  • We report 4 patients who developed change of occlusion which seemed to be related to anterior disc dislocation without reduction, but there was no distinct evidence of condylar destruction or collapse. They experienced sudden occurrence of occlusal change, anterior open bite in 2 patients, lateral CR-CO discrepancy in 1 patient, and anteroposterior CR-CO discrepancy in 1 patient. Also, this report is to find out if there is a relation between sudden occurrence of occlusal change and anterior disc dislocation without reduction.

  • The purpose of this study were to investigate the influence of residents awareness analysis for climate change policy. Nine items of residents' perceptions and opinions were designed from previous forest sector of Daejeon Metropolitan City. 241 questionnaires were obtained from interview survey in Hanbat arboretum in Daejeon. Forest sector were significant differences with socioeconomic variables of local residents. Providing detailed information on climate change and its impact on the local environment brings about greater awareness and better understanding of global warming amongst citizens which would eventually drive the people to give support to policy initiatives.

  • This research is about the six graders' preconceptions in elementary school about a cause of the seasonal change before learning. The result of this research is that the patterns of six graders's preconceptions in elementary school are earth's rotation, earth's revolution, the distance between the earth and the sun and the location factor between the sun and our country, which are mixed up with two more things. Especially many patterns of students explain the seasonal change of our country using the change of location of our country by earth's rotation, the location factor between the earth and the sun and the distance between the earth and the sun by earth's revolution.

  • Lithium-ion batteries are widely used, from lightweight to energy-intensive, from small devices to large ESSs. However, it is sensitive to the surrounding environment and there is a change in performance depending on the temperature change. In this study, the temperature dependence of the charge / discharge characteristics of the battery is shown through simulation and the distribution of the salt concentration in the electrolyte is observed when the sudden temperature change is applied.

  • Understanding and adapting to changes of customer behavior is an important aspect for a company to survive in continuously changing environment. The aim of this paper is to develop a methodology which detects changes of customer behavior automatically from customer profiles and sales data at different time snapshots. For this purpose, we first define three types of changes as emerging pattern, unexpected change and the added / perished rule. Then we develop similarity and difference measures for rule matching to detect all types of change. Finally, the degree of change is evaluated to detect significantly changed rules. Our proposed methodology can evaluate degree of changes as well as detect all kinds of change automatically from different time snapshot data. A case study for evaluation and practical business implications for this methodology are also provided.

  • In this study, the artery's compliance model and the pulsation waveform model was proposed to estimate blood pressure without applying HPF (High Pass Filter) on signal measured by the oscillometric method. The method proposed in the study considered two ways of estimating blood pressure. The first method of estimating blood pressure is by comparing and analyzing changes in pulsation waveform's dicrotic notch region during each cardiac period. The second method is by comparing and analyzing morphological changes in the pulsation waveform during each cardiac period, which occur in response to the change in pressure applied on the cuff. To implement these methods, we proposed the compliance model and the pulsation waveform model of the artery based on hemodynamic theory, and then conducted various simulations. The artery model presented in this study only took artery's compliance into account. Then, a pulsation waveform model was suggested, which uses characteristic changes in the pulsation waveform to estimate blood pressure. In addition, characteristic changes were observed in arterial volume by applying artery's pulsation waveform to the compliance model. The pulsation waveform model was suggested to estimate blood pressure using characteristic changes of the pulsation waveform in the arteries. This model was composed of the sum of sine waves and a Fourier's series in combination form up to 10th harmonics components of the sinusoidal waveform. Then characteristic of arterial volume change was observed by inputting pulsation waveform into the compliance model. The characteristic changes were also observed in the pulsation waveform by mapping the arterial volume change in accordance with applied cuff's pressure change to the pulsation waveform's change according to applied pressure changes by cuff. The systolic and diastolic blood pressures were estimated by applying positional change of pulsation waveform's dicrotic notch region.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary and middle school (grade 5 and 7) students' perceptions of global warming and climate change. A total of 239 students completed opened-form questionnaire consisting of cartoons regarding global warming and climate change. The results showed that are as follows. Elementary and middle school students had low level of perception of global warming and climate change. A majority of students rightly believed that the global warming is related to greenhouse gases, glacier, environmental pollution, etc. Also, Many students had scientific concepts about the cause of global warming while some of the students had misconceptions that destruction of the ozone layer will cause an global warming. We have found that some of the students of elementary and middle school had confused between the cause of global warming and ozone depletions.

  • Recently, extreme climate change has been occurring globally not only in the simple form of temperature increases but also in a wide range of extreme climatic events, such as abnormal drought conditions and frequent typhoons. In addition, climate change is delaying the construction period of concrete structures, increasing related economic losses. Forcing construction projects for completion without considering climate change is leading to concrete quality deterioration, poor quality constructions, and consequent casualties and property damage. Therefore, to address these problems and provide a countermeasure to climate change, the present study selected wind speed, and sunlight exposure time as the most important curing conditions among the climate factors affecting concrete structures and examined their effects on the curing and durability of concrete structures. In addition, for the analysis of the experimental results, this study proposed a process of performance based evaluation (PBE) of concrete strength and durability using a method of Satisfaction Curve (SC) generation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of metacognitive strategy on conceptual acquisition ofvseasonal change and self-efficacy when it was applied to 6th grade elementary students. This study consists of 2 classes, 76 students in the 6th grade of elementary school, which were divided into the experimental group (38) and the control group (38). First, a pre-test was administrated to check students' levels of metacognitive self-regulation and self-efficacy prior to getting planned lessons and then an instruction program was developed based upon the metacognitive instruction model and students' conception. The control group was exposed to traditional methods mainly using the textbook and teacher's guide book. The experimental group employed a metacognitive learning strategy program and activities with metacognitive questionnaires. After the planned lessons, the students were tested with post-tests about the conception of seasonal change and self-efficacy. One month later the students were tested again with another test to determine the continuation effect. The results were as follows: First, the group that used metacognitive conceptual change instruction did better in forming and continuing to maintain the scientific seasonal change conceptions compared to the control group. Second, the high and intermediate group taught by metacognitive conceptual change instruction was higher in the level of self-regulation than the control group. However, it was not verified in the low group. Third, the group which used metacognitive conceptual change instruction showed a higher level of self-efficacy than the control group did.
