  • Information and telecommunication technology are causing revolutionary changes in society and its institutions. It is especially more so in the field of science and technology (S&T). Extraordinary advances in microelectronics have fueled this information revolution, and S&T scholarly communication are changing rapidly and dramatically because of it as are the needs of science and technology information users. To seek pertinent scientific and technical information (STI) is a complex matter in this electronic digitalized age of information environment. Before we meet information needs of scientists and engineers effectively, we must know the Purpose for their seeking the information, the type of information they sought, and what we have been providing to satisfy their needs.(omitted)

Text Mining and Visualization of Papers Reviews Using R Language

  • Nowadays, people share and discuss scientific papers on social media such as the Web 2.0, big data, online forums, blogs, Twitter, Facebook and scholar community, etc. In addition to a variety of metrics such as numbers of citation, download, recommendation, etc., paper review text is also one of the effective resources for the study of scientific impact. The social media tools improve the research process: recording a series online scholarly behaviors. This paper aims to research the huge amount of paper reviews which have generated in the social media platforms to explore the implicit information about research papers. We implemented and shown the result of text mining on review texts using R language. And we found that Zika virus was the research hotspot and association research methods were widely used in 2016. We also mined the news review about one paper and derived the public opinion.

  • A direct connection between certain lifestyle factors and an increased risk of cancer has already been established. Despite well-documented associations, controversial messages on causes of cancer often appear without taking into consideration their impact on the general population. While mainstream coverage of cancer research is clearly welcome, consideration must be given to the risk of transmitting provocative messages with serious negative consequences for cancer research and public health. We must avoid becoming a breeding ground for the misinterpretation of scientific information. Polemical results can stimulate scientific research and progress, but controversial messages encourage confusion and impotence in an increasingly disoriented population. The correct communication of health messages is at least as important as research on risk factors.

학교 과학교육에서의 과학적 논증활동을 위한 탐구학습 지도방법 탐색 (An Exploration of Teaching Method for Scientific Inquiry including Scientific Argumentation in School Science)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 학생들의 과학적 소양 향상을 위한 과학적 논증활동이 수반된 과학 탐구학습 지도방법을 탐색하는데 있다. 연구 목적 해결을 위해, 문헌 연구를 통해 학생들의 논증활동을 평가 틀이 포함된 지도 방법을 개발하였다. 그리고 이 지도방법을 7학년 학생과 9학년 학생들에게 시범적으로 적용하고 사전, 사후 설문지를 통해 학생들의 견해에 변화가 있는지 조사하였다. 교사들에게 참여한 학생들의 과학적 논증활동에서 태도 변화가 관찰되는지와 지도방법의 적용가능성에 대해 물어보았다. 그 결과, 학생들의 태도가 통계적으로 유의미하게 변화되었으며, 교사들로부터도 학생들의 태도 변화가 관찰되었다는 의견을 얻었다. 또한 교사들은 지도방법이 학교현장에서 적용가능하다는 의견을 제시하였다. 따라서 이 방법은 학생들의 과학적 논증활동을 수반한 과학 탐구학습 지도방법으로 적용가능하다는 것이 확인되었다.

재난조사 활용을 위한 MPR기반 무선통신 전송 성능 평가 (Transmission Performance Evaluation of MPR-based Wireless Communication System Applying for Disaster Investigation)

  • 무선통신 네트워크의 끊김없는 접속 기술은 네트워크 사용자에게 서비스 지속성을 담보할 수 있으므로, 네트워크 서비스가 단절되는 상황을 극복해야 하는 재난 상황에서는 반드시 필요하다. MPR(Multiple Path Router)은 복수 통신망을 이용한 고성능 데이터 전송과 가상 사설망(VPN) 기반의 무선 IP 네트워크에서의 네트워크 보안을 제공함으로써 특히 네트워크 장애가 발생할 수 있는 재난사고 환경에서 네트워크 안정성과 운용성을 향상시킬 수 있는 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 재난사고 현장조사에서 무선통신망 운용성능을 개선하기 위하여 MPR기반의 무선통신망 프로토타입을 제안하였으며, 실제 기존의 단일 무선통신망 체계와의 다양한 데이터 전송성능에 대한 비교실험을 수행하였다. 성능평가 실험은 기존/신규 무선통신체계에서의 데이터 패킷 송·수신 성능과 신규 MPR의 전송 능력을 파악하기 위해 기존/신규 단일 라우터 환경에서의 UDP 전송성능을 주요 시간대(오전/오후/야간)별로 측정한 후 평가하였다. 이 실험을 통하여 기존 단일 무선통신 체계에 비해 약 2배 이상의 송수신 성능이 개선됨을 확인할 수 있었으며, 제안한 프로토타입 시스템을 활용하여 재난사고 현장조사시 보다 신속하고 효율적으로 현장 자료 공유와 전파가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

My Humble Thoughts on Political Communication Research in Asia

  • Politics is defined as who gets what, when, and how. Communication is defined as the process, outcomes and effects of message transmission through a medium. Thus political communication in Asia, the most dynamic and uncertain region of the world, has been very dense, requiring rigorous scientific analysis and culturally sensitive reflection. Mass media brought about a revolution in political communication in the last century. In the 21st century, complex monitory devices from the state and international organizations and from the society and transnational groups have transformed the features of political communication. It has triggered another revolution in political communication. Illustrations are given focusing on Asia. A theoretical reflection from the angle of political science is attempted focusing on political communication medium and its effects. I compare no medium (face-to-face communication), mass media, and social media in relation to their effects.

  • The article reflects short-term perspectives on the use of information and communication technologies in the training of teachers for higher education. Education is characterized by conservatism, so aspects of systematic development of the industry are relevant to this cluster of social activity. Therefore, forecasting the introduction of innovative elements of ICT training is in demand for the educational environment. Forecasting educational trends are most relevant exactly in the issues of training future teachers of higher education because these specialists are actually the first to implement the acquired professional skills in pedagogical activities. The article aims to consider the existing potential of ICT-based learning, its implementation in the coming years, and promising innovative educational elements that may become relevant for the educational space in the future. The tasks of scientific exploration are to show the optimal formats of synergy between traditional and innovative models of learning. Based on already existing experience, extrapolation of conditions of educational process organization with modeling realities of using information and communication technologies in various learning dimensions should be carried out. Educational trends for the next 3 years are a rather tentative forecast because, as demonstrated by the events associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the socio-cultural space is very changeable. Consequently, the dynamism of the educational environment dictates the need for a value-based awareness of the information society and the practical use of technological advances. Thus, information and communication technologies are a manifestation of innovative educational strategies of today and become an important component along with traditional aspects of educational process organization. Future higher education teachers should develop a training strategy taking into account the expediency of the ICT component.

A Functional Matrix Approach to Pedagogical Enrichment of the Dispositional Core of Future Specialists' Experience of Social Interaction

  • The new social reality emerging amid the global rise of communication links and integration processes acutely emphasizes the problems of communication in large and small social systems. The method of their communication becomes one of the keys to ensuring global security. It has become the mission of humanitarian education to prepare the younger generations for life in a changing world with no image of the future and increasing uncertainty. In psychological and pedagogical research, there is a growing scientific interest in the problems of interaction of the individual with the social environment. The mental trace of a person's practice in society shapes the experience of social interaction, which constitutes simultaneously the source, tool, and condition for the emergence and development of personality. The study outlines the methodological foundations for the study of individual experiences of social interaction. A hypothesis about the productivity of the functional matrix method is tested. Materials for the training of specialists in the humanities include interdisciplinary approaches to the study and transformation of the experience of social interaction and systematic methodology for the study of complex objects. Fundamental to the study is the systematic-dialectical method, and the matrix method is employed as the instrumental-technological method. The paper presents the results of a multidisciplinary overview of scientific literature concerning the essential characteristics and functions of social interaction and the respective experience. The overview points to the fragmented nature of scientific understanding of the elements of experience outside its integrity and systemic properties. Based on the formula "personality interacts with the social environment", the study presents an algorithm for the application of a systematic methodology for the study of complex objects, which made it possible to identify the system parameters of experience at three levels of cognition and develop the reference structural and functional matrices for the didactic system of its pedagogical enrichment.
