The acceptance test of KTX has been performed in Korea. During the test, lateral vibration of carbody over the accepted value called sway was found. KTX has 20 car trainset formation whose trailer cars are linked by articulate bogies. So this study is performed to see the effects of long trainset formation on vehicle dynamics and the train stability by 20 car vehicle model. Firstly the reliable vehicle model which shows well the tendencies appeared in the tests on the high speed test line is required to find the cause of lateral vibration and the countermeasure. Vehicle model was made .for the. analysis with VAMPIRE. The analysis results show that secondary air spring lateral stiffness is the most significant parameter to cause carbody lateral vibration. Mode analysis results show that the least damped mode shape is similar to the vibration pattern shown in the tests that the amplitude of the motion increases along the train set and decreases in the tail part. For the case of short train formation with 7 or 10cars, sway does not happen. But in the case of longer train formation with 16 or 20 cars, sway was found.

Beam-column joints (BCJs) are recognized among the most crucial zones in reinforced concrete structures, as they are the critical elements subjected to a complex state of forces during a severe earthquake. Under such conditions, BCJs exhibit behaviors with impacts that extend to the whole structure and significantly influence its ductility and capability of dissipating energy. The focus of this paper is to investigate the effect of undamaged transverse beam (secondary beams) on the ductility of concrete BCJs reinforced with conventional steel and shape memory alloys bars using pushover analysis at tip of beam under different axial load levels at the column using a nonlinear finite element model in ABAQUS environment. A numerical model of a BCJ was constructed and the analysis outcomes were verified by comparing them to those obtained from previous experiments found in the literature. The comparison evidenced the capability of the calibrated model to predict the load capacity response of the joint. Results proved the ability of undamaged secondary beams to provide a noticeable improvement to the ductility of reinforced concrete joints, with a very negligible loss in load capacity. However, the effect of secondary beams can become less significant if the beams are damaged due to seismic effects. In addition, the axial load was found to significantly enhance the performance of BCJs, where the increase in axial load magnified the capacity of the joint. However, higher values of axial load resulted in greater initial stiffness of the BCJ.
A suspension is the most prior apparatus to decide vehicle's running safety and ride comfort, also the suspension stiffness is the most important parameter for the designing of the vehicle. Providing the strong stiffness with the primary suspension in order to improve the running safety with high speed, but it causes a problem with a curve running performance of a railway vehicle. Therefore, many studies deal with the optimal value of suspension stiffness. In this paper, we aim to optimize the suspension system to improve running safety by varying stiffness values of railway vehicle suspension. We have proceeded an analysis by design variables which are position, length, width, stiffness and damping coefficients of primary and secondary suspension to optimize the suspension characteristics. As a result of the optimization, we verified that the derailment coefficients of inside and outside of wheel are decreased in comparison with initial model.
Fibromyalgia syndrome is defined as a diffuse, aching musculoskeletal pain associated with multiple and discrete predictable tender points along with stiffness. A primary form associated without any disease is uncommon compared to the secondary diffuse fibrositis. We witnessed a case of a primary fibromyalgia syndrome. A 28-year-old woman was suffering from pain on posterior neck, right shoulder, upper back, left hand and arm for two years. She also complained of morning stiffness, fatigue, and headache. We treated her with stellate ganglion block with 0.25% bupivacaine, medication that included amitriptyline, TENS and superlizer. We also recommended aerobic exercise.
This paper presents an experimental study on constructing a tunable secondary suspension for high-speed trains using magneto-rheological fluid dampers (referred to as MR dampers hereafter), in the interest of improving lateral ride comfort. Two types of MR dampers (type-A and type-B) with different control ranges are designed and fabricated. The developed dampers are incorporated into a secondary suspension of a full-scale high-speed train carriage for rolling-vibration tests. The integrated rail vehicle runs at a series of speeds from 40 to 380 km/h and with different current inputs to the MR dampers. The dynamic performance of the two suspension systems and the ride comfort rating of the rail vehicle are evaluated using the accelerations measured during the tests. In this way, the effectiveness of the developed MR dampers for attenuating vibration is assessed. The type-A MR dampers function like a stiffness component, rather than an energy dissipative device, during the tests with different running speeds. While, the type-B MR dampers exhibit significant damping and high current input to the dampers may adversely affect the ride comfort. As part of an ongoing investigation on devising an effective MR secondary suspension for lateral vibration suppression, this preliminary study provides an insight into dynamic behavior of high-speed train secondary suspensions and unique full-scale experimental data for optimal design of MR dampers suitable for high-speed rail applications.

Hihg Tensile Steel enables to reduce the plate thickness comparing to the case when Mild Steel is used. From the economical view points this is very preferable since the reduction in the hull weight. however to use the High Tensile Steel effectively the plate thickness may become thin so that the occurrence of buckling is inevitable and design allowing plate buckling may be necessary. If the inplane stiffness of the plating decreases due to buckling the flexural rigidity of the cross sect6ion of a ship's hull also decreases. This may lead to excessive deflection of the hull girder under longitudinal bending. In these cases a precise estimation of plate's behavior after buckling is necessary and nonliner analysis of isolated and stiffened plates is required for structural sys-tem analysis. In this connection this paper discusses nonlinear behaviour of thin plate under thrust. Based on the analytical method elastic large deflection analysis of isolated plate is perform and simple expression are derived to evaluated the inplane rigidity of plates subjected to uniaxial compression.

With the emergence of high-integration array and large area panel process, the need to minimize the generation of particles in the field of semiconductor, LCD and OLED has grown. As an alternative to the conventional roller system, a contactless magnetic conveyor has been proposed to reduce the generation of particles. An EM-PM hybrid which is one of magnetic levitation types is already proposed for the conveyor system. One of problems pointed out with this approach is the vibration caused by the dynamic interaction between conveyor and rail. To reduce the vibration, the introduction of a secondary suspension system which aims to decouple the levitation electromagnet from the main body is proposed. The objective of this study is to develop a dynamic model for the magnetically levitated conveyor, and to investigate the effect of the introduced suspension system. An integrated model of levitation system and rail based on 3D multibody dynamic model is proposed. With the proposed model, the dynamic characteristics of maglev conveyor system are analyzed, and the effect of the secondary suspension and the stiffness and damping are investigated.
A framed structure may be composed of two sub-structures, which are linked by a hinged joint. One sub-structure is the primary system and the other is the secondary system. The primary system, which is subjected to the periodic external load, can give rise to an auto-parametric resonance of the second system. Considering the geometric-stiffness effect produced by the axially internal force, the element equation of motion is derived by the extended Hamilton's principle. The element equations are then assembled into the global non-homogeneous Mathieu-Hill equations. The Newmark's method is introduced to solve the time-history responses of the non-homogeneous Mathieu-Hill equations. The energy-growth exponent/coefficient (EGE/EGC) and a finite-time Lyapunov exponent (FLE) are proposed for determining the auto-parametric instability boundaries of the structural system. The auto-parametric instabilities are numerically analyzed for the two frames. The influence of relative stiffness between the primary and secondary systems on the auto-parametric instability boundaries is investigated. A phenomenon of the "auto-parametric internal resonance" (the auto-parametric resonance of the second system induced by a normal resonance of the primary system) is predicted through the two numerical examples. The risk of auto-parametric internal resonance is emphasized. An auto-parametric resonance experiment of a ${\Gamma}$-shaped frame is conducted for verifying the theoretical predictions and present calculation method.

This paper describes the dynamic behavior and enhancement of Korean high-speed trains. The tail vibration reduction method of the yaw damper installation method change, which was derived from previous research, was applied to the running test of high-speed train. In addition, the vibration reduction method for the entire vehicle was derived by a numerical method and its effect was confirmed by a running test. The improved design was applied to the double-deck high-speed train coaches and the commissioning proceeded without problems in dynamic behavior. Sensitivity analysis of the suspension parameters affecting the critical speed of Korean next-generation high-speed trains was performed and four design variables that greatly affected the critical speed were derived. These were in the order of the primary elastic joint x-directional stiffness, the secondary yaw damper series stiffness, the secondary lateral damper damping coefficient, and the carbody damper damping coefficient. By optimizing the design variables, the suspension parameter that improves the critical speed by 23.3% can be used in the commercial designs of Korean next-generation high-speed trains.
