This study aimed to investigate primary students' science-related attitudes through the literature review. Ninety-four papers published in domestic science education journals, since 1990, were collected and were followed by content analysis. In this study, science-related attitude was conceptualized as attitude toward science, scientist, science-related occupations, and school science, which is composed of cognitive, affective and behavioral domains. Based on the conceptualization, the instruments used for measuring students' attitudes were analyzed. The analysis of definition of science-related attitude in the articles showed different foci on cognitive, affective and behavioral domains. To suggest the effective instruction for enhancing students' science-related attitudes, this study identified students' attitude with gender, grade, residence and achievement level. The result showed that male, urban, higher-grade and better performed students had more positive attitude than female, rural, lower-grade and less performed students. As for the factors in science-related attitude, I categorized the factors into personal, environmental and pedagogical aspects, and found that psychological elements in all domains were most influential to students' change of science-related attitudes. It is interesting to note that students showed dichotomous views about experiment and that task-oriented instruction failed to enhance students' attitude. Based on the research findings, this study suggests effective instruction for improving students' attitudes and future research for science education.

This study was conducted to clarify a correlation among science-related attitude, overexcitability and parents' rearing attitude perceived by elementary school students. For this purpose, questionnaire surveys were carried out for 276 elementary school students consisted of 5th and 6th grades. The results were as follows. First, science-related attitude, overexcitability, and parents' rearing attitude perceived by elementary school students were meaningfully different on gender. boys'average was higher in science-related attitude than girls'. In the case of overexcitability, boys'average was higher in psychomotor and intellectual overexcitability than girls', while girls'average was higher in emotional and sensual overexcitability than boys'. According to the analysis for parents' rearing attitude perceived by elementary school students, girl students perceived that their parents more firmly controlled them as compared with boy students. Second, according to the results conducting t-test for types of parents' rearing attitude perceived by students, boy students' average was meaningfully higher in the types of love-autonomy than girl students'. There was no difference between the groups of love-autonomy type and hostility-autonomy type. Third, there showed a meaningful correlation between students' science-related attitude and parents' rearing attitude in order of love, hostility, autonomy, and control type. There showed a meaningful correlation between students' science-related attitude and intellectual, sensual, imaginational, psychomotor, and emotional overexcitability in order. Last, according to multiple regression analysis, factors effecting on science-related attitudes were intellectual overexcitability, love among the types of parents' rearing attitude perceived by students im order.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of Cornell typed science journal writing on elementary students' science-related attitude by gender and academic achievement. The subjects of study were 109 elementary students (5th grade). The experimental group performed Cornell typed science journal writing and the control group maintained traditional lectures for one semester. Science-related attitudes of this study are classified into scientific attitudes (7 sub-domains) and attitudes toward science (5 sub-domains). The collected data were analyzed by ANCOVA with SPSS. The results of study were as follows: Several sub-domain (voluntariness, cooperation, perception about science and scientist) of science-related attitudes positively changed in experimental group. Cornell typed science journal writing was especially effective on improving scientific attitude in male students, and attitude toward science in female students. Also, science journal writing was effective on improving science-related attitude (both scientific attitude and attitude toward science) in high-achieving group, but not effective in low-achieving group.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of STS Programs on science-related attitude of junior high school students. For this study, samples of 198 students who are in grade 8 were selected. The eight STS Programs were used in this study. One group pretest-posttest design was used in this study as an experimental design. The TOSRA was used in this study as the science-related attitude evaluation instrument. The major results of this study are as followings: 1. The effects of STS programs about the junior high school students' science-related attitude indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between pretest and posttest. 2. Total students were classified as high(above about mean) or low (bellow about mean) on the basis of science-related attitude pretest scores. The low level students have improved from using of STS programs in teaching science on science-related attitude scores. The high level students have dropped from using of STS programs in teaching science on science-related attitude scores.

This study investigated gender differences in science-related attitude and to analyze association patterns among social factors affecting the differences. The relationships between student's science-related attitude and four variables - schools, teachers, friends and parents influencing the attitude were analysed. The questionnaire, which identifies whether the four variables influence students' science-related attitudes, were specially constructed and simultaneously administered with test of science-related attitudes (TOSRA) to 603 subjects: junior high, and high school students. Both boys and girls were not significantly different at TOSRA scores; however, by multiple regression analysis, the boys' TOSRA scores were influenced by the variable of parents and the girls' scores were influenced by teachers and friends. Social factors evoking gender differences on science-related attitude do not influence equally at everyday life of boys and girls. As the gender differences in science-related attitude decrease, perceptual changes of parents and teachers, the two most influential factors to make the differences should be important to drag females in science-related work as a desired occupation for women.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the pro-environmental attitude (actual commitment domain, verbal commitment domain, affect domain), behavior to decreased exposure and knowledge of endocrine disruptors by obesity -related profiles (BMI, body fat percentage, visceral fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass percentage, waist circumference, waist-hip ratio). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 102 nursing students. Data were collected from November to December, 2015 using self-report questionnaires and physical measurements. Data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson correlation and coefficients with SPSS 18.0. Results: The study results showed that actual commitment domain of pro-environmental attitude and behavior to decreased exposure level on endocrine disruptors were significantly related to visceral fat percentage. Actual commitment domain of a pro-environmental attitude was significantly related to body fat percentage. Pro-environmental attitude was significantly related to the behavior to decreased exposure level on endocrine disruptors and knowledge thereof. Conclusion: These findings suggest that visceral fat and body fat percentages were significantly related to the actual commitment domain of a pro-environmental attitude. Therefore, a replication study is recommended to understand the connection between endocrine disruptors and obesity. In addition, developing an education program about endocrine disruptors for nursing students is recommended. In particular, a pro-environmental attitude, especially on actual commitment domain, could be involved as an education program.
Purpose - Ethical consumption is the action of buying one product over another with an ethical idea in mind. It has gained in popularity since the 1990s with more emphasis being put on the power of consumer actions to create social, economic, and environmental change. Ethical consumption involves boycotts of certain products or brands as well as purchases linked to ethical issues. Cause-related marketing (the buying behavior of ethical consumption) involves a for-profit and non-profit entity teaming up to promote a product at the same time as promoting a social cause. Each time a consumer buys that product, a donation is made by the for-profit entity to the non-profit entity supporting the specific cause. Cause-related marketing has become a tremendously popular type of ethical consumption in recent years owing to its reputation of allowing companies to "do well by doing good." This study examines how consumers' perception of cause and attitude influence their attitude toward a cause-related marketing campaign and attempts to suggest implications for marketers. Research design, data, and methodology - First, this study was designed to examine the consumers' perception factors (cause involvement, attitude for cause, attitude for company and brand familiarity) in order to determine whether these factors have significantly affected consumers' attitude toward a cause-related marketing campaign. Second, this study developed a structural equation model and tested it empirically using survey data from 223 individual respondents. Respondents were undergraduate students in Chungnam. They were shown an existing real campaign message of cause-related marketing, and then filled out a questionnaire. Data were analyzed with SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 17.0 programs. Results - The hypotheses were tested using factor analysis and structural equation modeling. The study's results showed that brand familiarity, attitude to the company and attitude to the cause significantly affected consumers' attitude toward the cause-related marketing campaign and performance. In particular, attitude to the cause was significantly related to attitude and performance of the cause-related marketing campaign. However, the hypothesis about cause involvement was not supported with the results indicating that cause involvement did not affect consumers' attitude toward the cause-related marketing campaign. The findings underline the importance of consumer perceptions of the cause and the company and their attitude to the cause. They point to the importance of individual differences that influence consumer perceptions of the cause, the company and brand familiarity. Also of importance is the consumer's attitude to the cause. Conclusions - The findings suggest some practical implications in designing and implementing cause-related marketing campaigns. It is important to enhance brand familiarity and create a favorable attitude to the company and attitude to the cause before designing cause-related marketing campaigns. The rising popularity of cause-related marketing has been attributed to its potential to cut through advertising clutter. The findings in this study suggest that marketing campaigns supporting a cause make a difference.
This study is to evaluate the effect of roleplaying-centered STS program on the science-related attitude, the academic achievement, and the problem solving ability in "Environment" unit of high school Science. 90 students in grade 10 were divided into two groups, the experimental group applied the roleplaying-centered STS program and the control group applied the traditional lecture-centered class. The pretest was implemented to measure the science-related attitude, and the posttest was implemented to measure the science-related attitude, the academic achievement, and problem solving ability. The collected data were analyzed by ANCOVA and Correlation Analysis with SPSS program. The results are as follows: First, the experimental group was not significantly different from the control group in the science-related attitude and in the academic achievement(p>.05). Second, the experimental group significantly showed much better problem solving ability than the control group(p<.05). Third, a significant correlation was recognized between the academic achievement and the problem solving ability(p<.01).

The purpose of this study is to introduce the science-play in the regular class, stimulate the student's curiosity, motivate them and take active part in their science class. To make an effective science class, we developed the science-play activity instead of experiments in the text, and applied it to the class. The experimental group has statistically meaningful results in the science process skills, expecially in subordinate elements such as observation, deduction, expectation, data analysis and assumption establishments(p<.01). However, the comparative group has no meaningful results in the science process skills. Though the average value of the science related attitude in the experimental group had only a little increase and had no statistically meaningful results, that in the comparative group has decreased during the same period. As for the experimental group, the science-play activities were repeated and their science related attitude has increased a little. Even though there were no meaningful statistic results(p>.05), the science-play activity was effective in the science related attitude. As a result of this research, it could be said that the science-play activity can improve the student's science process skills and the science related attitude, and the science-play program should be further developed and applied to make easy and effective science classes.
