The relevance feedback process uses information obtained from a user about an initially retrieved set of documents to improve subsequent search formulations and retrieval performance. In the extended Boolean model, the relevance feedback Implies not only that new query terms must be identified, but also that the terms must be connected with the Boolean AND/OR operators properly Salton et al. proposed a relevance feedback method for the extended Boolean model, called the DNF (disjunctive normal form) method. However, this method has a critical problem in generating a reformulated queries. In this study, we investigate the problem of the DNF method and propose a relevance feedback method using hierarchical clustering techniques to solve the problem. We show the results of experiments which are performed on two data sets: the DOE collection in TREC 1 and the Web TREC 10 collection.
A simple approach to semantic document-retrieval is to measure document similarity based on the bag-of-words representation, e.g., cosine similarity between two document vectors. However, such a syntactic method hardly considers the semantic similarity between documents, often producing semantically-unsound search results. We circumvent such a problem by combining supervised machine learning techniques with ontology information based on Markov logic. Specifically, Markov logic networks are learned from similarity-tagged documents with an ontology representing the diverse relationship among words. The learned Markov logic networks, the ontology, and the training documents are applied to the semantic document-retrieval task by inferring similarities between a query document and the training documents. Through experimental evaluation on real world question-answering data, the proposed method has been shown to outperform the simple cosine similarity-based approach in terms of retrieval accuracy.
In this paper, we present am image retrieval method based on color-spatial features using quadtree and texture information extracted from object MBRs in an image. Tile proposed method consists of creating a DC image from an original image, changing a color coordinate system, and decomposing regions using quadtree. As such, conditions are present to decompose the DC image, then the system extracts representative colors from each region. And, image segmentation is used to search for object MBRs, including object themselves, object included in the background, or certain background region, then the wavelet coefficients are calculated to provide texture information. Experiments were conducted using the proposed similarity method based on color-spatial and texture features. Our method was able to refute the amount of feature vector storage by about 53%, but was similar to the original image as regards precision and recall. Furthermore, to make up for the deficiency in using only color-spatial features, texture information was added and the results showed images that included objects from the query images.
In this paper, a new method of feature extraction of major objects to represent an image using Vector Quantization(VQ) is proposed. The principal features of the image, which are used in a content-based image retrieval system, are color, texture, shape and spatial positions of objects. The representative color and texture features are extracted from the given image using VQ(Vector Quantization) clustering algorithm with a general feature extraction method of color and texture. Since these are used for content-based image retrieval and searched by objects, it is possible to search and retrieve some desirable images regardless of the position, rotation and size of objects. The experimental results show that the representative feature extraction time is much reduced by using VQ, and the highest retrieval rate is given as the weighted values of color and texture are set to 0.5 and 0.5, respectively, and the proposed method provides up to 90% precision and recall rate for 'person'query images.
Vast amount of XML documents raise interests in how they will be used and how far their usage can be expanded, This paper has two central goals: 1) easy and fast retrieval of XML documents or relevant elements; and 2) efficient and stable management of large-size XML documents, The keys to develop such a practical system are how to segment a large XML document to smaller fragments and how to store them. In order to achieve these goals, we designed SCOF(Service-centric Object Fragmentation) model, which is a semi-decomposition method based on conversion rules provided by XML database managers. Keyword-based search using SCOF model then retrieves the specific elements or attributes of XML documents, just as typical XML query language does. Even though this approach needs the wisdom of managers in XML document collection, SCOF model makes it efficient both retrieval and management of massive XML documents.
For Ubiquitous service, there are some method researched. To IT convergence study tourism the convergence of IT and tourism in recent years has emerged as a discipline in the future. Tourist information is information about tourism products as tourists tourism decision-making needed to say. Information presented information anytime, anywhere, using a contact-type media, mobile and efficient tourist information content and generate content using Smart App store to the database is needed. This paper, by taking advantage of the Smart App Places to generate content and Smart Things to query, modify, search, tourism information, tourism policy and tourists can be analyzed, and the average inclination and these efficient tourism information content and that can be utilizedmodels are proposed. This u-Smart is a tourist information system. Build the biggest advantages of the meta-meta-model in real time by utilizing Smart App disposition of existing tourism information and tourist and tourism rating database. Helps to generate patterned by digital tourism policy tourism information content.
With mobile devices showing marked improvement in performance in the age of the Internet of Things (IoT), there is demand for rapid processing of the extensive amount of multimedia big data. However, because research on image searching is focused mainly on increasing accuracy despite environmental changes, the development of fast processing of high-resolution multimedia data queries is slow and inefficient. Hence, we suggest a new distributed image search algorithm that ensures both high accuracy and rapid response by using feature extraction of distributed images based on MapReduce, and solves the problem of memory scalability based on BIRCH indexing. In addition, we conducted an experiment on the accuracy, processing time, and scalability of this algorithm to confirm its excellent performance.

ISO 15926 is an international standard for integration of lifecycle data for process plants including oil and gas facilities. From the viewpoint of information modeling, ISO 15926 Parts 2 provides the general data model that is designed to be used in conjunction with reference data. Reference data are standard instances that represent classes, objects, properties, and templates common to a number of users, process plants, or both. ISO 15926 Parts 4 and 7 provide the initial set of classes, objects, properties and the initial set of templates, respectively. User-defined reference data specific to companies or organizations are defined by inheriting from the initial reference data and the initial set of templates. In order to support the extension of reference data and templates, an editor that provides creation, deletion and modification functions of user-defined reference data is needed. In this study, an editor for reference data based on ISO 15926 was developed. Sample reference data were encoded in OWL (web ontology language) according to the specification of ISO 15926 Part 8. iRINGTools and dot15926Editor were benchmarked for the design of GUI (graphical user interface). Reference data search, creation, modification, and deletion functions were implemented with XML (extensible markup language) DOM (document object model), and SPARQL (SPARQL protocol and RDF query language).
The participation and share between personal users are the driving force of Web 2.0, and easily found in blog, social network, collective intelligence, social bookmarking and tagging. Among those applications, the social bookmarking lets Internet users to store bookmarks online and share them, and provides various services based on shared bookmarks which people think important.Delicious.com is the representative site of social bookmarking services, and provides a bookmark search service by using tags which users attach to the bookmarks. Our paper suggests a method re-ranking the ranks from Delicious.com based on user tags in order to provide personalized bookmark recommendations. Moreover, a method to consider bookmarks which have tags not directly related to the user query keywords is suggested by using tag network based on Jaccard similarity coefficient. The performance of suggested system is verified with experiments that compare the ranks by Delicious.com with new ranks of our system.
In this paper, we propose a new spatio-temporal representation scheme which can model moving objets trajectories effectively in video data and a new signature-based access method for moving objects trajectories which can support efficient retrieval on user query based on moving objects trajectories. The proposed spatio-temporal representation scheme supports content-based retrieval based on moving objects trajectories and concept-based retrieval based on concepts(semantics) which are acquired through the location information of moving objects trajectories. Also, compared with the sequential search, our signature-based access method can improve retrieval performance by reducing a large number of disk accesses because it access disk using only retrieved candidate signatures after it first scans all signatures and performs filtering before accessing the data file. Finally, we show the experimental results that proposed scheme is superior to the Li and Shan's scheme in terns of both retrieval effectiveness and efficiency.
