The purpose of this study was to develop a framework for predicting searching performance through an understanding of how cognitive ability relates to searching process and outcome. Specifically, this study examined the relationship between spatial visualization, logical reasoning, integrative reasoning, and information searching process and outcome. Information searching process was assessed by seven search process indicators: (1) search command selection: (2) combination of search commands; (3) application of Boolean logic: (4) application of truncation; (5) use of limit search function; (6) number of search statements; and (7) number of search errors made. Searching outcome was assessed by the number of correct answers to search questions. Subjects first took three standardized cognitive tests that measured cognitive abilities, and performed online catalog searching in response to seven information search questions. The searches were logged using Lotus ScreenCam, and reviewed for the analysis. Factor analysis was used to find underlying structures of the seven search process variables. Multiple regression analysis was applied to examine the predictive power of three cognitive variables on three extracted factors, and search outcome. Results of the data analysis showed that individual differences in logical reasoning could predict information searching process and outcome.

Due to sudden transition to intellectual society corresponding with fast technology progress, companies and nations need to focus on development and guarantee of intellectual property. The possession of intellectual property has been the important factor of competition power. In this paper we developed the efficient patent search process with big data analysis tool R. This patent search process consists of 5 steps. We result that at first this process obtain the core patent search key words and search the target patents through search formula using the combination of above patent search key words.

Job search research has been criticized for failing to study the dynamics and change of the job search process. A lot of previous researches have used cross-sectional designs and treated job search as a static process. As a result, job search research has failed to examine how job seekers' behaviors change during the course of their search. This paper examined changes In job search behaviors(preparatory and active job search behavior, and job search intensity) and the effects of individual difference variables(self-esteem, self-efficacy, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness) on job search behaviors. Data were gathered from 404 university students who had not found employment at the time of beginning of second semester The results of t-test pairs indicated that job seeking students increased their preparatory job search behavior and active job search behavior, but didn't job search intensity. The results of multiple regression showed that self-efficacy had strong relationship with preparatory and active job search behavior, and job search intensity, but self-esteem had not any relationship with them. Among big-5 personality, extroversion had relationship with active job search behavior and job search intensity, and agreeableness only with job search intensity.

This study reports on early adolescents' health information seeking behaviors that investigated cognitive, affective, and physical aspects of behaviors as they experienced to find information on their needs of health information seeking. In spite of the current widespread internet health information use by adolescents, little research exists to illuminate how they are engaged in cognitive, affective, and physical information behaviors in information search process. Qualitative data were collected through individual interviews informed by Kuhlthau's information search process. Forty adolescents from S city in South Korea participated in the project. Findings report thoughts, feelings, and actions aspects of information search process. This study expects to extend our knowledge of the adolescents' health information seeking behaviors of Kuhlthau's information search process.

The fiber optic communication technology is considered as a key solution for the future communication. However the assembly of the fiber optic components highly depends on manual or semi-automated alignment process. And the light search algorithm is recognized an important factor to reduce the manufacturing process time. Therefore this paper investigates optimal search algorithm for the automatic alignment of fiber optic components. The experiments show the effectiveness of Hill Climbing Search, Adaptive Hill Climbing Search and Steepest Search algorithms, in a view of process time.

For motion estimation, the block matching algorithm is widely used to improve the compression ratio of low bit-rate motion video. As a newly developed fast search algorithm, the nearest-neighbors search technique has a drawback of degrading video quality while providing fisher speed in search process. In this paper, a modified nearest-neighbors search algorithm is proposed in which a double rectangular shaped search-candidate area is used to improve video quality in encoding process with a small increasing of search time. To evaluate the proposed algorithm. other methods based on the nearest-neighbors search algorithm are investigated.

This study identified the purchase decision-making process of outdoor wear consumers and examined the hypothesis that consumer satisfaction mediates the relationship between purchase decision-making process and repurchase intention. Data were acquired from a survey and analyzed with descriptive, factor analysis, reliability analysis and multiple regression analysis. Respondents were 454 adults who have purchased outdoor wear. The results are as follows. First, the purchase decision-making processes of outdoor wear consumers consisted of a series of steps: need recognition & passive information search, active information search, evaluation of alternatives with practical attributes, evaluation of alternatives with unpractical attributes, purchase decision, and post-purchase evaluation. Second, four purchase decision-making processes (except for need recognition & passive information search and active information search) had significantly positive effects on consumer satisfaction. Third, the need recognition & passive information search, the evaluation of alternatives with unpractical attributes and post-purchase evaluation had significantly positive effects on repurchase intention. Lastly, the partial mediation of consumer satisfaction in the relationship between two purchase decision-making processes (evaluation of alternatives with unpractical attributes and post-purchase evaluation) and repurchase intention were indicated. This academic study will help to understand the purchase decision-making processes of outdoor wear and allow companies to obtain information (from the industrial aspect) about which process to invest in and how to manage the process.

The golden section search method is widely used to optimize a single design variable in many fields due to its superior advantages of search. In this paper, a new direct search method is proposed by modifying the search structure of the golden section search method; thus, it can be adapted in the optimization of a single design variable for the injection molding process. This proposed method is applied to determine an optimal gate position for the injection molding of a bezel of an automated teller machine for minimizing the injection pressure. Thus, an optimal gate position where the injection pressure is decreased by 4.5 MPa to that of the initial position was obtained with a small number of simulations. It is anticipated that the current proposed search method can be utilized as a practical tool for optimizing single variables for injection molding design.

Geospatial information, which is one of social overhead capital, is predicted as a core growing industry for the future. The production of geospatial information requires a huge budget, so it is very important objective of the policy for geospatial information to prevent the duplication of geospatial projects. In this paper, we proposed a semantic search system which extracts possible duplication of geospatial projects by using ontology for geospatial project administration. In order to achieve our goal, we suggested how to construct and utilize geospatial project ontology, and designed the architecture and process of the semantic search. Moreover, we showed how the suggested semantic search works with a duplicated projects search scenario. The suggested system enables a nonprofessional can easily search for duplicated projects, therefore we expect that our research contributes to effective and efficient duplication review process for geospatial projects.

본 연구는 두 집단간에 복잡한 정보검색임무를 수행하는 동안 이용자의 정신상태의 차이점을 살펴보고자 하였다. 실험과 질문지를 통해서 데이터를 수집하고 분석하였고, 그 결과 정신적요구를 받은 참여자들이 안받은 참여자들보다 검색 중 생각을 더 많이 한 것으로 보이고, 부정적인 감정표현을 더 자주 한 것으로 보이고, 노력을 덜 한 것으로 보이며, 검색수행능력이 훼방을 받은 것으로 드러났다. NASA-TLX의 검사결과는 정신적요구, 수행능력, 좌절감에서 주요한 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 인터페이스 디자인이나 정보검색 시스템등의 개발에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.
