This study was conducted to develop a Parenting Stress Scale that measures the day-to-day difficulties entailed in parenting for school-aged children. First, sixty seven items were collected as a baseline. Some of these items were pooled from existing parenting stress scales(Abidin, 1990; Kim & Kang, 1997), and the rest were generated based on interviews with parents of school-aged children. Secondly, Chi-Square tests were conducted and framer's V coefficients were calculated to determine the goodness-of-fit of the items. Twenty four items were selected from this step. The results of a factor analysis on these 24 items revealed two dimensions of this new Parenting Stress Scale, namely, 'school-related parenting stress' and 'general everyday life stress'. A test of construct validity also showed that this scale has adequate internal consistency.
This study examined the current interior conditions of children's rooms, and investigated the children's satisfaction of the rooms and their needs for improvement. Survey questionnaires were given to 205 elementary school children in the third or lower year grades and to their parents. Frequency analysis, t-tests, analysis of variance, and Duncan tests were mainly employed for data analysis. The findings indicated that the respondents' satisfaction of the children's rooms differed in their grade, room size, and the main color of the rooms. In general, those in the third grade, those in the rooms under 16.5$m^2$, or mainly painted in cold colors, tended to respond more negatively. Meanwhile, they expected to exchange their furniture for study, such as desks and bookshelves, and to individually possess electric appliances in their rooms. Most children's rooms were designed on the basis of the parents' preferences: The more the rooms reflected the children's opinions, the higher satisfaction with the furniture they showed.
The goal of this study is to investigate the relationship between maternal rearing behavior characteristics and elementary school children's Internet use, and to utilize the results as the basic data to develop a program, in which parents learn how to educate their children for better use of the Internet. The subjects were 713 children whose grade are in fourth through sixth in an elementary school. Data were obtained with questionnaires. The instruments employed were Children's Internet Use and Addiction, and maternal rearing behavior characteristics-Rational Guidance, Affection, Authoritarian Control, Overprotection, Achievement Encouragement, and Active Involvement-Scales. The data were analyzed with the SPSS program. They were analyzed by Frequency, Percentage, ANOVA, Duncan's test, and Pearson correlation. The results of this study are as follows: First, 30.2% of the subjects has used Internet for more than three years. 55.6% of the subjects spend less than an hour per day in using the Internet. The two major types of Internet use were playing games(49.9%) and sending e-mails(25.4%). The main reason for playing Internet games was escape from stress(34.7%). 34.5% of the subjects also said that their parents usually encourage them to use the Internet. Second, maternal affection, authoritarian control, and active involvement were significantly different in the types of Internet use. Maternal authoritarian control and overprotection were significantly different in the reasons of doing Internet game. The rational guidance and active involvement of mothers were correlated negatively with children's Internet using time, but their authoritarian control and overprotection were correlated positively with children's Internet using time. Maternal overprotection was correlated positively with parents' encouragement level in the Internet use. Third, the rational guidance, affection, and active involvement of mothers were correlated negatively with children's Internet addiction. In the other hand, maternal authoritarian control and overprotection were correlated positively with children's Internet addiction. Lastly, children's Internet addiction was significantly different by the types of Internet Use and the reasons for doing internet game. Children's Internet using time was correlated positively with children's Internet addiction.

The results of this study were as follows; * Description of the health status for the pre-school children. 1. The rate of children average vision in both eyes, whose was below 05 by Han Choun Souk are 7.6% (age 4) and 4.8% (age 5). 2. Only 20 4% (age 5) and 30 8% (age 4) of the pre-school children had been tested through the ophthalmic department. 3. The children with a level below 05 (Han Choun Souk test) had been tested only 43% (age 4), and 12% (age 5) 4. There was no particular difficulty in understanding the D.Y.T: 13.9% (age 4), 11.6% (age 5) of the tested children had eye problems. 5. 231 cases were trichiasis, entropin, strabismus, and amblyopia. * The different visual tests. The results of the visual tests between the two groups (parents and health teams) are similar and it shows that parents can easily test at home. * Delivery system of the D.V.T questionnaire The way children's parents received the D.V.T questionnaire were carried out by two ways By mall from the community health center. Send through the institution, for example the kindergarten school The receipt rate of this D.V.T questionnaire sent through the institution was higher than sent by mall.
The purpose of this study was to develop a program of oral health education for children and to furnish basic data contributing to the improvement of children's oral health. In this study, we tried to analyze and discover the types of recognition in parents of children's oral care. With the use of Q-methodology that could systematically and scientifically estimate the subjectivity of humans, 28 parents were collected as a P-sample. 3 general types were discovered. The characteristics of each type were the following: Type 1. "Serious consideration of prevention care type" took a positive attitude to their children's oral care, were knowledgable, and maintained high concern about oral care. They regularly visited dentists for prevention and believed in caries prevention through brushing teeth. They also put high trust in dentists. Type 2. "Disposition by the existing state type" believed that caries could develop even with brushing teeth and could be inherited from parents, Practically, they had a passive attitude to their children's oral care depending on stages and were more concerned with the appearance of dentition than with their children's oral health. Type 3. "Home care-centered type" had less knowledge about children's oral care than the other two types and was careless for teeth prevention. Therefore, they had not intended to participate in the oral health education program.
In this comparison of the relative effects of children's separation from their parents, socio-emotional adjustment was assessed by emotional and behavioral problems and emotional intelligence. Subjects were 502 elementary school children separated from their parents(162 in Yanbian and 340 in Korea) and their caregivers. Data analysis was by frequency, t-test, and multiple regression controlled by gender and grade in school. Caregivers living with children and their parenting efficacy were significant variables for the development of socio-emotional adjustment in Korean-Chinese children in Yanbian, but reasons for parent-child separation, caregivers' psychological and behavioral characteristics, and SES were significant variables for children in Korea. Implications are that regional differences should be considered in understanding and supporting the development of children's socio-emotional adjustment.

This paper examines the relationship between children's English proficiency in grade three and English learning environment and experiences before entering elementary school. In English learning environment and experiences, three influences consisting of children, home environment, and environmental influences of English learning are used to find out which influences contributed to children's English proficiency in grade three of elementary school. The result of this study shows that children with high interest in English have higher proficiency in all language skills reading, writing, listening, and speaking than that of children with low interests. For parents' influences, parents' high interests toward their children's English leaning and high monthly income result in children's high English proficiency. For English environmental influences, children who start at the early age and continue studying English have higher English proficiency.
