Effect of Change in Water Content and NCO Index on the Static Comfort of Polyurethane Seat Foam Pad for Automobiles (물 함량과 NCO Index 변화가 자동차용 폴리우레탄 시트 폼 패드의 정적 안락감에 미치는 영향 고찰)

  • In this study, we identified how the water content change in various NCO index affects the static comfort of polyurethane seat foam pad for automobiles. In order to identify factors that affect the static comfort, a static load test was performed using UTM to plot a hysteresis curve. The hardness of the foam when it was modified by 25, 65%, hysteresis loop area, hysteresis loss (%), and Sag factor were also obtained. By measuring the swelling ratio, it was confirmed that, as the water content increased in a fixed NCO index, the hardness and crosslinking density increased while the restoring force decreased due to the increase of urea bond. Also the Sag factor decreased due to the increase of surface hardness. As the NCO index increased in a fixed water content, the urethane and urea bond reacted more with isocyanate, leading to an increase in hardness and decrease in restoring force.

  • 전 세계적으로 이산화탄소 배출량 저잠을 위해 모든 산업분야에서 연구개발의 중점을 두고 있다. 그의 일환으로 자동차 산업에서는 EU규제에 따라 리사이클이 가능한 소재 개발이 요구되고 있으며, 그중 많은 양이 사용되고 있는 PU Foam의 대체 재료 개발이 시급한 실정이다. 기존 자동차의 흡음재로 주로 사용되고 있는 PU Foam 소재는 통기성이 부족할 뿐만 아니라 연소 시 인체에 유해한 HCN Gas를 발생시키고, 한번 성형된 부품은 Recycle 및 Re-Use가 불가능하다는 단점이 있다. 또한 장시간 사용시 황변 발생과 악취가 발생하는 등으로 최근 대두되고 있는 자동차 내장재 감성품질 향상 측면에 한계를 나타내고 있다. 이러한 Low Melting 성능을 가지는 PET 부직포 소재의 한계를 극복하기 위하여 저융점 성능의 Elastic Fiber의 개발과 함께 고탄성 복합부직포 소재의 개발을 통해 높은 변형률과 우수한 복원력을 나타내는 환경친화형 열가소성 탄성체(Thermoplastic Elastomer) 개발을 추진하고 있다. 고탄성 복합부직포는 자동차 내장재 성형 시 열을 가하더라도 Elastomer 자체의 탄성 발현을 통해 초기의 Bulky성을 유지할 수 있으며, Recycle 및 Re-use가 가능하여 환경 친화적인 측면에서도 큰 장점을 갖고 있다. 자동차용 흡음 내장재뿐만 아니라 각종 수송용 차량의 경량화 및 쾌적성 향상을 위한 용도로써 자동차 내장용 PU Foam의 57% 이상을 차지하고 있는 Seat Cushion재 등의 대체가 가능하며, 다양한 산업분야에서 사용되고 있는 PU Foam의 대체로 다양한 용도 전개가 가능할 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구에서는 PU Foam의 대체 재료로 각광받고 있는 Elastic PET를 개발하여 자동차 내장재로의 적용 가능성을 검토하였다.

  • 최근 산업환경 변화에 순응하는 환경 친화적 소재를 사용하여 자동차, 선박, 철도 등 수송용 인테리어 내장재를 구성하는 기술로서, 난연성 및 기계적 물성 유지 기술, 그리고 실내 쾌적감을 부여하기 위한 감성기술 및 심미적 요소를 부여하는 디자인 기술이 가미된 복합 기능화 기술개발이 구되고 있다. 기존의 자동차용 시트 제품은 대부분 PU Foam을 시트원단에 불꽃으로 Lamination 하는 방식으로 제조되었으며, 이러한 제조 방식은 많은 공정을 거치게 되고 PU Foam을 제조하는 공정 및 불꽃으로 Lamination 하는 공정에서 많은 환경유해가스가 발생하는 등 환경적으로도 많은 문제점을 감수하면서 생산하는 방식이다. 또한 각종 원단의 표피재로 많이 사용되고 있는 PU와 PVC의 경우 제조과정에서 용제와 가소제 사용 등으로 인해 환경적으로 많은 문제점이 있으며, 이를 대체하기 위한 노력이 많은 부분에서 이루어지고 있지만, 마땅히 대체할 소재를 찾지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 실리콘수지는 기존의 PU와 PVC를 대체할 수 있는 소재로서 각광받고 있으며, 응용기술 개발을 통해 충분히 적용이 가능한 소재라고 판단된다. 본 연구에서 개발하고자 하는 기술은 난연성을 가진 실리콘 내장 표피재에 불꽃으로 Lamination하는 공정을 배제한 친환경 PUD Foam을 바로 Back Coating함으로써 일체형 고 기능 친환경 제품을 개발함으로써 친환경 복합화 기술 및 SEAT 원단과 표피재의 일체형 모듈화 공법개발을 이루고자 한다.

  • With recent developments in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the manufacturing industry has changed rapidly. Through key aspects of Fourth Industrial Revolution super-connections and super-intelligence, machine learning will be able to make fault predictions during the foam-making process. Polyol and isocyanate are components in polyurethane foam. There has been a lot of research that could affect the characteristics of the products, depending on the specific mixture ratio and temperature. Based on these characteristics, this study collects data from each factor during the foam-making process and applies them to machine learning in order to predict faults. The algorithms used in machine learning are the decision tree, kNN, and an ensemble algorithm, and these algorithms learn from 5,147 cases. Based on 1,000 pieces of data for validation, the learning results show up to 98.5% accuracy using the ensemble algorithm. Therefore, the results confirm the faults of currently produced parts by collecting real-time data from each factor during the foam-making process. Furthermore, control of each of the factors may improve the fault rate.

  • A simplified modeling approach of free vibration for occupied car seats was demonstrated to be feasible. The model consisting of interconnected masses springs and dampers was initially broken down into subsystems and experiments conducted to determine approximate values for model parameters. Which were each stiffness and damping value. Nonlinear equations of motion were derived and model parameters obtained in experiments were applied to these equations. A mathematical model of free vibration for car seat and mannequin system was built with 7 degrees of freedom. in order to calculate natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes. linear equations of motion were obtained through linearization. In order to explore the effects of each model parameter free vibration analysis were preformed.

  • Purpose: We report two cases of corneal edema in patients who presented with bilateral blurry vision due to vaporized amines while working in a polyurethane processing plant. Case summary: A 28-year-old male presented with bilateral blurred vision. His work involved solidifying polyurethane liquid and he often found himself exposed to polyurethane heat and gas. The central corneal thickness (CCT) was also increased in both eyes, measuring $698{\mu}m$ (right) and $672{\mu}m$ (left). After prescribing 0.5% moxifloxacin and, 1% fluorometholone eye drops for 3 days in both eyes, the UCVA recovered to 20/40 (right) and 20/20 (left). The CCT decreased to $644{\mu}m$ (right) and $651{\mu}m$ (left), and the microbullae improved significantly in the left eye. The second patient was a 34-year-old female who presented with bilateral decreased visual acuity while at work. She worked in a factory that produced car seat filling. Her UCVA was 20/25 (right) and 20/20 (left). The CCT by specular microscopy was $537{\mu}m$ (right) and $541{\mu}m$ (left). On slit lamp examination, both eyes demonstrated bilateral central subepithelial edema. The patient did not attend any follow-up outpatient appointments after the initial presentation. Conclusions: Exposure to vaporized amines such as polyurethane may causereversible corneal toxicityeven without direct contact.
