The purpose of this study is to analyze seasonal changes in structure and landscape of Gongji stream corridor in Chuncheon, and to suggest some guidelines to contribute to creating a desirable close-to- nature stream. The study seasonally surveyed floodplain and revetment conditions, channel micro-topography, streamflow level and velocity, and vegetational cover. Flooding, water level, and vegetation were major factors of affecting seasonal changes in streambed structure and stream landscape. Small sand bars and islands were considerably disturbed by flooding and water level change. However, large islands and sand bars in the upper and middle section of the study stream remained or reappeared even after flooding. Flooding also tended to repeat channel sedimentation at the same spot. Controlling water volume of the Euiam Lake, which is adjacent to the study stream, caused higher water level downstream in the dry seasons. The majority of vegetation in sand bars and islands was washed away by the floods. Vehicle passing, crop cultivation, and ball game were other elements which disturbed vegetation in the floodplain. Creating a close-to-nature stream should reflect micro-topographical changes of channel by flooding, prevent improper vehicle entry and human use, and remove concrete material in the revetment and floodplain.
This study was to diagnose the ontogenetic ability of drought tolerance in trees, and was to investigate the seasonal changes in tissue-water relations parameters, ${\pi}_o$, ${\pi}_p$, $E_{max}$, $N_s/DW$, $V_o/W_s$ and $RWC_{(tlp)}$, obtained from P-V curves on the Pinus koraiensis and Abies holophylla shoots. The results obtained are as follows; 1) Seasonal changes of original osmotic pressure at maximum turgot, ${\pi}_o$, were -1.2 to -1.6 MPa in Pinus koraiensis and -1.4 to -1.7 MPa in Abies holophylla. 2) Seasonal changes of osmotic pressure at incipient plasmolysis, ${\pi}_p$, were -1.8 to -2.1 MPa in Pinus koraiensis and -1.6 to -2.1 MPa in Abies holophylla. 3) Seasonal changes of relative water content at incipient plasmolysis, $RWC_{(tlp)}$, were 70 to 77% in Pinus koraiensis and 69 to 85% in Abies holophylla. 4) Seasonal changes of maximum bulk modulus of elasticity at maximum hydration, $E_{max}$, were 2.2 to 6.3 MPa in Pinus koraiensis and 3.1 to 7.9 MPa in Abies holophylla. 5) Seasonal changes of number of osmoles of solute in symplasm versus dry weight, $N_s/DW$, were 0.5 to 1.3 in Pinus koraiensis and 0.3 to 1.0 in Abies holophylla. 6) Seasonal changes of original osmotic water volume versus total water volume (symplasmic and apoplastic water), $V_o/W_s$, were 55 to 65%r in Pinus koraiensis and 40 to 65% in Abies holophylla. Consequently, as the comparative values of ${\pi}_o$, ${\pi}_p$, $E_{max}$, $N_s/DW$, $V_o/W_s$, and $RWC_{(tlp)}$, it might be suggested that Abies holophylla shoot could have more or less a greater ability of drought tolerance as compared with Pinus koraiensis shoot.
Seasonal changes of topograpy, sediment grain size and accumulation rate on the Gomso-Bay tidal flat(Fig. 1), west coast of Korea, have studied in order to understand the seasonal accumulation pattern and preservation potential of tidal-flat sediments. Seasonal levelings across the tidal flat show that the landward movement of both intertidal sand shoals and cheiers accelerates during the winter and typhoon period, but it almost stops in summer when mud deposition is instead predominant on the middle to upper tidal flat. Seasonal variations of mean grain size were largest on the upper part of middle tidal flat where summer mud layers were eroded during the winter and typhoon periods(Fig. 2). Measurements of accululation depths from sea floor to basal plate reveal that accumulation rates were seasonally controlled according to the elevation of tidal-flat surface(Table 1) : the upper flat, where the accumulation rate of summer was generally higher than that of winter, was characterized by a continuous deposition throughout the entire year, whereas on the middle flat, sediment accumulations were concentrated in winter realtive to summer, and were intermittently eroded by typhoons. The lower tidal flat were deposited mostly in winter and eroded during summer typhoons. Cancores taken across the tidal flat reveal that sand-mud interlaers resulting from such seasonal changes of energy regime are preserved only in the upper part of the deposits and generally replaced by storm layers downcore(Fig. 3). Based on above results, it is suggested that the storm deposits formed by winter stors and typhoons would consist of the major part of the Gomso-Bay deposits(Fig. 4).
Objectives: The condition of the skin is greatly influenced by seasonal changes. We wanted to know the seasonal change of skin condition and to find out the difference in the efficacy of Seoshiokyongsan (SSOOS) CP soap in spring and autumn. We are to help people who use soap to make a wise choice in choosing a cleanser according to the season. Methods: To investigate the seasonal skin condition, this experiment was conducted to examine the skin condition of spring and autumn in 20 students at A university. To compare the seasonal efficacy of Seosiokyongsan (SSOOS) CP soap, we had skin test 10 students in spring and autumn. We made herbal fermented soaps using SSOOS and distributed them to experiment participants. We let them wash their face in the morning and evening for 6 weeks using herbal fermented soap. Prior to the experiment, their skin condition was checked and assessed using A-ONE Smart One-Click Automatic Facial Diagnosis System three times at 3-week intervals. After the experiment, the changes of skin were measured and analyzed through facial analysis test. Results: In spring and autumn, the oil of T zone and U zone was significantly less and the water content was significantly higher in autumn than in spring. In the case of using the SSOOS CP soap, water content increased and oil content decreased in spring, oil content and elasticity increased in autumn. Conclusion: There is a difference in the skin condition according to the season and SSOOS CP soap showed difference in efficacy in spring and autumn. So we should pay attention to seasonal soap selection.

In this paper, we have studied the seasonal vanatIons of near-field dilutions of wastewater discharged from the submerged mutiport-diffuser in Masan Bay. Seasonal changes of temperature and salinity, and tidal currents were measured at 16 stations in Masan Bay. Based on the observed ambient field data, the seasonal changes of near-field dilutions due to ambient current and density fields were calculated by CORMIX model. Because of the shallow ambient water depth of 15 m, the density profiles are isopycnal in autumn and winter seasons, in which the dilution factors were the highest, 168 with the strong spring-tidal current and 110-120 with the weak neap-tidal current. As the season changes from spring to summer, the dilution factors are considerably reduced by the factor of 2 as the thermocline is getting deepened up to Sm in depth in summer. In the case of a weak ambient current, the dilution factor in summer was reduced to 1/4 of the dilution in winter. However, with strong ambient current the difference between summer and winter dilutions becomes relatively small by 30%. The results indicate that the seasonal variation of near-field dilution is very large up to 4 times with a weak neap-tidal current, but its variations become small under a strong ambient current of spring tide in MasanBay.

The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of reconstructing unit 'Seasonal Change' using step-by-step questioning for concepts changes to adjusting misconceptions of elementary school students. Most students have pre-conceptions at describing seasonal changes based on their experiences. Therefore, in newly developed unit, we reconstructed unit to include core teaching and learning contents by finding out common pre-conceptions of students and specifying purpose of teaching at misconceptions found in pre-conceptions as 'constituent of class for conceptual change'. After the scientific concept test, the result of 24 students in experimental group is statistically significant. Also, according to the result of qualitative analysis, the number of activated conceptional resources and degree of specificity in explaining seasonal changes are higher than that of control group.
In an attempt to demonstrate the seasonal variation of the Ulleung Warm Eddy (UWE), in which the UWE changes its shape from a warm core ring in early spring to a warm lens in late summer under the effect of surrounding East Korean Warm Current (EKWC) Water, a simple geostrophic adjustment model is considered. Model results indicate that the buoyancy increase of the EKWC Water and the strengthening of the EKWC towards summer, both of which are typical of this region, are the major factors governing the seasonal variation of the UWE.

This study analyzed the difficulty level of class on the seasonal change unit for 84 students at a university of education. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, if we first present the four topics that make up the seasonal changes in elementary science, the subjects that have the greatest difficulty in teaching for prospective elementary school teachers are 'Why do seasonal changes occur?' (Teaching difficulty level 4.05), 'The sun changes depending on the season' What is the difference between the southern altitude and the length of day and night?' (difficulty level of class, 3.12), 'What is the relationship between the altitude of the sun, length of shadow, and temperature during the day?' (difficulty level of class, 2.85), 'How does the temperature change depending on the season?' (class difficulty level 2.80). As a result, in the elementary science season change unit, the class on the four topics 'Why do seasons change?', which is classified as a class topic that requires the concept of spatial perception, showed a higher level of class difficulty than other units. Second, in the seasonal change unit, various factors of class difficulty appeared depending on the class topic. When pre-service elementary school teachers look at the factors that make class difficult when teaching a lesson on seasonal changes in order of frequency, 42 (50%) said 'Experimental instruction for comparing the altitude of solar masculine according to the tilt of the axis of rotation', followed by 'Solar masculine'. 38 people (45%) answered 'Difficulty in explaining mid-high altitude and the length of day and night', 27 people (32%) answered 'Difficulty in explaining the concept of mid-high altitude', and 24 people (32%) answered 'Difficulty in explaining seasonal changes in the sun's position.' 29%), 20 people (24%) said 'Explain the reasonable reason why the height of the light should be adjusted when measuring the solar altitude', and 16 people (19%) said 'It is difficult to explain the reason for the discrepancy between the solar altitude and the maximum temperature'. ), 'difficulties in measuring sand (ground) temperature' were mentioned by 12 people (14%). Third, when analyzing the factors of class difficulty, there were more curriculum factors than teacher factors. In this context, the exploratory activities on 'Why do seasonal changes occur?', the fourth topic of the seasonal change unit in which elementary school pre-service teachers showed the greatest difficulty in teaching, need improvement in terms of the curriculum.

Plasma melatonin in the seasonal light-period is circadian rhythmically secreted. Maximal secretion showed at 14 o'clock in summer- and winter-like period, but minimal secretion showed at 5 o'clock in summer-like period and at 8 in winter-like period. These times of minimal secretions were at the beginning of light period. Plasma melatonin in the light period is secreted 62.5% more than in the dark period in summer-like period and 45.9% more in winter-like period. Total plasma melatonin in winter-like period is secreted 56.5% more than in summer-like period. The weights of testis(-20.8%) and body(-7.1%) were reduced in the winter-like period. By the increase of plasma melatonin in mice, body- and testis-weights are decreased, on the contrary by the decrease of plasma melatonin in mice, body and testis weights are increased. In view of the results so far achieved melatonin changes on the body weight and reproductive organ in mice. It is presumed that melatonin effects on the metabolism and sex hormone.
