학생 과학탐구 실험대회의 출제와 평가 결과 분석 (Test Item Set and Evaluation Result Analysis of the Students' Science Inquiry Experiment Tournament)

  • The purposes of the 'Students' Science Inquiry Experiment Tournament' which is one of the 'Students' Science Inquiry Olympic Tournaments' are; 1) cultivate students' intellectual interests, inquiry abilities, and scientific attitude dealing with students' scientific reasoning abilities, problem solving abilities, and experimental apparatuses operation abilities. 2) contribute substantiality of science education through experimental inquiry learning. 3) make the ground of basic science development of the future society by selecting excellent students who have talents for science. 4) elevate science teachers' morale by this tournament. The test items set and evaluation results of the tournament were analysed in this study. The results of this study were ; 1) the discrimination ability of the paper-and pencils test and the experiments were low because the students' scores of the items were not normally distributed and standard deviations were very small values. 2) most of the tournament participation students did not answered to the subjective type test items. 3) according to the responses of the tournament participation students, the tournament contribute to the students' interests in science. But the opinion was dominant that the tournament didn't contribute to school science education improvement.

간호철학 정립 필요성에 관한 소고 (In Search of the Foundation of the Philosophy of Nursing Science)

  • For nursing as a science to establish a unique system of knowledge, nursing researches should include philosophical activities such as critique, analysis and synthesis. As a consequence of these activities, nursing science comes to add up more abundant content of knowledge and have a more refined scientific system. In short, nursing science can be developed in respects of tools and methods through philosophical researches, i.e., philosophy of nursing science. Traditionally, the task of supplying individual science with pertaining methodological principles has been due to philosophy, or philosophy of each Scientic discipline. Philosophy of nursing science establishes a demarcation between nursing and non-or pseudo-nursing, so that the unique natue of nursing can be revealed. Systematizing the particular knowledges or informations discovered through empirical reseal ches, philosophy of nursing science, as a part of rational activities to construct its scientific theories. Owing to philosophy of nursing science, conceptual frameworks or theories settled in various branches of nursing science can be integrated into a holistic system. Philosophy of nursing science can include arguments on standards, values, goals and intents of nursing behavior, so that their interrelational networks can be understood. Philosophical discussions can offer nursing science positive ways to more extensive development, preventing it from indulging in particular or exclusive inclination. And Philosophy of nursing science in itself should also keep a liberal attitude to overcome preconceptions concerning methodology of nursing science.

  • If we compare socio-cultural aspects of the two historical periods known as 'pre-modern' 'modern,' it would seem that the Aristotelian understanding of technology has difficulty explaining techno-cultural phenomenon of modern society. The problems are first that the discourse of scientific technology in the modern period has proceeded without a metaphysical base, and second that nothing in present culture regulates the limitations of scientific technology. The clear distinction between means and ends in the traditional approach is no longer valid in the jumble of interrelationships. Such complexity forces us to acknowledge that means and ends are relative and interchangeable, and that neither has a clear moral superiority over the other. Technology in modern society is no more a neutral means. The products of science do not always exist to serve human ends. In modem architecture and urban design, both its productive and destructive tendencies leave man and his society in an endless confusion of complexity and opposition. These problems of technology still result in unsolved question today. On this point, the discussion another currently prevalent attitude to technology, especially Heideggerian thinking in the below could give a somewhat clearer answer to the problem of modem architecture and technology, although it also comprises limited contemplation in itself.

신문기사를 활용한 과학글쓰기 수업 전략의 개발과 적용 (The Development and Application of Instructional Strategy for Science Writing using Newspaper Articles)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop instructional strategy for newspaper-based science writing and to examine the effect of its application. The target unit was 'change of weather' and 'a variety of gas' in the sixth grade of elementary school, and the teaching strategy was composed of 3 stages-writing including realistic, interpretative and comprehensive writing. The result of applying this strategy into actual classrooms was as follows. First, it was proven that the science writing strategy using newspaper articles actually helped improving science process skills of learners, in particular, integrated process skills. Second, this strategy for science writing changed the scientific attitude of learners positively. While they read the newspaper articles, their thinking became more elaborate and systemized, which seemed to serve to foster their openness, criticism, and perseverance. Third, the science writing strategy did not contribute to the improvement of learners' science study achievement. To improve the understanding of scientific concepts and principles of learners, it is needed that teaching program combines with argument-based activity organically. The above-mentioned findings show that this instructional strategy using newspaper articles can be applicable as one of effective methods in science writing.

초ㆍ중학생의 과학에 대한 이해 (The Primary and middle school students understanding on science.)

  • The purpose of this study was to seek desirable direction of science teaching and to present meaningful ideas for implementing the science curriculum and teaching materials by measuring the degree of the students' understandings on science and comparing it with those of American students. The researcher comprised 790 primary and middle school students for the study and administered them questionnaires developed by Trowbridge, Bybee, and Sund. The questionnaires were analyzed along with three categories such as science method, science theory, and the achievement of scientists. The researcher used t-test and ANOVA in order to compare the difference of their understandings in accordance with grades and gender, and later compared Korean students' understandings with those of similar aged American students administered by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) The research loathed to the overall conclusions as follows; Both primary and middle school students' understandings on science revealed positive and appeared no significant difference in gender. And it is thought that science education was being carried out hopefully to enhancing Korean students' scientific literacy, therefore, science teaching like what is implemented to the classrooms currently should be kept on in future. On the other hand, it is necessary to change primary school children's understandings on attitude and value of scientists while to change middle school students' understandings on scientific processes by experiment. Also primary school children need to understand that scientists are willing to change their ideas when new information becomes known.

KSR-III 과학탑재 시스템 개발

  • 본 논문에서는 3단형 과학관측로켓(KSR-III)에 탑재될 과학탑재부 시스템에 대하여 기술하였다. 과학탑재부에는 크게 오존측정기, 이온층 전자측정기, 대기광도계, 자력계 등이 있으며 선별적으로 탑재되어 한반도 상공의 고층 대기 상태에 대한 연구를 수행할 예정이다. 오존측정기는 한반도 상공의 오존 기둥 밀도를 측정하며 전자측정기는 이온층의 전자밀도와 전자온도를 측정한다. 대기광도계는 중간권의 대기광을 측정하며 자력계는 로켓 자세정보와 로켓이 비행하는 고도에서의 자기장 섭동량을 측정한다. 탑재체들은 현재 개발이 완료된 상태이며 지상 보정 실험도 수행하였으며 각종 환경시험을 통과하였다.

  • "Tolerance" is considered as an important professional quality of a modern specialist, which is manifested in an active moral position and readiness for constructive interaction with other participants in the pedagogical process; characterized by the manifestation of humanity, tolerance, friendliness, focus on resolving conflict situations in the professional sphere on a non-violent basis. The article considers scientific approaches to understanding the phenomenon of "tolerance". There are a number of factors that significantly affect the formation of tolerance in students. The way to the formation of tolerance is the rejection of social prejudices, negative social stereotypes, the development of an objective attitude to man regardless of his individual characteristics, the formation of skills of tolerant interpersonal interaction, the use of lectures, discussions, games and training in educational work. The purpose of this article is to highlight communicative tolerance as a necessary component of pedagogical practice of future professionals. It was emphasized that tolerance is the basis of religious tolerance and peace, prevention of all kinds of extremism, which are of particular importance for a multinational and multi-religious Ukraine.

Students' Salivary Cortisol level and Emotional intensity vary by teacher's teaching style in Secondary School Science Class

  • This study was conducted to examine my hypothesis that how teacher's teaching style influences emotional and physiological states of students in the secondary school science classroom. Sixty healthy secondary school students were participated in this study and divided into two groups: manipulation and non-manipulation. Each group underwent different styles of teaching on the scientific hypothesis-generating of com starch experiment. Before and after the class, the strength of emotion was measured using adjective emoticon check lists and they extracted their saliva sample for salivary hormone analysis. Here are the results of this study. First, the intensity of positive emotions in the manipulation group was significantly stronger than the one in the non-manipulation group, whereas the intensity of negative emotions in the non-manipulation group was significantly stronger than the one in the manipulation group. Second, the cortisol level, an indicator of stress, was decreased in the manipulation group whereas it was increased in non-manipulation group. Third, the quality of scientific hypotheses which is generated by students during the class had no connection with types of instructions. Fourth, this study found significantly negative correlation between students' emotional intensity of interest and concentration changes of salivary cortisol. Therefore, the different teaching styles have influence upon students' attitude and interest in science.

초등학교 과학수업에서 과학동시를 활용하는 전략의 개발과 적용 (The Development and Application of Strategies using Children's Science Verses in Elementary Science Teaching)

  • This study plans to develop strategies using children's verse in science education and investigate the effects of instruction using children's verses on the attitude toward science. The study tried to determine strategies using children's science verse in order to find out their value. For the purpose of this, two classes of the 6th grade were selected in an elementary school for tests. The results from this research showed that strategies using children's verse in science education were developed and applied in teaching/learning purposes as well as in the area of literature. A strategy for remembering was applied widely. A strategy for understanding scientific principles and for quest methods, writing children's science verses directly helped in scientific conceptual formation. Instruction using children's science verses had a positive effect on the attitudes toward science. Students maintained positive attitudes throughout instruction that used children's science verses. In conclusion, instruction using children's science verses can be applied to science education, and the attitudes toward science and learning achievements can be improved.

한국과 미국의 초등학교 과학 교과서 분석 (Elementary Science Textbook Analysis of Korea and the United States)

  • 과학교과서는 한국과 미국에서 가장 많이 쓰이는 교수 학습 자료이다. 과학교육목표와 과학교과내용의 특징을 분석하기 위하여 한국과 미국의 초등학교 과학 교과서를 분석하였다. 한국과 미국의 1학년과 4학년 과학 교과서 각각 100 쪽을 무작위로 선택하여 과학교육목표를 분석하였다. 1학년에서 6학년까지의 생명 영역의 과학 내용이 분석되었다. 한국의 1학년 과학내용은 슬기로운 생활 교과서를 분석하였는데, 슬기로운 생활 교과는 과학교과와 사회교과의 통합교과이다. 미국에서 많이 쓰이고 있는 초등학교 교과서 중 하나인 Harcourt Science의 1학년과 4학년 교과서를 분석하였다. 과학교육목표분석체계는 과학 지식, 과학적 탐구, 과학적 태도, STS, 그리고 과학 철학과 역사로 구성되어 있다. 한국과 미국의 초등학교 과학 교과서의 내용을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 미국의 초등학교 과학 교과서는 과학적 탐구 보다 과학 지식을 더 많이 포함하고 있었다. 한국의 과학 교과서는 과학 지식 보다는 과학적 탐구를 더 많이 포함하고 있었다. 미국의 초등학교 과학 교과서는 생명 영역의 일부 주제에 대하여 한국 보다 더 어려운 내용을 다루었고, 세포나 생태계의 종류에 대해서는 여러 학년에 걸쳐 반복적으로 다루고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
