As we consider the condition that 'Nangyeong' is educating in just four departments of medical classics, we have to discuss about the stature of Nangyeong and to extend education of Nangyeong. 4. In the department of medical classics, we can improve the level of understanding and reading skills by educating the class of 'Sanghanron' and 'Donguibogam'. 5. Objective : The current wuiwan poses a challenge in understanding related disease because one term refers to many different parts. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to review historical documents and define the areas of wuiwan revolving around the wuiwan-related disease. Method : The Sikuquanshu database, Traditional Chinese Medical(TCM) books webdatabase were studied, and selections were made from the texts that discussed wuiwan. Result & Conclusion : The term wuiwan is used to refer to stomach's capacity. The word wuiwan is first discovered in Neijing. wuiwan-related disease as shown in Neijing does not move beyond the scope of stomach. The view of seeing wuiwan as part of esophagus is discovered in the text which explains dysphagia, and it is believed that this expression was used in the purpose of pointing the airway and the esphagus. Therefore, the reason wuiwan was viwed as esophagus has to be confined within the texts in documents that explain dysphagia or within the Four-Constitution Medicine. Generally, it is more reasonable to see wuiwan within the scope of stomach.
Objectives : The objective of this study was to understand the Korean Medical understanding of the principles and physiology of breathing. Methods : Contents related to breathing were searched in the Korean Medical texts, after which they were categorized according to theme, then analyzed. Results : Breathing is a manifestation of life force originating from the 'innate original qi [先天一氣]'. Humans connect to the Heavenly qi-the origin of life- through breathing, through which the rhythm and consistency of yin/yang movement that enables maintenance of life qi could be embodied. The specific result of breathing is the circulation of qi and blood and the brightness of spirit. In addition, breathing is the process that connects human to heaven, allowing for the pulse or its rhythm to be maintained. Hence, breathing is alternately called 'the head of pulses'. Conclusions : Breathing in Korean Medicine goes beyond the scope of its biomedical understanding as a metabolic process of oxygen and carbon dioixde exchange, as it is concerned with the question of the origin of life. As such, the principle and effect of breathing is broadly connected to both innate and acquired life phenomena, wherein jing(精,) qi(氣,) shen(神) are all associated.
Objectives : To review the meaning of Open-Close-Pivot and its transition over time. Methods : Annotations and explanations in chapters where the theory of Open-Close-Pivot originated from in the "Suwen(素問)" and "Lingshu(靈樞)" were examined, followed by philological examination of key physicians. Results & Conclusions : Yang Shang Shan(楊上善) compared the 'Open-Close-Pivot' to a door. Wang Bing(王冰) explained it's movement and stillness to be the principle behind the Three-Yin-Three-Yang's threefold division. Wang Ji(汪機), in "XuSuwenChao(續素問鈔)" explained its physiological function as the entering and exiting of Ying Wei(營衛), and its scope to be exterior, interior, and center. Ma Shi(馬蒔) stratified it similar to "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)"'s six stages, while Wu Kun(吳崑) categorized Shaoyang(少陽) as being in-between exterior and interior. Zhang Jing Yue(張景岳) suggested a standard for the entering-exiting and exterior-interior-center concepts of the Open-Close-Pivot. Zhang Zhi Cong(張志聰) argued a theory of Open-Close-Pivot that emphasized the meaning of Three-Yin-Three-Yang, while Gao Shi Zong(高士宗) explained the relationship between Open, Close, Pivot and the functioning process. Shi Shou Tang(石壽棠) explained the physiology and pathology in the actions among Open-Close-Pivot with a focus on Pivot. Ke Qin(柯琴) applied Open-Close-Pivot to "Shanghanlun(傷寒論)" and used it as the basic principle to the Six Channel Ground Theory(六經地面說), also clinically applying it in the identification and treatment of the Six Channel patterns. Conclusions : Counting based word embedding methods seems to be more effective than.

Objective : This study will analyze the constitution of Danxihuqianwan(丹溪虎潛丸) with the dragon-tiger and lead-mercury theory of Su Shi(蘇軾). It would help understand more the usage of Danxihuqianwan over the scope of Sa-nam and bo-buk(瀉南補北) theory that has been well known until now. Methods : This study tried to analyze the explanation about Danxihuqianwan in Yixuerumen(醫學入門) that had used the dragon-tiger and lead-mercury concept with the theory of this kind that appears in Sushenliangfang(蘇沈良方). Results & Conclusion: Based on the internal alchemy theory, Su Shi proclaimed that dragon[龍] corresponds to mercury[汞] Jeong(精) Hyul(血), and tiger[虎] corresponds to lead[鉛] Qi(氣). It is said to be in good position that dragon appears from fire and tiger is hidden in water. Su Shi also expalined the relation between dragon and tiger as the relation of water[水] and fire[火] between heart and kidney. As Li Yan(李梴) did, the dragon-tiger theory could be applied to the analysis about Danxihuqianwan, and it explains well the effect of this prescription that makes tiger hidden in water and thus help cure the diseases such as atrophy syndrome.
Objectives : Dianji is a classic mental disorder in oriental medicine. Dian is often used as a name of disease together with Xian and Kuang. However, much confusion arises due to the usage of such words as Diankuang or Dianxian without the full comprehension of these terms' meanings. Dian, especially, is contained in both, so there is a need to clearly define its meaning. Therefore, the paper aims to study in what context Huangdineijing, the oldest classical medical text in oriental medicine, used Dian. Methods : All statements in Huangdineijing containing Dian were studied to create a number of categories. Based on this analysis, the paper attempted to understand Dianji's symptoms, mechanism, natures, and more. Then lastly, the relationship between the usage of Kuang and Xian was pondered upon. Conclusions & Results : The mechanism of pathology of the Dianji in Huangdineijing can be understood within the scope of upper excess and lower deficiency and the reversal of qi. Additionally, Dianji refers to a sickness in the head, and has a essence of spirit disease. Dian and Kuang were expressed as two types of relationship. One expression was a form of symptom that becomes visible during the occurrence phase of Dian, and the other expression was the cases where it was used as an independent sign. On the other hand, there was no case where Xian and Dian were explained in conjunction with each other. However, there still exist some similarities, mainly in that both diseases revolves around epilepsy.

Purpose: To provide basic informations for guidelines of Ginseng usage during lactation. Method: Based on a regulation of scope and preparation of herbal prescriptions by Ministry of health and welfare of Korea, we selected the formulae for postpartum care and disease in 7 Korean Medical Classics. And we searched the number of formulae including Ginseng, dosage and indications of Ginseng in formulae in those books. Results: The range of Ginseng dosage during lactation from medical classics is 1.5-18.75g/day for medical purposes. Indications of Ginseng are lethargy, excessive bleeding, asthma, fever, cold, pain, dizziness, mental disorder, spasm, digestive problem, constipation, diarrhea, urinary incontinence, edema, breast engorgement, lack of breastmilk, breast ulcer, etc. But Ginseng had not been used in the case of stroke, epistaxis, beginning of mastitis, tumor of lower abdomen. If breastfeeding woman wants to take Ginseng as a medication or as a tonic, she should consult with a official specialist about proper prescription and dosage instead of risky random medication.
