Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 239 elementary school teachers in Busan and Ulsan from May 7 to 31, 2013. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, use of oral health devices, dental clinic visit within a year, purpose of dental clinic visit, subjective oral health condition, place and contents of oral health education, future contents of oral health education, purpose of tooth brushing, recognition of sealant, recognition of dental caries prevention effect of fluoride, and method and frequency of tooth brushing. Data were analyzed by Predictive Analysis Software(PASW) Statistics $19.0^{(R)}$(SPSS Inc., Chicago IL, USA). Results: Of the 239 teachers, 187 teachers had oral health education experience and 52 did not. Those who had oral health education experience reported higher scores in tooth brushing than those who did not. 59.4% of the respondents answered the experience of oral health education in dental clinics. Conclusions: Oral health behavior was different from the experience of oral health education in the elementary school teachers. The teachers are the most important persons influencing on the right tooth brushing habit in the students. So the teachers must take the continuing and systematic oral health education.

The authors surveyed parents' awareness and behaviors about the oral health of their children. The subjects in this study were 193 parents of elementary school children in Seoul. The collected data were analyzed, the obtained results were as follows: 1. Thirty-five percent of the parents investigated paid a regular visit to a dental clinic. The most common tooth brushing time among them was after dinner, the second was after breakfast, and this was followed by before bedtime and before breakfast 2. Ninety-four percent of the parents responded that prevention is necessary, 92.2% had a plan to visit a dental clinic to prevent dental caries, and 60.1% experienced receiving pit and fissure sealants. Ninety-seven percent responded that they did check their children's dental caries. 54.9% checked their children's oral status after tooth brushing. The parents who visit a dental clinic on a regular basis were more likely to check their children's teeth after tooth brushing than those who don't(P<0.05). 3. Eighty eight percent of respondents wanted to keep the fluoride mouth rinse program. 4. It is recommended that an oral health education program be developed for parents to visit dental clinics on a regular basis, to educate as to the right tooth brushing time, and to check out their children's oral status after tooth brushing.
This study was conducted to investigate of effects of school dental clinic program by evaluating the oral health knowledge and the attitude subjected on the students who had experienced the program in Gimhae and Yangsan city. The subjects were a total of 780 students from 6 elementary dental clinics in Gimhae and Yangsan city from July 5 to 23, 2013. The average oral health knowledge level of students with operating program was 3.36 points, the average oral health knowledge level of students with non-operating program was 2.94 points, the average oral health knowledge level with operating school was higher than non-operating school (p<0.001). The more four times tooth brushing per day with operating school was 37.2%, the three times tooth brushing per day with non-operating school was 34.6%. The oral health knowledge level of students with operating school (odds ratio [OR]=1.58, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.35~1.85) were significantly higher compared to non-operating school, but the number of tooth brushing times per day (OR=1.06, 95% CI=0.93~1.21) was not significant. There is a clear difference of oral health knowledge and attitude depend on whether the school dental clinic operating or not, because it has a positive effect on the attitude and knowledge for health prevention of students, it will be able to enhance the oral health promotion of the students through the program.
Objectives : This study was performed to enhance a rate of Using oral clinic and to search related factors of using oral clinics. Methods : The subjects of the study were 74,698 subjects who answered to the 2007 korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based survey. Answers of 73,836 subjects were used for the final analysis. We used spss of version 12.0. This study conducted a Chi-square test to identify using oral clinics rate according to characteristics of subjects and a multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify whether they are independently significant. Results : Tooth scaling experiences were responded by 10,060 subjects(25.6%). Grade and metropolis, economic level had significant associations with using oral clinic experiences. The rate of using oral clinic showed significant difference in point, depending on general characteristics. Their oral health showed significant difference in point between using oral clinic experience and non-experience groups. According to the multiple logistics regression analysis whose significant independent variables were sex, grade, metropolis, economic level, blooding gum, tooth brushing, oral malodor. Conclusions : The policy is needed to prevent economic constraints from worsening oral health by supporting the poor. And our government should eventually prepare a public relation program suitable for public.
In 2001, as a subject of this study, the first grade 165 kids in Yomju elementary school had been guided in pit and fissure sealant, fluoride rinse, group tooth brushing, and Dental health education as a part of oral disease preventive program. From the data, this author has estimated incremental dental health care program in school dental clinic in order to make it more effective and enlarge it. For that purpose, the program has been continued at six month intervals for two years. The retention condition of pit and fissure sealant in first molar and DMF rate had been investigated. The conclusions are as follows: 1. Full and partial retention of pit and fissure sealant was measured as 80.69% in maxillary right first molar, 83.20% in maxillary left first molar, and 86.72% in mandibular right first molar, and 86.28% in mandibular left first molar. 2. Retention of pit and fissure sealant in first molar was measured as 76.55% in maxillary right first molar, 81.03% in maxillary left first molar, 80.65% in mandibular left first molar, and 82.03% in mandibular right first molar. 3. Among Yomju elementary school students, DMF rate was measured as 8.7%, and DMFT index as 1.03. However, in Yangdong elementary school students the former was measured as 13.8% and the latter as 1.76. When the DMF rate difference between Yomju and Yangdong elementary school kids was considered, the oral health condition of the former was much better than that of the latter because the former had received incremental dental health care program for two years and on the other hand, the latter had not. So it is necessary that we should enlarge school dental clinic, improve and keep students' oral health.
The purpose of this study was to provide the fundamental data for further developments of the school dental clinic program through evaluating oral health knowledge, status and attitude of school dental program subjected on teachers who had experienced the program. The subjects were total 186 teachers from 8 elementary school in Ulsan metropolitan city area that had been operating school dental clinic program from 1999 to 2005. For the teachers by school and period of operation, the level of knowledge and behavior of oral health were no difference, however the recognition and behavior level in shorter operation group were higher, the level of recommend other school was higher than previous research. The efforts for further development school dental clinic program associated with advanced countries should be emphasized including the higher interests, more active participation and strengthened education. The systematic supports would be also important.
