The purpose of this study was to investigate the fine structural modifications of fibroblasts in the coronal region of inflamed human pulps from carious teeth. Six untreated human teeth with large carious lesions and two normal teeth as control were selected from male and female patients between the ages of 20 and 39. The teeth were divided into 4 groups by light microscopic findings: the normal control group, the chronic inflammatory cell-appeared group, the acute and chronic inflammatory cell-appeared group, and the total necrosis group. All tissues were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde in 0.1M sodium cacodylate buffer at pH 7.4 and 1% osmic acid in same buffer. They were embedded in Epon 812. The ultrathin sections were stained conventionally and examined with a AEI Corynth 500 electron microscope. The results were as follows; 1. The fibroblasts of the normal pulps were almost in a quiescent state. 2. The active and the quiescent fibroblasts were found in the pulps of the chronic inflammatory cell-appeared group. Lymphocytes and plasma cells were also seen scattered among these fibroblasts. 3. In the pulps of the acute and chronic inflammatory cell-appeared group, active, degenerative and necrotic fibroblasts were found in the PMN appeared area. And all the fibroblasts in the fibrosis area were active. In the area of chronic inflammatory cellular infiltration, almost all the fibroblasts were active, but seldom were quiescent fibroblasts observed. Some fibroblasts in the pulps of two teeth had large vacuoles that contained banded collagen fibrils. The phagosomes had small beaded vesicles or large lysosome-like varicosity. In two of the teeth, microorganisms were present and two morphological shapes were identified, a rod and a coccus. 4. Vacuolar, vesicular, lamellar, fibrous and myelin structures were observed in the pulp of the total necrosis group, and cocci were also seen.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinically and histopathologically the effects to the periodontal tissue in rats after Cyclosporin A (CsA) administration and to determine whether there is a relationship between dosage of CsA or blood CsA level and the seventy of gingival overgrowth in rats. Twenty 6-week-old Sprauge-Dawley Fats were randomized into 4groups. The control group received olive oil only and the test group received daily CsA in olive oil via gastric feeding for 6weeks at a 3,10, and 30mg/kg. Rats were weighed to evaluate the systemic effect of drug and stone models were made from alginate impressions of upper and lover anterior region at 2 week interval. On completion of offal CsA administration, blood were collected and blood CsA levels were quantitated by TDxFLx analyzer. Rats were sacrificed an6 their upper and lower jaws were removed together with the surrounding gingiva and soft tissue for light microscopic examination. The results were as follows : 1. The weight gain of GsA-treated rats was much less than of the control group and central incisors were gradually displaced and separated in the test groups. 2. The extensive fibrovascular proliferation and scattered inflammatoy infiltrates in an edematous stroma were observed in enlarged gingiva of CsA-treated rats. 3. The increase in buccolingual, mesiodistal dimension of the anterior teeth and vertical height of the interdental papilla showed dose-dependent manner in CsA-treated rats. 4. Significant positive correlation exists between blood CsA level and the severity of gingival overgrowth in anterior teeth. This result indicates that the severity of gingival enlargement in CsA treated rats is correlated with dosage of CsA administration and blood CsA level.

A capacitive-type touch screen panel (TSP) composed of silver nanowire (AgNW) crossing electrodes and transparent bridge structures was fabricated on a polycarbonate film. The transparent bridge structure was formed with a stack of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) electrodes and SU-8 insulator. The stable and robust continuity of the bridge electrode over the bridge insulator was achieved by making the side-wall slope of the bridge insulator low and depositing the conformal AZO film with atomic layer deposition. With an extended exposure time of photolithography, the lower part of the SU-8 layer around the region uncovered by the photomask can be exposed enough to the UV light scattered from the substrate. This leads to the low side-wall slope of the bridge insulator. The fabricated TSP sample showed a large capacitance change of 22.71% between with and without touching. Our work supplies the technological clue for ensuring long-term reliability to the highly flexible and transparent TSP made by using conventional fabrication processes.
To broaden the understanding of classical Cepheid structure, evolution and atmospheres, we have extended our continuing secret lives of Cepheids program by obtaining XMM/Chandra X-ray observations, and Hubble space telescope (HST) / cosmic origins spectrograph (COS) FUV-UV spectra of the bright, nearby Cepheids Polaris, ${\delta}$ Cep and ${\beta}$ Dor. Previous studies made with the international ultraviolet explorer (IUE) showed a limited number of UV emission lines in Cepheids. The well-known problem presented by scattered light contamination in IUE spectra for bright stars, along with the excellent sensitivity & resolution combination offered by HST/COS, motivated this study, and the spectra obtained were much more rich and complex than we had ever anticipated. Numerous emission lines, indicating $10^4$ K up to ${\sim}3{\times}10^5$ K plasmas, have been observed, showing Cepheids to have complex, dynamic outer atmospheres that also vary with the photospheric pulsation period. The FUV line emissions peak in the phase range ${\varphi}{\approx}0.8-1.0$ and vary by factors as large as $10{\times}$. A more complete picture of Cepheid outer atmospheres is accomplished when the HST/COS results are combined with X-ray observations that we have obtained of the same stars with XMM-Newton & Chandra. The Cepheids detected to date have X-ray luminosities of log $L_X{\approx}28.5-29.1$ ergs/sec, and plasma temperatures in the $2-8{\times}106$ K range. Given the phase-timing of the enhanced emissions, the most plausible explanation is the formation of a pulsation-induced shocks that excite (and heat) the atmospheric plasmas surrounding the photosphere. A pulsation-driven ${\alpha}^2$ equivalent dynamo mechanism is also a viable and interesting alternative. However, the tight phase-space of enhanced emission (peaking near 0.8-1.0 ${\varphi}$) favor the shock heating mechanism hypothesis.

The influences of fluorescence, scattering, and flocculation in random media were interpreted for the scattered fluorescence intensity and wavelength, it has been studied the molecular properties by the spectroscopy of laser induced fluorescence(LIF). The effects of optical properties in scattering media have been found by the optical parameters(${\mu}_s$, ${\mu}_a$, ${\mu}_t$). Flocculation is an important step in many solid-liquid separation processes and is widely used in Photodynamic therapy. The interactions of several colloid particles can come into play which have major effect on the flocculation and LIF process. We measured scattering and fluorescence spectra of the sample in vitro as function of distance from lase source to detector. The value of scattering coefficient ${\mu}_s$ is and ${\beta}$-carotene were measured as larger values(I, ${\delta}$) by means of closer distance from source to detector.
Polarimetric study of light scattering from cometary dust particles can provide us opportunity to decipher their characteristics, such as sizes, structures, compositions of dust grains, etc. Herein, we present the results of our polarimetric study of long-period comet, C/2013 US10 (Catalina), in optical and near-infrared wavelengths which appeared at large phase angle (52.7 degrees) around the mid-December, 2015. We performed polarimetric and spectroscopic observations with HONIR, attached to the 1.5-m telescope at Higashi-Hiroshima Observatory, on UT 2015 December 17-18 and also obtained optical imaging data sets by the Ishigakijima Astronomical Observatory (IAO) and Okayama Astrophysical Observatory (OAO) taken between 2014-2015. By measuring the intensities of gas emission lines with respect to dust continuum and considering transmittance of each filter, we estimated that the percentages of gas contamination are approximately 10 percents in $R_C$-band and 3 percents in $I_C$-band. With these results, we derive the degree of linear polarization scattered solely from dust components in the coma. At this presentation, we will compare the phase-angle dependence of the degree of linear polarization with those of previous archive data in a wide coverage of wavelengths from $R_C$-band to $K_S$-band. Finally, we are supposed to discuss the spatial variations in polarization within the coma.
The ultrastructure of the compound starch granules and the protein bodies of Odaebyeo rice of early matured variety were examined by light microscope and electron microscope. The endosperm cell appealed rectangular or octangular shape on the cross section. The thickness of cell wall containing of membraneous materials was about $0.5\;{\mu}m$ in diameter. The starch cell was filled compactly with globular or oval shaped compound starch granules with the size of $20{\sim}25\;{\mu}m$ in diameter. The compound starch granules were consisted of central core starch granule and concentrical $2{\sim}3$ layers of starch granules. The average thickness of the starch granules were about $5\;{\mu}m$. Most protein bodies were found in the aleurone layer The globular protin bodies were scattered near the compound starch granules and $2.5{\sim}3\;{\mu}m$ in diameter. The protein bodies composed of central electron dense materials and peripheral electron loose materials in limiting membrane.
The pancreatic endocrine cells, glucagon and somatostation, of the Korean tree squirrel. Sciurus vulgais corea, were investigation by means of light and electron microscopic immunohistochemistry using the PAP and protein A-gold techniques. Glucagon-immunoreactive cells were distributed the periphery and occasinonaly central region of the pancreatic islets. Also, isolated cell was found between the pancreatic ancinar cells. The glucagon cells contraine granules with a diameter of 240~320nm and the electron dense core usually surrounded by a halo of less dense granular material. The core of granule was labelled strongly with gold particles. Somatostatin-immunoreactive cells were weakly stained in scattered along the peripheral pancreatic islets and were distributed as singly or small groups with in the pancreatic acinar cells. The somatostatin cells were spherical with a diameter of 250~275nm, moderately electron opaque (Gold particles were mostly demonstrated on the entire granule.

Scientometrics and social network analysis (SNA) measures were used to analyze the international scientific collaboration (ISC) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a period of 10 years (2009-2018). The dataset consists of 19,622 records retrieved from the Scopus database. The mean degree of collaboration 0.95 implied that researchers of AIIMS tend to collaborate domestically (80.29%) and internationally (14.67%). The data exhibits a hyper authorship pattern, and a medium-size research team consists of 4 to 10 authors who contributed a maximum of 62.08% (12,182) publications. 71.97% of research findings are scattered in journal articles. The most preferred journals published 58.55% of medical literature. An undirected collaboration network is constructed in Pajek to study the ISC of AIIMS during the period 2009-2018 which consists of 179 vertices (Vn) and 11,938 edges. The degree centrality (Dc) identified that the United States of America (Dc - 54; CC - 0.99) and United Kingdom (Dc - 41; 0.98) are the most collaborative countries in the whole network as well as the most influential countries. The Louvain community detection method is used to detect influential research groups of AIIMS. The temporal evolution of ISC of AIIMS studied through scientometrics and SNA measures shed light on the structure and properties of ISC networks of AIIMS. It revealed that AIIMS, India has taken keen steps to enrich the quality of research by extending and encouraging the collaboration between institutions and industries at the international level.
LIDAR (LIght Detection And Ranging) is an active remote sensing technology which provides 3D coordinates of the Earth's surface by performing range measurements from the sensor. Early small footprint LIDAR systems recorded multiple discrete returns from the back-scattered energy. Recent advances in LIDAR hardware now make it possible to record full digital waveforms of the returned energy. LIDAR waveform decomposition involves separating the return waveform into a mixture of components which are then used to characterize the original data. The most common statistical mixture model used for this process is the Gaussian mixture. Waveform decomposition plays an important role in LIDAR waveform processing, since the resulting components are expected to represent reflection surfaces within waveform footprints. Hence the decomposition results ultimately affect the interpretation of LIDAR waveform data. Computational requirements in the waveform decomposition process result from two factors; (1) estimation of the number of components in a mixture and the resulting parameter estimates, which are inter-related and cannot be solved separately, and (2) parameter optimization does not have a closed form solution, and thus needs to be solved iteratively. The current state-of-the-art airborne LIDAR system acquires more than 50,000 waveforms per second, so decomposing the enormous number of waveforms is challenging using traditional single processor architecture. To tackle this issue, four parallel LIDAR waveform decomposition algorithms with different work load balancing schemes - (1) no weighting, (2) a decomposition results-based linear weighting, (3) a decomposition results-based squared weighting, and (4) a decomposition time-based linear weighting - were developed and tested with varying number of processors (8-256). The results were compared in terms of efficiency. Overall, the decomposition time-based linear weighting work load balancing approach yielded the best performance among four approaches.
