DNA microarray is currently the most prominent tool for investigating large-scale gene expression data. Different algorithms for measuring gene expression levels from scanned images of microarray experiments may significantly impact the following steps of functional genomic analyses. $Affymetrix^{(R)}$ recently introduced high-density microarrays and new statistical algorithms in Microarray Suit (MAS) version 5.0$^{(R)}$. Very high correlations (0.92 - 0.97) between the new algorithms and the old algorithms (MAS 4.0) across several species and conditions were reported. We found that the column-wise array correlations had a tendency to be much higher than the row-wise gene correlations, which may be much more meaningful in the following higher-order data analyses including clustering and pattern analyses. In this paper, not only the detailed comparison of the two sets of algorithms is illustrated, but the impact of the introducing new algorithms on the further clustering analysis of microarray data and of possible pitfalls in mixing the old and the new algorithms were also described.
PURPOSE. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility of the abutment angle using a blue light scanner. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 0°, 6°, and 10° wax cast abutment dies were fabricated. Each of the silicone impression was produced using the replicable silicone. Each study die was constructed from the prepared replicable stone used for scans. 3-dimensional data was obtained after scanning the prepared study dies for the repeatability by using the blue light scanner. The prepared 3-dimensional data could have the best fit alignment using 3-dimensional software. For reproducibility, each abutment was used as the first reference study die, and then it was scanned five times per each. 3-dimensional software was used to perform the best fit alignment. The data obtained were analyzed using a nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis H test (α=.05), post hoc Mann-Whitney U test, and Bonferroni correction (α=.017). RESULTS. The repeatability of 0°, 6°, and 10° abutments was 3.9, 4.4 and 4.7 ㎛, respectively. Among them, the 0° abutment had the best value while the 10° abutment showed the worst value. There was a statistically significant difference (P<.05). The reproducibility of 0°, 6°, and 10° abutments was 6.1, 5.5, and 5.3 ㎛, respectively. While the 10° abutment showed the best value, the 0° abutment showed the worst value. However, there was no statistically significant difference (P>.05). CONCLUSION. In repeatability, the 0° abutment showed a positive result. In reproducibility, the 10° abutment achieved a positive result.
Three-dimensional body scanners were used for years in the clothing manufacturing fields. The 3D body surface provide essential data to draft patterns for mass customization, virtual fit model, and computerized patternmaking systems. This research proposed the methods of drafting patterns for men's jacket by using three dimensional body scan data. Eight male subjects were scanned, the surface data was flattened. The differentials of the flattened body surface and the jacket draft were measured, and analyzed the regressions. To verify the fit of the patterns, the jacket was constructed by the regression formulae and tested by experts. The fit of the jacket were significantly improved rather than a ready-made suit especially the shoulder areas. This means that the methods that we proposed were good to improve the fit of the garments and could be used effectively to implement mass customization strategies in the apparel retail industry.

They are frequently used today in public places such as street, subway, school or library. Since users can sometimes print documents that contain confidential data using Printer Kiosks, the devices should store and manage the documents securely. In this paper, we identify potential security threats in Printer Kiosks and suggest practical attack scenarios that can take place. To show the feasibility of suggested attack, we analyzed network traffic that were generated by the real Printer Kiosk device. As a result of our analysis, we have found that attackers can access other users' scanned files and access other users' documents from Printer Kiosk's home page. We confirmed that using our attack, we could retrieve other users' personal data.

The many DE based data hiding schemes and the many data hiding schemes based on Histogram shifting are researched in spatial domain. The data hiding scheme based on Histogram shifting have an advantage of low distortion of the stego image. But the capacity is low than other schemes. On the other hands, the DE based data hiding schemes have an advantage of high capacity. But the quality of the stego image is low. In this paper, new data hiding scheme which has the similar capacity but the increased quality of the stego image is proposed. The prediction error is divided into blocks to embed the secret data in this scheme. The prediction errors in the block are scanned before the secret data is embedded. If one prediction error is low than the threshold at least, the block is changed to embed the secret data. Otherwise the secret data is not embedded. The distortion of the stego image is minimized by this method. But the block that the secret data embedded is marked in location map. So the additional information to extract the secret data and recover the cover image is needed.

A Digital X-ray imaging system using Compton backscattering has been developed to obtain a cross-sectional profile and mass loss of corroded lap-splices of aging aircraft from density variation. A slit-type camera was designed to focus on a small scattering volume inside the material, from which the backscattered photons are collected by a collimated scintillator detector for interpretation of material characteristics. The cross section of the lap-joint is scanned by moving the scattering volume through the thickness direction of the specimen. The mass loss of each layer has been estimated from a Compton backscatter A-scan to obtain the thickness of each layer including the aluminum sheet, the corrosion layer and the sealant. Quantitative information such as location and width of planar corrosion in the lap splices of fuselages is obtained by deconvolution using a nonlinear least-square error minimization method(BFGS method): A simple reconstruction model is also introduced to overcome distortion of the Compton backscatter data due to attenuation effects attributed to beam hardening and quantum noise.
In this study, we investigated the feasibility of non-destructive determination of internal quality factors of Fuji apple fruit using near infrared(NIR) reflectance spectroscopy and developed the calibration models. As the reference methods, refractometer, titration and texture analyzer for sugar content, acidity and firmness were used, respectively. Samples were scanned from 1100∼2500nm with InfraAlyzer 500C spectrometer and SESAME software was used for data analysis. A multiple linear regression(MLR) analysis was performed to develop the calibrations. The correlation coefficient(R) and standard error of prediction(SEP) were as follows; 0.91, 0.41$^{\circ}$Brix for sugar content, 0.90, 0.04% for acidity and 0.84, 0.094 kg for firmness, respectively. This study shows that NIR spectroscopy can be used to evaluate the sugar content acidity and firmness of apple fruit with acceptable accuracy.

In this paper a fast non-destructive analytical method to measure various nutrients in the intact tomato---Near infrared Spectrometry NIRs was introduced Using this method the content of some organic acid, vitamin C, reductive sugar, and solid soluble were determined simultaneously. Screen out four wavelengths at 916nm, 1000nm, 1004nm and 832nm to present optimum four optical terms of d$^2$ log(1/R) with second derivative spectra treating data scanned under these wavelengths. The multiple correlation coefficients between these values and those obtained on chemical analysis were 0.983, 0.990, 0.987, and 0.994, respectively, and the standard errors of prediction (SEP) were 0.007, 0.440, 0.037, and 0.057, respectively. These results indicate that NIRs is comparable to chemical methods in both accuracy and precision and is reliable method for determination of nutrients in intact tomato.

This article describes the ultrasonic range sensor for the recognition of the Indoor environment, especially utilizing the multiple reflection properties of the sonar usually ignored as disturbances or noises. In this paper, we endow the ultrasonic range sensor with the active motion using the stepping servomechanism in order to get the multiple reflections with environment objects. Environment features such as target type, distance and azimuth based on the scanned one frame data of that multiple reflection patterns are recognized simultaneously.

Generally, the instrumentation scheme for urban excavation projects consist of a series of tools such as inclinometer piezometer, loadcell, tiltmeter etc. Because almost every equipments are placed along several typical lines, it is impossible to evaluate the whole behavior of structures and adjacent buildings simultaneously. With laser scanning technique developed for surveying, all visible structures are scanned in the form of 3D digital data in a time schedule as planned. It can be analysed effectively the movements for all area affected by excavation even the spots in where no instrumentation tools. Although there are some parts to be refined such as scanning error, proper analysing software, it gives many advantages for realistic instrumentation works in the near future.
