Performance Evaluation of Semi-Persistent Scheduling in a Narrowband LTE System for Internet of Things (사물인터넷을 위한 협대역 LTE 시스템에서의 준지속적 스케줄링의 성능 평가)

  • In LTE networks, the base station transmits control information over the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) including scheduling grants, which are used to indicate the resources that the user equipment uses to send data to the base station. Because the size of the PDCCH message and the number of the PDCCH transmissions increase in proportion to the number of user equipments, the overhead of the PDCCH may cause serious network congestion problems in the narrowband LTE (NB-LTE) system. This paper proposes the compact PDCCH information bit allocation to reduce the size of the PDCCH message and evaluates the performance of the semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) in the NB-LTE system. The simulation results show that the SPS can significantly reduce the signaling overhead of the PDCCH and therefore increase the system utilization.

A Study On D-Shortage Control Hyper System Using MRP and JIT (MRP와 JIT를 융합한 D-결품관리 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • This study proposes D- shortage control system which is a convenient tool for cooperative companies to reduce shortages which frequently break out between the manufacturing companies and the cooperative companies. On the ground of theoretical analysis of MRP and JIT system, D- shortage control system sets up a schedule that secures the delivery date by precedent scheduling( D-) comparing with MRP It also syncronizes business, production and release, and builds the pull system comparing with JIT. The factors causing shotages are the scheduling absurdity and the controlling absurdity. The scheduling absurdity can be settled by the calculating required quantity method of MRP and the controlling absurdity can be settled by daily control of business, production and pruchasing fuctions by the pull system of JIT. And the inventory and the WIP can be reduced by the operating of PULL system and by the settlement of D- shortage control practices. The Application of D- shortage control system, therefore, enables the rationalization of logistics and reduces the inventory And it leads to the reinforced competitiveness and the security of subsistence of manufacturer by the cost ruduction, the reduction of financial difficulty, and the insurance of the delivery date.

  • Although the effectiveness of an express train's service is measured in "Total System Time or Cost" units, many cases had used indirect method what based on the distintion by number of passengers in a station or experiential knowledgements. These methods are not guarantee itself as an optimal strategy. Focusing "Total System Time or Cost" directly, this paper investigates the express train service's stop scheduling based on each OD-volume and trip time which mainly affect system time and cost. To do this, we built an IP model which has a binary set presenting express train's stop scheduling as decision variable and suggest a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to find heuristic optimal solution.

  • The DVS(Dynamic Voltage Scaling) technique is the method to reduce the dynamic energy consumption. As using slack times, it extends the execution time of the big load operations by changing the frequency and the voltage of variable voltage processors. Researches, that controlling the energy consumption of the processors and the data transmission among processors by controlling the bandwidth to reduce the energy consumption of the entire system, have been going on. Since operations in multiprocessor systems have the data dependency between processors, however, the DVS techniques devised for single processors are not suitable to improve the energy efficiency of multiprocessor systems. We propose the new scheduling algorithm based on DVS for increasing energy efficiency of multiprocessor systems. The proposed DVS algorithm can improve the energy efficiency of the entire system because it controls frequency and voltages having the data dependency among processors.

  • A gain scheduling approach for the suspension control of a nonlinear MAGLEV System is presented. We show that this technique is ver useful for improving not only performance to the operational disturbances originating aerodynamic force but also robustness to the uncertainty of payload. As a scheduling variable, even though the external disturbance need to be estimated in real time, but the additive measurement is not required to do it. Some simulations show that the gain scheduling control system performs very well comparing with other method using a nonlinear feedback linearization or a fixed gain linear feedback.

  • High-speed Portable Internet system provides 1-3 Mbps data transmission speed to terminals moving up to 60 km/sec. Since High-speed Portable Internet system supports services requiring different QoS, it needs an efficient scheduling method based on those different QoSs. This paper shows the performance comparisons of several different packet scheduling schemes for minimizing the mean delay over the downlink of High-speed Portable Internet system to support the packet data service. Simulation results show that proposed scheme superior to other schemes at side throughput and data loss rate.

  • This paper is concerned with a vehicle routing model to assist in scheduling palletized cargo pickup and delivery so called the pickup and delivery problem with advance requests in a 2-echelon supply-chain system. In this study vehicles is dispatched and routed so that each request is picked up or delivered at its original and to its destination. The model provides point-to-point transportations based on advance requests. The assignment algorithm is developed and designed for using with on-line computers and it immediately provides arrangements to be made at the time requested. This algorithm also provides the best scheduling solutions and alternatives for both to system operators and requesters. According to this algorithm, we developed computer programs and show the sample results.

  • A new technique using a search method which is based on fuzzy multi-criteria function is proposed for GMS(generator maintenance scheduling) in order to consider multi-objective function. Not only minimization of probabilistic production cost but also maximization of system reliability level are considered for fuzzy multi-criteria function. To obtain an optimal solution for generator maintenance scheduling under fuzzy environment, fuzzy multi-criteria relaxation method(fuzzy search method) is used. The practicality and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated by simulation studies for a real size power system model in Korea in 2010.

  • The wireless medium is known to be time-varying which could affect and result to a poor network's performance. As a solution, an opportunistic scheduling and power control algorithm based on IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol is proposed in this paper. The algorithm opportunistically exploits the channel condition for better network performance. Convex optimization problems were also formulated i.e. the overall transmission power of the system is minimized and the "net-utility" of he system is maximized. We have proven that an optimal transmission power vector may exist, satisfying the maximum power and SINR constraints at all receivers, thereby minimizing overall transmission power and maximizing net-utility of the system.

  • This paper addresses a particle swarm optimization-based approach for solving a generating unit maintenance scheduling problem(GMS) with some constraints. We focus on the power system reliability such as reserve ratio better than cost function as the objective function of GMS problem. It is shown that particle swarm optimization-based method is effective in obtaining feasible schedules such as GMS problem related to power system planning and operation. In this paper, we find the optimal solution of the GMS problem within a specific time horizon using particle swarm optimization algorithm. Simple case study with 16-generators system is applicable to the GMS problem. From the result, we can conclude that PSO is enough to look for the optimal solution properly in the generating unit maintenance scheduling problem.
