The 2D animation screen is a screen work that is produced on the plane. So, it is superficial in terms of space. Therefore, we expressed via picture technique that uses the movement of camera and back-ground in order to recreate the image of realistic feeling that has multiple effect. Though all multiple-effects were expressed realistically in the early Disney animation of the United States, Japan used the expression of Follow Pan profoundly to provide the animation with economic expression of picture and the depthof screen in order to realize a new technical expression of limited animation while it was producing TV series works in 1960s. Now it is positively expressed even in the United States, too. This study tries to analyze the example that applied the long piece works of Japan which was expressed via the Follow Pan, that is, the movement of camera, to the real approach.
The research on the factors which effect on legibility is mainly utilized as the basic data of selecting the standard guideline of VDT screen. But the research on Korean is scarcer than that of English. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to apply the results of the foreign language to Korean, beause of the difference between the typography of English and that of Korean. Therefore, more systematic and ergonomic research of the Korean typography on VDT screen is needed. In this paper, an experimental study on search speed and error rate is designed and performed according to different Korean letter size and font on search task with VDT. The experimental screen based on popular Ming and Gothic style is made up of total 12 artificial screens, each 6 different font size. As the criteria of the performance, searching speed(s.s.) and error rate (e) are selected, and CFF value is measured to evaluate user's visual fatigue. The results of experiment in font show that the Korean Gothic style is superior to the Korean Ming style in user's visual performance. The letter size that gives user the optimal performance ranges from the visual angle 39.8' to 55.5' in Ming style, from the visual angle 39.8' to 52.6' in Gothic systle. In visual fatigue experiment, the better performance of letter size is, the less tired user feels. And the smaller letter size is, the more tired user feels. There is no relationship between font and user's visual fatigue.
Experimental study is performed to investigate the effect of heat load and operating temperature on the thermal performance of a heat pipe with screen mesh wick. The heat pipe was designed in 200 screen meshes, 500mm length and 12.7mm O.D tube of copper, water as working fluid(4.8g) and nitrogen as non-condensible gas(NCG). The heat pipe used in this study has evaporator, condenser and adiabatic section, respectively. Experimental data of axial wall temperature distribution is presented for heat transport capacity, the temperature of cooling water of condenser, inclination angle, and operating temperature. For the results from this study, it is found that, for the same charging mass of working fluid, the initial operating temperature and the overall wall temperatures of heat pipe are higher for NCG charging mass of $5.0{\times}10^{-6}kg$ and $3.4{\times}10^{-6}kg$, than that of $1.0{\times}10^{-6}kg$.
Using a ray tracing simulation, we have investigated the moir${\acute{e}}$ and starburst phenomena of touch screen panels (TSPs) based on opaque metallic grids (square, hexagonal, and random grids). It is demonstrated that employing a random metal mesh is the most effective way to suppress the moir${\acute{e}}$ and starburst phenomena at the same time. At high crossing angles between metal mesh of TSPs and black matrix (BM) of displays, however, a random metal mesh brings in stronger moir${\acute{e}}$ phenomenon than a square metal mesh due to point defects. Though the square metal mesh suppresses the moir${\acute{e}}$ effect substantially at high crossing angles, yet it results in the strongest starburst patterns. We have also provided the simulation scheme that can capture the moir${\acute{e}}$ and starburst patterns observed experimentally and useful design guidelines for metal grids.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of VDT work on eyes and vision among workers in a TV manufacturing plant. The study subjects consisted of 264 screen workers and 74 non-screen workers who were less than 40 years old male and had no history of opthalmic diseases such as corneal opacities, trauma, keratitis, etc and whose visual acuity on pre-employment health examination by Han's test chart was 1.0 or above. The screen workers were divided into two groups by actual time for screen work in a day : Group I, 60 workers, lesser than 4 hours a day and group II, 204 workers, more than 4 hours a day. From July to October 1992 a questionnaire was administered to all the study subjects for the general charateristics and subjective eye symptoms after which the opthalmologic tests such as visual acuity, spherical equivalent, lacrimal function, ocular pressure, slit lamp test, fundoscopy were conducted by one opthalmologist. The proportion of workers whose present visual acuity was decreased more than 0.15 in comparison with that on the pre-employment health examination by Han's test chart was 20.6% in Group II. 15.0% in Group I and 14.9% in non-screen workers. However, the differences in proportion were not statistically significant. The proportion of workers with decreased visual acuity was not associated with the age, working duration, use of magnifying glass and type of shift work (independent variables) in all of the three groups. However, screen workers working under poor illumination had a higher proportion of persons with decreased visual acuity than those working under adequate illumination (P<0.05) . The proportion of workers whose near vision was decreased was 27.5% in Group II, 18.3% in Group I, and 28.4% in non-screen workers and these differences in proportion were not statistically significant. Changes of near vision were not associated with 4 independent variables in all of the three groups. Six out of seven subjective eye symptoms except tearing were more common in Group I than in non-screen workers and more common in Group II than in Group I (P<0.01). Mean of the total scores for seven subjective symptoms of each worker(2 points for always, 1 point for sometimes, 0 point for never) was not significantly different between workers with decreased visual acuity and workers with no vision change. However, mean of the total scores for Group II was higher than those for the Group I and non-screen workers (P<0.01). Total eye symptom scores were significantly correlated with the grade of screen work, use of magnifying glass, and type of shift work. There was no independent variable which was correlated with the difference in visual acuity between the pre-employment health examination and the present state, the difference between far and near visions, lacrimal function, ocular pressure, and spherical equivalent. Multiple linear regression analysis for the subjective eye symptom scores revealed a positive linear relationship with actual time for screen work and shift work(P<0.01). In this study it was not observed that the VDT work decreased visual acuity but it induces subjective eye symptoms such as eye fatigue, blurred vision, ocular discomfort, etc. Maintenance of adequate illumination in the work place and control of excessive VDT work are recommended to prevent such eye symptoms.
Rice whitening is performed by basically two different whitening actions known as abrasive and frictional. The former adopted in the emery stone abrasive type whiteners and the latter in the jet-air friction type. Comparative milling yields and whitening efficiencies between the whitening system consisting of jet-air friction type whiteners only and the system consisting of both abrasive- and jet-air friction-types have not yet been rigorously defined. This study was to examine the effect of combined operations of abrasive- and jet-air friction-type rice whiteners on milling yields and whitening efficiencies. The small capacity commercial units of the abrasive- and friction-type whiteners were used for the experiments. The combinations of whitening treatments were: 1) Once in the abrasive type and then two to three times in the friction type, 2) twice in the abrasive and then two to three times in the friction type and 3) three to five times in friction type. In these tests, counter pressures for the friction type whiteners were established differently as required to get about the same degree of whitening at the end of predetermined numbers of the repeated operations. The speed of emery stone and the slot angle of the screen were also the factors varied in the abrasive type whitener. Sheukwang rice variety having 13.05% M.C. was used in the tests. The dependent variables were the milled- and head-rice recoveries and electricity consumption. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. It was found that in the whitening systems consisting of abrasive- and friction-type whiteners slot angle of the screen, the rotational speed of emery stone roller had significant effect on the milling yields and whitening efficiency. In general, the increase of the emery stone roller speed from 690 to 950 rpm presented a positive effect on milling yield, and one-pass abrasive milling combinations had higher milling yields than two-pass abrasive milling combinations. 2. It was apparent that if the slot angle of the screen and the speed of emery stone roller are modified and set at an optimum level, the combination whitening system consisting of abrasive- and friction-type whiteners is better than the pure frictional whitening system consisting of jet-air friction type in terms of milling yields and efficiencies. 3. In the rice whitening system consisting of abrasive- and jet-air friction-type whiteners, the best whitening performance was obtained when the slot angle of the screen and the rotational speed of emery stone roller were $45^{\circ}$ and 950rpm, respectively, for the one-pass abrasive milling combinations. However, for the two-pass abrasive mi11ing combinations, the best performance was obtained with $75^{\circ}$ of slot angle and 950 rpm of the emery stone roller speed. 4. As compared with pure frictional whitening systems, the combination systems produced more milled rice by 0.8-1.0% point and more head rice by 0.5-1.5% point, and consumed less electricity by 0.15-0.20 KwH per 100kg of milled rice when the abrasive whiteners were operated in the modified conditions as described in item 3 above. Further study is recommended to find out optimum operational and design conditions of abrasive type whiterners.
As a way for the effective utilization of pallman chips and sawdusts, these furnish materials were combined with non-woody material of plastic (polypropylene) screen in board manufacturing to improve their weak physical and mechanical properties. The conventional boards were made with conditions of specific gravity 0.40, 0.55, 0.70, and 0.85, resin content 8, 10, 12 and 14%, and number of polypropylene screen 1, 2, 3 and 4, and press-lam boards were also manufactured. The physical and mechanical properties were measured and discussed on thickness swelling, bending modulus of rupture and elasticity, tensile strength, internal bond strength, and screw holding strength. The results obtained at this study were summarized as follows: 1. In thinckness swelling both of pallman chip board and sawdust board were improved by the increase of resin content, and press-lam boards showed lower thickness swelling than conventional boards. 2. Both the modulus of rupture and elasticity were increased with the increase of specific gravity, and press-lam boards showed higher modulus of rupture and elasticity than conventional boards. On the other hand, modulus of rupture was increased with the increase of number of polypropylene screen and resin content whereas these effects in modulus of elasticity was not recognized. 3. Tensile strength was increased with the increase of specific gravity, and the boards combined with polypropylene screen showed higher tensile strength than control boards. Also tensile strength was increased with the increase of number of polypropylene screen, and press-lam boards revealed higher tensile strength than conventional boards. 4. Internal bond strength was increased with the increase of specific gravity, and the boards combined with polypropylene screen were lower in internal bond strength than control boards. Also, the boards combined with odd number of polypropylene screen showed lower internal bond strength than those combined with even number of polypropylene screen. 5. Screw holding strength was increased with the increase of resin content and specific gravity but significant difference was not approved between boards combined with polypropylene screen and control boards. In press-lam boards, pallman chip boards of higher specific gravity but sawdust boards of lower specific gravity showed better screw holding strength than control boards.

Recently, Augmented Reality(AR) technologies have been emerged, which shows the types of digital contents integrating real and virtual worlds. To maximize the effect of AR technology, tangible user interface, which enables users to interact with the contents in the same way in which they manipulate objects in real world, is applied. In particular, we expect that the technologies are able to enhance learners' interests and degree of immersion, and produce new learning contents in order to maximize the effect of learning. In this paper, we propose a learning system for scientific experiments with multi-touch screen and tangible user interface. The system consists of an experiment table equipped with a large multi-touch screen and a realistic learning device that can detect the user's simple gestures. In real world, some scientific experiments involve high cost, long time or dangerous objects, but this system will overcome such hindrance and provide learners with a variety of experiment experience in realistic ways.
Objectives: It has long been known about the osteogenic effect of CPC-HAS(cervi parvum cornu herbal-acupuncture solution) on bone tissues. However, it has not been determined the effect of CPC-HAS on cancer cells. The purpose of this study is to screen the CPC-HAS mediated differentially expressed genes..in cancer cells such as SNU484 gastric cancer cell lines. Oligonucleotide microarray approache was employed to screen the differential expression genes. Methods: CPC-HAS was prepared by boiling and stored at $-70^{\circ}C$ until use. Cells were treated with various concentrations of CPC-HAS (0.1, 0.5, 1.5, 10, 20 mg/ml) for 24 h. Cell toxicity was tested by MTT assay. To screen the differentially expressed genes in cancer cells, cells were treated with 1.5 mg/ml of CPC-HAS. For oligonucleotide microarray assay, total RNA was used for gene expression analysis using oligonucleotide Genechip(Human genome U133 Plus 2.0., Affimatrix Co.). Results: It has no cytotoxic effects on SNU484 cell in all concentrations(0.l, 0.5, 1.5, 10, 20 mg/ml). In oligonucleotide microarray assay, in SNU484 cells, the number of more than twofold up-regulated genes was 5 while, the number of more than twofold down-regulated genes was 10. Conclusions: This study showed the screening of CPC-HAS mediated differentially regulated genes using combined approaches of oligonucleotide microarray. The screened genes will be used for the better understanding of the therapeutic effects of CPC-HAS on cancer fields.

Effect of post-annealing treatment times at $200^{\circ}C$ on the peel strength of screen-printed Ag film/polyimide substrate were systematically investigated by $180^{\circ}$ peel test for thermal reliability assessment of printed interconnect. Initial peel strength around 16.7 gf/mm increased up to 29.4 gf/mm after annealing for 24hours, and then sharply decreased to 22.3, 3.6, 0.6, and 0.1 gf/mm after 48, 100, 250, and 500 hours, respectively. Ag-O-C chemical bonding as well as binder organic bridges formations seemed to be responsible for interfacial adhesion improvement after the initial annealing treatment, while excessive Cu oxide formation at Cu/Ag interface seems to be closely related to sharp decrease in peel strength for longer annealing times.
