  • Purpose: This study was investigated basic data for verifying the effect of rope skipping exercise by comparing and analyzing the effects on the body composition of female students. Method: The subjects of this study were 12 female college students and the rope-skipping exercise program was conducted after the purpose and process of this study were explained and the consent of the subjects was obtained. And we used the body composition analyzer (Inbody 520, Korea) to measure before and after exercise of Body Mass Index (BMI), Percentage Body Fat (PBF) and Waist Hip Ratio (WHR). Result: First, the daily living group and the rope-skipping exercise group showed a significant difference in the BMI according to the period and there was no significant difference between the groups. Second, in the PBF, there were no significant differences in the duration, interaction between duration and group and differences between the groups. Third, in the WHR, there were no significant differences in the duration, interaction between duration and group and differences between the groups. Conclusion: BMI of each group according to the period was significantly different between before exercise and 6 weeks after exercise.

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of somatotypes and body-related variables such as body exposure and body satisfaction on underwear evaluative criteria. Usable questionnaires were obtained from a total of 250 male and female students in their 20s. The data were mainly analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and analysis of variance using SPSS ver. 21.0. The results of this study are as follows: First, differences between underwear and outerwear evaluative criteria were found. For example, size, comfort and washing were important for the underwear but design, brand and fashionability were meaningful for outerwear. Price, color, material, and sewing were important for both outerwear and underwear. Second, the groups divided by somatotypes, a thin person group, a moderate person group and a fat person group, showed no difference in underwear evaluative criteria. Members of all the somatotype groups evaluated underwear similarly. Third, the groups divided by body image distortion showed different evaluative criteria for underwear. The negative discordance group emphasized the importance of the practicality factor, but the positive discordance group stressed the significance of the symbolism factor. Finally, the groups divided by body exposure and body satisfaction showed different evaluative criteria for underwear, too. The effects of socio-cultural variables on the underwear evaluative criteria proved to be significant.

  • This study investigates the effects of sociocultural influences and body image on appearance enhancement behaviors (facial management, clothing selection, and weight/figure management). For data collection, a questionnaire was administrated to 562 female college students in Gwangju City, Chonnam area and Chonbuk area, Korea, from May 23 to June 10, 2011. To analyze the data, a SPSS 18.0 statistics package was used, and descriptive statistical analysis, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression analysis were conducted. The results were as follows. First, sociocultural influences were divided into three factors: parental influence, media influence, and peer influence. Overall sociocultural influences had positive effects on appearance enhancement behavior. Second, body image was divided into two factors: weight-concern and appearance-concern. Sociocultural influences had significant effects on overall body image. Third, body image appeared to have positive effects on overall appearance enhancement behavior.

  • In order to investigate the small female occupant behavior and accompanying injury mechanisms in vehicular trash event, a finite element model of $5^{th}$ percentile female has been developed. The model consists of articulated rigid body, which represents the morphology of small female body, and internal components with anatomical details. Articulated rigid body model serves as a basic platform for joining the detail internal skeletons and organs, while itself can be used for representing the overall kinematics of small female occupant. The modeling details such as anthropometry and finite element structure as well as validation results for the articulated rigid body model are introduced in this paper. The second part of the modeling, i.e. the internal components with anatomical details of small female are presented in subsequent part II of the paper.

  • The rigid body inertia properties of a structure including the mass, the center of gravity location, the mass moments and principal axes of inertia are required for structural dynamic analysis, modeling of mechanical systems, design of mechanisms and optimization. The analytical approaches such as solid or finite element modeling can not be used efficiently for estimating the rigid body inertia properties of complex structures. Several experimental approaches have been developed to determine the rigid body inertia properties of a structure via Frequency Response Functions (FRFs). In the present work two experimental methods are used to estimate the rigid body inertia properties of a frame. The first approach consists of using the amount of mass as input to estimate the other inertia properties of frame. In the second approach, the property of orthogonality of modes is used to derive the inertia properties of a frame. The accuracy of the estimated parameters is evaluated through the comparison of the experimental results with those of the theoretical Solid Work model of frame. Moreover, a thorough discussion about the effect of accuracy of measured FRFs on the estimation of inertia properties is presented.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate adolescents' body esteem and clothing behaviors according to the sociocultural attitude toward appearance. The subjects were 750 adolescents in Daejeon and Chungnam province. The research method was a survey methodology and the measuring instruments consisted of sociocultural attitude toward appearance, body esteem, clothing behaviors, and subjects' demographics attributions. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, cluster analysis, t test, $x^2$ test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, 2 dimensions(internalization and awareness) were emerged on the sociocultural attitude toward appearance, and adolescents were divided into 4 groups (unreceptive group, awareness group, internalized group, and receptive group) by the sociocultural attitude toward appearance. Second, there are some differences in adolescents' body esteem according to the sociocultural attitude toward appearance. Receptive group had the lower level on body esteem than unreceptive group. Third, there are significant differences in adolescents' clothing behaviors according to the sociocultural attitude toward appearance. Receptive group had the highest psychological dependency of clothing, clothing interest, clothing individuality, and clothing conformity among 4 groups.

  • This study compares architecture with dress, investigates the image of transparency expressed in modern dress, and reveals its modern meaning. That is the purpose for this study. The study results are as follows. First, purity was expressed with simple, white color which has not any exaggeration or decoration, and transparent veils of wedding dress express clean and pure image which represents the original meaning of wedding dress. Second, eroticism conveys being erotic by exposing human body through transmission of light over transparent materials. Eroticism expressed by wearing thin and transparent dress with body-conscious line almost like being nude or emphasizing the sexually curious area in human body. The biggest difference in this study is that eroticism is delivered in dress, but not in architecture. Third, playfulness shows synchronism which recognizes human body with transmission of light over ,linear, transparent materials or recognizes inside dress. Playfulness expressed with location switch between inside and outside, exaggeration, distortion , and emphasis. Forth , openness makes dress atmosphere soft by putting transparent materials over opaque materials, expressed separation from restriction by wearing transparent dress over a naked human body, and expressed open ad free image by expressing human emancipation and freedom. Transparent dress expressed modern human being's sensitivity desire for living with light and joyful mood departing from heavy through, and also open and free image which pursues for freedom of human boedy departing from the restriction of human body.

  • The purpose of this study is to categorize and analyze the body shape of obese Korean men that are needed for industrial design. Using the anthropometric data that were surveyed through the 5th Size Korea project, this study was conducted in four steps mostly through the multivariate statistical analysis. In the first step, Broca, BMI, WHR indices are used to define obesity and select obese men from Korean adults and teens. After 34 human anthropometric variables are supposed to be related to obesity were extracted through an expect survey. In the second step, a factor analysis was executed for those human anthropometric variables. Through this analysis, we obtained the human body factors that are related to the representation of obesity. Then the third step, we used a cluster analysis from the result of the factor analysis. And ANOVA analysis was also conducted to obtain the critical obese human anthropometric variables. In the final step, we found the characteristics of the body types of obese men according to clusters and ages. The body types of obese men classified in the study are expected to be applied to product design for clothing, furniture, automobile packaging, etc.
