approach. The data used is based on secondary sources with a sample group of 29 companies listed on JII for a 5-year period ending 31 December 2018. The data obtained were analyzed by using SEM (Structural Equation Model) with AMOS (Analysis Moment of Structural) 21 program. The results of the study show that only financial ratios affect sharia stock returns and investment risk, while the mediation test found that investment risk does not act as a mediating variable between financial ratios and macroeconomics and Islamic stock return. These findings indicate that the role of the company's financial health is very important. Besides affecting the rate of return obtained, the company's financial health can also reflect the level of risk that investors will accept in the future. By improving financial performance properly, a company will have a positive impact on various interested parties and minimize the level of investor losses.

In this paper, the dynamic response of a multi-story steel moment resisting frame equipped with viscoelastic dampers or lead rubber bearing type isolators subjected to seismic loads is investigated analytically. The objective of this study is to find the best location of viscoelastic dampers by the maximum stress method and maximum story drifts method from structure analysis. Also, a secondary objective of the study is to compare the member force, combined stress, and natural period of the structure retrofitted with viscoelastic dampers or lead rubber bearing type isolators to find effective vibration control method.
Thrust vector control is the method which generates the side force and roll moment by controlling exhausted gas directly in a rocket nozzle. TVC is classified by mechanical and fluid dynamic methods. Mechanical methods can change the flow direction by several objects installed in a rocket nozzle exhaust such as tapered ramp tabs and jet vane. Fluid dynamic methods control the flight direction with the injection of secondary gaseous flows into the rocket nozzle. The tapered ramp tabs of mechanical methods are used in this paper. They installed at the rear in the rocket nozzle could be freely moved along axial and radial direction on the mounting ring to provide the mass flow rate which is injected from the rocket nozzle. TVC of the tapered ramp tabs has the potential to produce both large axial thrust and high lateral force. We have conducted the experimental research and flow analysis of ramp tabs to show the performance and the structural integrity of the TVC. The experiments are carried out with the supersonic cold flow system and the schlieren graph. This paper provides to analyze the location of normal shock wave and distribution of surface pressure on the region enclosed by the tapered ramp tabs.

Reinforced concrete corbel beams (span to depth ratio of a corbel is less than one) are designed with primary reinforcement bars to account for bending moment and with the secondary reinforcement placed parallel to the primary reinforcement (shear stirrups) to resist shear force. It is interesting to note that most of the available analytical procedures employ empirical formulas for the analysis of reinforced concrete corbels. In the present work, a generalized and a simple strut and tie models were employed for the analysis of reinforced corbel beams. The models were benchmarked against experimental results available in the literature. It was shown here that increase of shear stirrups increases the load carrying capacity of reinforced concrete corbel beams. The effect of horizontal load on the load carrying capacity of the corbel beams has also been examined in the present paper. It is observed from the strut and tie models that the resistance of the corbel beam subjected to combined horizontal and vertical load did not change with increase in shear stirrups if the failure of the corbel is limited by concrete crushing. In other words, the load carrying capacity was independent of the horizontal load when failure of the beam occurred due to concrete crushing.

Application of composite structures on naval ships strongly depends on the mechanical strength and collapse behavior of the T-joints of the whole structure. Because of the weight advantages over single skin composite and bolt fastening joining, three types of T-joints using both honeycomb sandwich composite and adhesive bonding were suggested to determine the effect of T-joint configuration. It was found that joining with a urethane foam block and overlaminates using the secondary co-bonding technique improves T-joint strength.

For the past years, higher power rating 2 stroke super long stroke diesel engines having more than 8 cylinders and larger cylinder bore are installed mainly on very large containerships to save on fuel consumption. However, these engines are prone to X-mode vibration due to $2^{nd}$ node torsional vibration or the X-type moment, particularly because of the increase in total length and height. Recently, cases of excessive X-mode vibration often occurred on engine's major components. This vibration is manifested also as secondary vibration causing failure in engine-mount large structures. This study investigated the excitations caused by the $2^{nd}$ node propulsion shafting torsional vibration that influence X-mode vibration of the main engine and practical countermeasures are proposed. An 8RT-82RT-flex 8 cylinder engine and 11S90S-ME 11 cylinder engine for a container ship was used as research model.
The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the nature and relationship of attitudes of mothers and their daughters concerning the value of children. the secondary interest was to compare this study with the American studies done by Bormann & Stockdale(1979), and Leavy & Hough(1983). Subjects for the study were college-age daughters their married sisters, and their mothers. The“Fawcett Opinions about Children Questionnair”was used to measure beliefs about children. Pearson Product Moment Correlations were computed for mother-daughter(married), mother-daughter(unmarried), and daughter(married)-daughter (unmarried) on each of nine subscales on value of children. To study the generation differences and marriage differences, matched sample t-test were carried. Several significant relationships were found for mother-daughter (married), daughter(married)-daughter (unmarried) pairs. Only one significant relationship was found for mother-daughter(unmarried) pairs. Significant differences were found between mother's group and daughters' groups on most subscales except one or two (generation effect). Significant differences were found between married daughters and unmarried daughters on 4 subscales(marriage effect). The results did not corroborate the findings of American studies which revealed the lack of congruence between mother and daughter attitudes. It was noted that as daughters had children themselves, their attitudes toward children had become more congruent with their mothers. There was also evidence to support the generation differences between mothers and daughters values. It was concluded that both value similarity and generation differences vary as a function of the particular events as well as age-itself.

Ship's diesel engines have intrinsic problem to make vibrations caused by cylinder explosion and unbalanced rotating mass. These vibrations might induce noises, are transferred to hull and neighboring structures and cause secondary vibrations. This paper suggests the use of an additional dynamic absorber with a sub-vibration system to reduce the aforementioned vibrations. This dynamic absorber is designed based on an analysis of the free vibration of the engine shafting system and the forced vibrations.
