Ciliate abundance and biomass were determined at three anchored stations in the Han River estuary trimonthly from May 2006 to February 2008. The total abundance of ciliates ranged from 0-13,853 cells $l^{-1}$ and biomass ranged from $0.00-73.98\;ugC\;l^{-1}$. Owing to the large seasonal temperature variation (range 0.20-$27.2^{\circ}C$), ciliate abundance displayed marked seasonal variation, being higher in summer than in other seasons. Tintinnids dominated the ciliate communities at station YC where suspended sediment was highest. Difference of ciliate biomass between ebb tide and flood tide were irregular. Seasonal variations of ciliate carbon biomass at each station were related to temperature, suspended sediment and chl.a, especially nano chl.a. Geographical variations of ciliate carbon biomass in each season were related to suspended sediment and salinity.
MERRA-2 ozone and atmospheric data are utilized to test the usefulness of reanalysis-based tracer transport analysis for ozone in the tropical tropopause layer (TTL). Transport and mixing processes related to the seasonal variation of TTL ozone are examined using the tracer transport equation based on the transformed Eulerian mean, and the results are compared to previously proposed values from model analyses. The analysis shows that the seasonal variability of TTL ozone is mainly determined by two processes: vertical mean transport and horizontal eddy mixing of ozone, with different contributions in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The horizontal eddy mixing process explains the major portion of the seasonal cycle in the northern TTL, while the vertical mean transport dominates in the southern TTL. The Asian summer monsoon likely contributes to this observed difference. The ozone variability and related processes in MERRA-2 reanalysis show qualitatively similar features with satellite- and model-based analyses, and it provides advantages of fine-scale analyses. However, it still shows significant quantitative biases in ozone budget analysis.
Seasonal variation of phytoplankton was investigated with surface mixed layer ecosystem model in the East Sea. The model consisted of four compartments (phytoplankton, zooplankton, nutrient, detritus) forced by mixed layer depths, photosynthetically available radiation and nutrient concentrations. From model results we estimated entrainment rate $2.5-4.0\;m{\cdot}day^{-1}$ to reproduce the two annual blooms, and reproduced seasonal variation of phytoplankton at southern and northern regions by the difference of surface winter mixed layer depth (MLD) using the entrainment rate value $3.0\;m{\cdot}day^{-1}$. The spring blooms in the southern and northern regions closely related to deepening of a winter surface MLD. In the southern region where MLD was shallow and phytoplankton spring bloom occurs one month in advance to the northern region where MLD was deep. The amount of light increases within the MLD during the onset of stratification and water temperature increases faster in spring in the southern region than the northern region. Decrease of phytoplankton was mainly affected by zooplankton grazing in the southern region and by nutrient exhaustion in the northern region. The fall bloom in the two regions was caused by the nutrient availability and entrainment on the phytoplankton.
Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, A. ginnala, A. negundo and A. saccharinum were selected as materials for the studies on the seasonal fluctuation of chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rates. In all the four species during the growing season except in October, the principal component that determined the total chlorophyll content was chlorophyll a. Content of chlorophyll b increased with leaf age, but that of chlorophyll a decreased. In contrast to A. saccharinum and A. pseudo-sieboldianum which showed their maximum chlorophyll content in June, A. negundo, which showed the highest chlorophyll content of the four species, exhibited its maximum chlorophyll content in July, whereas September in the case of A. ginnala. The fluctuation of chlorophyll content was similar to that of air temperature, and it increased till July. But chloprophyll content showed a significant relationship in early stage of leaf development, and there could be any interdependence between them in accordance with the seasonal change, no longer. In all four species light compensation points decreased in accordance with the seasonal change, and the maximum photosynthetic rates were obtained in August. Respiratory rates were shown no significant difference among species, and they decreased according to the adbance of season.
This experiment was carried out to examine the seasonal changes in feed intake and feeding behavior in Korean spotted deer under farmed condition to obtain basic information for efficient feeding management. The seasonal daily gain was the highest (p<0.05) in summer and the lowest (p<0.05) in winter. Dry matter intake (DMI) was the highest (p<0.05) in spring (2,685 g/day) and the lowest in winter (1,929 g/day). Intake of roughage in the DMI was the greatest in spring and that in winter was significantly lower (p<0.05) than in spring. Also DMI, expressed in terms of metabolic body weight ($kgW^{0.75}$), was 85.5 g, 70.6 g, 70.9 g and 65.1 g for spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively, and thus was the highest in spring and the lowest in winter (p<0.05). Deer exhibited similar eating patterns, comparatively short and frequent periods, in all seasons. They showed comparatively intensive patterns of rumination during midnight for autumn and winter and relatively continuous patterns of chewing activity during spring and summer. There were no significant differences in seasonal eating time and ruminating time. However, exercise time was the greatest for winter and the lowest for summer and there was a significant difference (p<0.05) between summer and winter. Although not significant, eating time per 100 gDM ingested tended to be short in spring and summer and long in autumn and winter. Ruminating time per 100 gDM ingested was the shortest (p<0.05) in spring compared with in other seasons. The conclusion can be drawn that since deer have seasonal differences in feed intake and feeding habits, it is necessary to establish and develop an efficient feeding system for deer.
The investigation of ecological characteristics of Lycoris radiata was carried out in flooding (site I), half flooding (site II) and dry stands (site III). Seasonal change of air temperature showed similar patterns and that of light intensity showed quite difference among three L. radiata stands. Seasonal change of soil water content showed a great difference among three L. radiata stands. The study area was dominated by Pinus densiflora, P. thunbergii and L. radiata communities. The number of bulb in 1. radiata increased in September with bulb formation and decreased in January. Bulb weight in L. radiata was different from each site. The numbers of blossom were 23, 13 and 9, respectively in site I, II and III. The length of wreath were 17.0, 13.0 and 11.0cm, respectively, the length of stamen were 7.0, 6.4 and 6.5 cm, respectively and the length of stalk were 60.0, 45.0 and 42.0 cm, respectively in site I, II and III. The leaf of L. radiata developed rapidly in site I with sufficient water supply and lower light intensity, the number and the length of rootlets increased considerably in site III with insufficient water supply and higher light intensity, and the ecological characteristics in site II was intermediate between site I and site III. There was no great difference between the numbers of rootlets in site I and site II, which were due to sufficient water supply in two stands.

The purpose of this study was to study to the effect of presenting SBF questions on the level of conceptual achievement and eye movement of elementary students in seasonal constellation learning that requires systems thinking. In this study, the effectiveness of SBF questions was divided into experimental groups and comparison groups, and scientific texts with different question types were presented to analyze the level of conceptual achievement and differences in eye movement of sixth-grade elementary students. Data analysis quantitatively analyzed the pre- and post-test results of the developed concept test paper and the eye movement data when learning scientific texts related to seasonal constellations. As a result of the study, first, the SBF question was a valid learning strategy for learning seasonal constellations. The SBF question showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) in the pre- and post-test between groups, and a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) in the pre- and post-test within the group. Second, SBF questions had a positive effect on students' learning by inducing learners with low preconceptions to area of interest that help them achieve concepts. In other words, when presenting SBF questions with visual data from a space-based perspective, it was confirmed based on the results of eye movement analysis that there was a significant difference in total fixation count (p<0.01) of learners. On the other hand, for learners with high scientific preconceptions, the effect of exploration was not significant because the preconceptions of the learners themselves acted as a hard core rather than the effect of SBF questions. This study is different from existing seasonal constellation learning studies in that it provides quantitative data through pre- and post-test and eye movement analysis in the seasonal constellation learning process, and can help elementary students learn seasonal constellations.

In this study, a congestion assessment was conducted to verify seasonal differences in congestion for major coastal traffic routes and fairways in major ports with GICOMS Data for 7 days without issuing a special weather report. As a result, a maximum of 11 % and 82 % are shown, with an average of 3.5 % and a 30 % seasonal difference for hourly average congestion and peak time congestion. Therefore, seasonal differences for the target area should be taken into consideration to perform further congestion assessments, particularly for maritime traffic safety assessments, and keen attention should be given to setting up safety measures against congestion.

In this paper, we have studied the seasonal vanatIons of near-field dilutions of wastewater discharged from the submerged mutiport-diffuser in Masan Bay. Seasonal changes of temperature and salinity, and tidal currents were measured at 16 stations in Masan Bay. Based on the observed ambient field data, the seasonal changes of near-field dilutions due to ambient current and density fields were calculated by CORMIX model. Because of the shallow ambient water depth of 15 m, the density profiles are isopycnal in autumn and winter seasons, in which the dilution factors were the highest, 168 with the strong spring-tidal current and 110-120 with the weak neap-tidal current. As the season changes from spring to summer, the dilution factors are considerably reduced by the factor of 2 as the thermocline is getting deepened up to Sm in depth in summer. In the case of a weak ambient current, the dilution factor in summer was reduced to 1/4 of the dilution in winter. However, with strong ambient current the difference between summer and winter dilutions becomes relatively small by 30%. The results indicate that the seasonal variation of near-field dilution is very large up to 4 times with a weak neap-tidal current, but its variations become small under a strong ambient current of spring tide in MasanBay.
This study was aimed at knowing the magnitude of year variation in rice heading dates under the different seasonal cultures, and to estimate the heading date in advance. Using six rice varieties such as Kwansan, Suwon#82, Suwon #144, Norin#17, Yukoo#132 and Paltal, the early, ordinary and late seasonal cultures had been carried out at Paddy Crop Division, Crop Experiment Station at Suwon for the six-year period 1959 to 1964. In addition the data of the standard rice cultures at the Provincial Offices of Rural Development for the 12-year period 1953 to 1954, were analyzed for the purpose of clarifying a relationship between variation of rice heading dates and some of meteorological data related to the locations and years. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Year variation of rice heading dates was as high as 14 to 21 days in the early seasonal culture and 7 to 14 days in the ordinary seasonal culture, while as low as one to seven days in the late seasonal culture which was the lowest among three cultures. The magnitude of variation depended greatly on variety, cultural season and location. 2. It was found out that there was a close negative correlation between the accumulated average air temperature for 40 days from 31 days after seeding and number of days to heading in the early seasonal culture. Accordingly, it was considered possible to predict the rice heading date through calculation of the accumulated average air temperature for the above period and then the linear regression(Y=a+bx). On the other hand, an estimation of the heading date in the late seasonal culture requires for the further studies. In the ordinary seasonal culture, no significant correlation between the accumulated average air temperature and number of days to heading was obtained in the six-year experiments conducted at Suwon. There was a varietal difference in relationship between the accumulated average air temperature for 70 days from seeding and number of days to heading in the standard cultures at the provincial offices of rural development. Some of varieties showed a significant correlation between two factors while the others didn't show any significant correlation. However, there was no regional difference in this relationship.
