The electrum-silver-sulfide mineralization of the Geojae island area was deposited in three stages (I, II, and carbonate) of quartz and calcite veins that crosscut Late Cretaceous volcanic rocks and granodiorite(83 m.y.). Stages I and II were terminated by the onset of fractunng and breCCIation events. Fluid inclusion data suggest that the gold-sulfide-bearing stages I and II each evolved from an initial high temperature( near $370^{\circ}C$) to a later low temperature(near $200^{\circ}C$). Each of those stages represented a separate mineralizing system which cooled prior to the onset of the next stage. The relationship between homogenization temperature and salinity in stages I and II suggests a complex history of boiling, cooling and dilution. Evidence of boiling indicates a pressure of < 100 bars, corresponding to a depth of 500 to 1,250m assummg hthostatlc and hydrostatic pressure regimes, respectively. Fluid inclusion and mineralogical evidence suggest that the electrum-silver mineralization was deposited at a temperature of $220-260^{\circ}C$ from ore fluids with salinities between 1.9 and 8.1 equivalent wt.% NaCl. Total sulfur concentration is estimated to be $10^{-3}$ to $10^{-4}$ molal. The estimated $fs_2$ and $fo_2$ range from $10^{-11.8}$ to $10^{-14}$ atm and $10^{-35}$ to $10^{-36}$ atm, respectively. The chemical conditions indicate that the dominant sulfur species in the ore forming fluids was a reduced form($H_2S$). Rapid cooling and dilution of ore-forming fluids by mixing with less-evolved meteoric waters led to gold-silver deposition through the breakdown of the bisulfide complex($Au(HS)_2$) as the activity of $H_2S$ decreased.
Purpose : To evaluate the prevalence of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) according to the timing of voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) in infantile urinary tract infection (UTI). Methods : The data of 134 infants (1-12 months) with renal cortical defect in $^{99m}Tc$-2, 3-dimercaptosuccinic acid ($^{99m}Tc$-DMSA) scan with a diagnosis of UTI in two hospitals from 2000 to 2010 were retrospectively analyzed. The VCUG was performed after 2 weeks from the diagnosis of UTI in Group I (n=68), and the VCUG was performed within 2 weeks from the diagnosis of UTI in Group II (n=66). Results : There were no significant differences between the two groups in the duration of fever, white blood cell count, C-reactive protein levels, and abnormalities in ultrasonography (P>0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the prevelence of VUR, bilateral VUR, and severe VUR. VCUG-induced UTI was detected 16 (23.5%) of patients in whom the procedure was performed 2 weeks after the diagnosis, and none of VCUG-induced UTI occurred in those in whom the procedure was performed 2 weeks within the diagnosis. Conclusion : We conclude that the prevalence of VUR according to the timing of VCUG did not differ between the two groups in infantile UTI with renal cortical defect in DMSA scan. We also found that performing VCUG with antibiotics can decrease risk of VCUG-induced UTI.

I-cell disease (mucolipidosis type II; MIM 252500) and pseudo-Hurler polydystrophy (mucolipidosis type III; MIM 252600) are disorders caused by abnormal lysosomal transport in cells. The presence of numerous inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm of fibroblasts, a lack of mucopolysacchariduria, increased lysosomal enzyme activity in serum, and decreased GlcNAc-phosphotransferase activity are hallmark. Here, we attempted to investigate phenotypical and biochemical characteristics of the knockoutmouse of GlcNAc-phosphotransferase ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ subunits; in addition, we also attempted to determine whether the lysosome enriched fraction derived from placenta can be beneficial to phenotype and biochemistry of the knockout mouse. We found that the knockout mouse failed to thrive and had low bone density, as is the case in human. In addition, skin fibroblasts from the animal had the same biochemical characteristics, including increased lysosomal enzyme activity in the culture media, in contrast to the relatively low enzyme activity within the cells. Intravenous injection of the lysosome rich fraction derived from placenta into the tail vein of the animal resulted in a gain of weight, while saline injected animals didn't.In conclusion, our study demonstrated the phenotypical and biochemical similarities of the knockout mouse to a mucolipidosis type II patient and showed the therapeutic potential of the lysosome enriched fraction. We admit that a larger scale animal study will be needed; however, the disease model and the therapeutic potential of the lysosome enriched fraction will highlight the hope for a novel treatment approach to mucopolipidosis type II, for which no therapeutic modality is available.

Despite the widespread use of chloral hydrate with hydroxyzine in the sedation of children, there is little agreement among pediatric dentists regarding its therapeutic dosage for the management of very uncooperative young children. Also, increasing concern has been raised with respect to its frequent failure to provide adequate levels of sedation when used according to the manufacturer's recommended dosage. Therefore, there has been many suggestions with respect to sedative effectiveness and safety of varying drug dosage, and some pediatric dental articles have advocated dosages exceeding manufacturer's recommendations. This study was performed to compare the effectiveness and safety in behavior management of the manufacturer's recommended dose of chloral hydrate(50mg/kg) with those of a higher dose(70mg/kg) used together with hydroxyzine(2mg/kg) and nitrous oxide(50%) when young children were sedated for dental treatment. The following results were obtained; 1. II group(70mg/kg) displayed higher mean score compared to I group(50mg/kg) with regard to the degree of sleep, crying, movement and overall behavior. The difference was statistically significant(p<0.05). 2. In comparison of success rates for sedation between the two groups, I group and II group showed 38.7% and 71.0% success rates respectively. An analysis of variance was statistically significant(p<0.05). 3. Comparing the occurrence rate hypoxia between the two groups, there were 22.6% and 19.4% occurrence of hypoxia in I group and II group. An analysis of variance was not statistically significant(p>0.05).
Purpose: Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDIs) are emerging as potentially useful components of anticancer therapy and their radiosensitizing effects have become evident. Specific HDAS are now available that preferentially inhibit specific HDAC classes; TSA inhibits Class I and II HDACs, and SK7041 inhibits Class I HDACs. Materials and methods: We tested the differential radiosensitization induced by two different classes of HDIs in HeLa cells. We next tested the hypothesis that p53 expression in cancer cells may influence the susceptibility to HDIs by using pharmacologic modification of the p53 status under an isogenic background. Results: It is interesting that p53 expression in the HeLa cells clearly increased the degree of radio-sensitization by TSA compared to that of the class I specific inhibitor SK7041. This suggests that p53 may, in part, be responsible for the mechanistic role for the greater radiosensitization induced by Class I & II inhibitors compared to that of the class I specific inhibitors. Thus, these studies are useful in distinguishing between events mediated solely by the Class I HDACS versus those events involving the other classes of HDACS as well. Conclusion: The anticancer efficacy of targeting Class I and II HDACS, in conjunction with radiation therapy, may be further enhanced by the restoration of p53 expression.

Background: This paper aimed to verify the effects of renal replacement therapy on changing the levels of serum creatinine for different veno-arterial and veno-venous configurations in prolonged extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients. Methods: The subjects were chosen 71 patients who had undergone more than 1,440 minutes (24 hours) of the therapy from among 117 patients who had undergone ECMO insertion between January 2008 and December 2012. The patients were separated into the veno-arterial configuration group I (51 patients) and the veno-venous configuration group II (20 patients). The difference in the level of serum creatinine (${\Delta}Cr$) between before or just after ECMO insertion ($Cr_I$) and the level when the pump time was between 2,880 and 4,320 minutes ($Cr_F$) was checked (${\Delta}Cr=Cr_F-Cr_I$), and the average ${\Delta}Cr$ for each group was compared using a Student t-test at the confidence interval (CI) of 95%. Results: The change in the level of serum creatinine was an increase of 0.341 mg/dL (${\sigma}$=0.9202) for group I and a decrease of 0.120 mg/dL (${\sigma}$=1.5292) for group II. The change was significantly high for group I (p=0.011, CI=95%). Meanwhile, within group I, when renal replacement therapy was not done, there was a significant increase in the level of serum creatinine (p=0.009, CI=95%). Conclusion: For ECMO insertion patients whose pump time was more than 1,440 minutes, there was a significant change in the level of serum creatinine when renal replacement therapy was not done, for the veno-arterial configuration of group I.

This study quantitatively analyzed the fire risk of buildings by use nationwide, fire occurrence, and the statistical data of buildings by use. Fire incidents and buildings' statistics from the past 10 years (2008-2017) were used and classified as "Building Laws" and "Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Installation, Maintenance, and Safety of Fire Facilities" to be used for the relative assessment under the Natural Breaks as a risk matrix. In addition, after conducting risk assessment using 2018 fire occurrence data, we compared and analyzed the same with past 10 years' data. The results showed that most facilities had similar risk grades, except for the results of reduced risk levels from IV to II in recreational facilities, confirming the past and present data correlations as valid. Hence, the classification method is deemed appropriate. Through the results, the fire risk assessment of buildings by use nationwide are presented as a reference for fire safety.
The crystal structure of bis(N-methylphenazinium) bis(oxalato)palladate(II) has been determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystal data: ((C_{13}H_{11}N_2)_2[Pd(C_2O_4)_2]) $M_w$ = 672.93, Triclinic, Space Group P1 (No = 2), a = 7.616(8), b = 9.842(3), c = $20.335(7)\AA$, $\alpha$ = 103.53(3), $\beta$ = 90.00(5), $\gamma$ = $112.38(5)^{\circ}$, Z = 2, $V = 1363(2){\AA}^3\;D_c = 1.639\;gcm^{-3},\;{\mu} = 7.3\;cm^{-1},\;F(000) = 680.0$. The intensity data were collected with $Mo-K\alpha$ radiation (${\lambda}$= 0.7107\;\AA)$ on an automatic four-circle diffractometer with a graphite monochromater. The structure was solved by Patterson method and refined by full matrix least-square methods using Killean & Lawrence weights. The final R and S values were $R = 0.069,\;R_w = 0.050,\;R_{all} = 0.069$ and S = 5.45 for 3120 observed reflections. Both cation and anion complexes are essentially planar and have dihedral angles of 6.3(6) and $57.06(6)^{\circ}$ between their planes. The planar complex anions are sandwiched between slightly bent cations. The interplanar separations of two triads are 3.328 and 3.463 $\AA$, respectively. The triads are stacked along b-axis, but their orientations are different based on dihedral angle $59.08(9)^{\circ}$ of two complex anions.

PANM-DB (version 1.0) was constructed as a web-based interface for the analysis and annotation of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data of Mollusca, Arthropoda, and Nematoda. The database collected the sequences of Protostomes (Mollusca, Arthropoda, and Nematoda) from the NCBI Taxonomy Browser, and the same were compiled in a multi-FASTA format and stored using the formatdb program. This improved the processing of the RNA-seq sequences in terms of speed and hit percentage. PANM-DB has been successfully used for the transcriptome annotation of butterfly, land snail, and other commercial mollusca. We have improved the database by updating the same with new sequences and version 2.0 contains a total of 7,571,246 protein sequences (two times more as compared to version 1.0). Furthermore, the updated version contains the Cephalopoda database. The constructed web interface is available that independently analyses following these updates that is an improvement of the mollusks BLAST server. The updated version of PANM-DB will be helpful for the analysis of the NGS based sequencing data of non-model species, especially Mollusca, Arthropoda, Nematoda.
