This paper presents a design of macro-micro system for high-speed mounting of micro-chips. A macro motion device is driven by DC servomotor and ball screw mechanism. To obtain fast response, a micro motion device utilizes a precision elector magnetic actuator In order to reduce peak impact force, We evaluate the design parameters that have an effect on it. And a characteristic of response is simulated using PID controller in velocity and force control.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the screw-in effect and torque generation depending on the size of glide path during root canal preparation. Materials and Methods: Forty Endo-Training Blocks (REF A 0177, Dentsply Maillefer) were used. They were divided into 4 groups. For groups 1, 2, 3, and 4, the glide path was established with ISO #13 Path File (Dentsply Maillefer), #15 NiTi K-file NITIFLEX (Dentsply Maillefer), modified #16 Path File (equivalent to #18), and #20 NiTi K-file NITIFLEX, respectively. The screw-in force and resultant torque were measured using a custom-made experimental apparatus while canals were instrumented with ProTaper S1 (Dentsply Maillefer) at a constant speed of 300 rpm with an automated pecking motion. A statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance and the Duncan post hoc comparison test. Results: Group 4 showed lowest screw-in effect ($2.796{\pm}0.134$) among the groups (p < 0.05). Torque was inversely proportional to the glide path of each group. In #20 glide path group, the screw-in effect and torque decreased at the last 1 mm from the apical terminus. However, in the other groups, the decrease of the screw-in effect and torque did not occur in the last 1 mm from the apical terminus. Conclusions: The establishment of a larger glide path before NiTi rotary instrumentation appears to be appropriate for safely shaping the canal. It is recommended to establish #20 glide path with NiTi file when using ProTaper NiTi rotary instruments system safely.

PURPOSE. In this study, a temporal abutment fixation screw, designed to fracture in a controlled way upon application of an occlusal force sufficient to produce critical micromotion was developed. The purpose of the screw was to protect the osseointegration of immediate loaded single implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Seven different screw prototypes were examined by fixing titanium abutments to 112 Mozo-Grau external hexagon implants (MG Osseous$^{(R)}$; Mozo-Grau, S.A., Valladolid, Spain). Fracture strength was tested at $30^{\circ}$ in two subgroups per screw: one under dynamic loading and the other without prior dynamic loading. Dynamic loading was performed in a single-axis chewing simulator using 150,000 load cycles at 50 N. After normal distribution of obtained data was verified by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, fracture resistance between samples submitted and not submitted to dynamic loading was compared by the use of Student's t-test. Comparison of fracture resistance among different screw designs was performed by the use of one-way analysis of variance. Confidence interval was set at 95%. RESULTS. Fractures occurred in all screws, allowing easy retrieval. Screw Prototypes 2, 5 and 6 failed during dynamic loading and exhibited statistically significant differences from the other prototypes. CONCLUSION. Prototypes 2, 5 and 6 may offer a useful protective mechanism during occlusal overload in immediate loaded implants.
The conventional actuators with the speed reducer had weakness in supporting the weight of the body and leg itself. To overcome this, a new four bar link mechanism actuated by the ball screw was proposed. Using this, we developed a new type of 10 D.O.F biped robot. The dynamics model of the biped robot is investigated in this paper. In the modeling process, the robot dynamics are expressed in the joint coordinates using the Euler-Lagrange equation. Then, they are converted in to the sliding joint coordinates, and joint torques are expressed in the force along the sliding direction of the ball screw. To test modeling of the robot, a computer simulation was performed.

Objective : The purpose of the present study was to compare inter-fragmentary compression pressures after fixation of a simulated type II odontoid fracture with the headless compression Herbert screw and a half threaded cannulated lag screw. Methods : We compared inter-fragmentary compression pressures between 40- and 45-mm long 4.5-mm Herbert screws (n=8 and n=9, respectively) and 40- and 45-mm long 4.0-mm cannulated lag screws (n=7 and n=10, respectively) after insertion into rigid polyurethane foam test blocks (Sawbones, Vashon, WA, USA). A washer load cell was placed between the two segments of test blocks to measure the compression force. Because the total length of each foam block was 42 mm, the 40-mm screws were embedded in the cancellous foam, while the 45-mm screws penetrated the denser cortical foam at the bottom. This enabled us to compare inter-fragmentary compression pressures as they are affected by the penetration of the apical dens tip by the screws. Results : The mean compression pressures of the 40- and 45-mm long cannulated lag screws were $50.48{\pm}1.20N$ and $53.88{\pm}1.02N$, respectively, which was not statistically significant (p=0.0551). The mean compression pressures of the 40-mm long Herbert screw was $52.82{\pm}2.17N$, and was not statistically significant compared with the 40-mm long cannulated lag screw (p=0.3679). However, 45-mm Herbert screw had significantly higher mean compression pressure ($60.68{\pm}2.03N$) than both the 45-mm cannulated lag screw and the 40-mm Herbert screw (p=0.0049 and p=0.0246, respectively). Conclusion : Our results showed that inter-fragmentary compression pressures of the Herbert screw were significantly increased when the screw tip penetrated the opposite dens cortical foam. This can support the generally recommended surgical technique that, in order to facilitate maximal reduction of the fracture gap using anterior odontoid screws, it is essential to penetrate the apical dens tip with the screw.
This study is an introduction of ADS in which we have written out programs which can design three-dimensional machine parts and reduce the required time for design them comparing with other CADs. Among the machine parts, screws are commonly used in joining one part to another because of easy handing but welding and rivet are used to join permanently them even thought hard operation. Consequently, we have developed the screw for permanent fixing using stairs type screw threads, which is considered as the main machine parts in joining. For that, we designed permanent fastened screws according to the different rotation angle using VisualLISP and transferred it to ANSYS, structural solution program, to find out allowance load, maximum equivalent stress and where it occur.
A general vibration phenomenon of a rigid-body supported by springs can be viewed as a small repetitive screw displacement. From this view, a multi-directional vibration absorber can be designed by use of screw theory and transfer matrix method. In this paper, the basic equations of motion for a multi-body system have been expressed in terms of screws using transfer matrix method and a simple approach to the design of a multi-degrees-of-freedom absorber has been presented. In order to illustrate the methodology, an example for the design of a 2-DOF active absorber which is capable of absorbing vibration of a rigid body excited by 3-DOF external force has been presented.
PURPOSE. Four and six implant-supported fixed full-arch prostheses with various framework materials were assessed under different loading conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS. In the edentulous maxilla, the implants were positioned in a configuration of four to six implant modalities. CoCr, Ti, ZrO2, and PEEK materials were used to produce the prosthetic structure. Using finite element stress analysis, the first molar was subjected to a 200 N axial and 45° oblique force. Stresses were measured on the bone, implants, abutment screw, abutment, and prosthetic screw. The Von Mises, maximum, and minimum principal stress values were calculated and compared. RESULTS. The maximum and minimum principal stresses in bone were determined as CoCr < ZrO2 < Ti < PEEK. The Von Mises stresses on the implant, implant screw, abutment, and prosthetic screws were determined as CoCr < ZrO2 < Ti < PEEK. The highest Von Mises stress was 9584.4 Mpa in PEEK material on the prosthetic screw under 4 implant-oblique loading. The highest maximum principal stress value in bone was found to be 120.89 Mpa, for PEEK in 4 implant-oblique loading. CONCLUSION. For four and six implant-supported structures, and depending on the loading condition, the system accumulated different stresses. The distribution of stress was reduced in materials with a high elastic modulus. When choosing materials for implant-supported fixed prostheses, it is essential to consider both the number of implants and the mechanical and physical attributes of the framework material.
In this paper, we studied coatings of the DLC thin film for improving loosening torque of dental implant screw. We used a filtered arc ion plating process which can realize the most dense DLC layer by coating the DLC thin film on the surface of the dental abutment screw. It showed both hardness comparable to diamond and low friction coefficient similar to graphite, and to improve the loosening phenomenon by increasing the screw tightening force Cr/CrN, Ti/TiN or Ti/TiN/Cr/CrN buffer layers were deposited for 5 to 10 minutes to improve the adhesion of the DLC thin film to the surface of the Ti (Gr.5), and then the DLC thin film was coated for about 15 minutes. As a result, the Cr/CrN buffer layer exhibited the highest hardness of 29.7 GPa, the adhesion of 18.62N on average, and a very low coefficient of friction of less than 0.2 as a whole. And we measured loosening torque after one million times with masticatory movement simulator. As a result, the values of the coated screw loosening torque were clearly higher than those of the uncoated screw. From this, it was found that the DLC coating was effective methods improving the loosening torque. In addition, it was confirmed that the cytotoxicity test and cell adhesion test showed high biocompatibility.
