Sensor node (SN) is a crucial part in any remote monitoring system. It is a device designed to monitor the particular changes taking place in its environs. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a system formed by the set of wirelessly connected SNs placed at different geographical locations within a target region. Precise placement of SNs is appreciated, as it affects the efficiency and effectiveness of any WSN. The manual placement of SNs is only feasible for small scale regions. The task of SN placement becomes tedious, when the size of a target region is extremely large and manually unreachable. In this research article, an automated mechanism for fast and precise deployment of SNs in a large scale target region has been proposed. It uses an assembly of rotating cannons to launch the SNs from a moving carrier helicopter. The entire system is synchronized such that the launched SNs accurately land on the pre-computed desired locations (DLs). Simulation results show that the proposed model offers a simple, time efficient and effective technique to place SNs in a large scale target region.
This paper deals with the scale effects of warhead on concrete penetration. We investigated the scale effects using finite element analysis and Young's penetration equation. As the scale of penetration test decreases, the strain rate effects of target increases, and then strength of concrete target increases. This means the residual velocity and penetration depth of warhead decreases as the test model size decreases. Young's penetration equations are transformed with various penetrator mass and scale cases as a function of scale ratio. Penetration distance and residual velocity are not simply changed by the geometric scaling law.
A PSRI (position, scale, and rotation invariant ) feature extraction and automatic target recognition system using a cooperative network and an MLP is proposed. We can extract position invarient features by obtaining the target center using the projection and the moment in preprocessing stage. The scale and rotation invariant features are extracted from the contour projection of the number of edge pixels on each of the concentric circles, which is input to the cooperative network. By extracting the representative PSRI features form the features and their differentiations using max-net and min-net, we can rdduce the number of input neurons of the MLP, and make the resulted automatic target recognition system less sensitive to input variances. Experiments are conduted on various complex images which are shifted, rotated, or scaled, and the results show that the proposed system is very efficient for PSRI feature extractions and automatic target recognitions.
The contact surfaces between mold and target should be in parallel for a proper imprinting process. However, large size of contacting area makes it difficult for both mating surfaces (mold and target planes) to be in all uniform contact with the expected precision level in terms of thickness and position. This is caused by the waviness of mold and target although it is very small relative to the area scale. The gripping force for both mold and target by the vacuum chuck is other major effect to interrupt the uniform contact, which must be avoided in imprinting mechanism. In this study, the cause of non-conformal contact mechanism between mold and target is investigated with the consideration of deformation due to the vacuum gripping for the size $470{\times}370\;mm^2$ LCD panel.
The performance of a multi-head, computerized combination scaling system to automatically identify a group of agricultural products having a total weight within the target range has been optimized to reduce the package cycle time of the merchandise. First, the structure of the scale was modified to enable faster measurement by enhancing the dynamic stability during the process. Second, the high frequency noise in the measured signal was eliminated by a high frequency filter to provide more accurate weight data. Finally, the algorithm to identify a group of products with a total weight within the target range was modified to enable a user to select an optimal number of scales. According to the experimental verifications, this modified system reduced the package cycle time significantly and also was accurate in measuring the total weight of the selected products.
Biocompatible capsules have recently been highlighted as novel delivery platforms of any "materials" (e.g., drug, food, agriculture pesticide) to address current problems of living systems such as humans, animals, and plats in academia and industry for agriculture, biological, biomedical, environmental, food applications. For example, biocompatible alginate capsules were proposed as a delivery platform of biocontrol agents (e.g., bacterial antagonists) for an alternative to antibiotics, which will be a potential strategy in future agriculture. Here, we proposed a new platform based on biocompatible alginate capsules that can control the movements as an active target delivery strategy for various applications including agriculture and biological engineering. We designed and fabricated large scale biocompatible capsules using alginates and custom-made nozzles as well as gelling solutions. To develop the active target delivery platforms, we incorporated the iron oxide nanoparticles in the large scale alginate capsules. It was found that the sizes of large scale alginate capsules could be controlled via various working conditions such as concentrations of alginate solutions and iron oxide nanoparticles. As a proof of concept work, we showed that the iron oxide particles-incorporated large scale alginate capsules could be moved actively by the magnetic fields, which would be a strategy as active target delivery platforms for agriculture and biological engineering (e.g., controlled delivery of agriculture pesticides and biocontrol agents).
본 논문은 표적의 회전, 크기 변화, 이동 변화, 자세변화 등의 기하학적 변환에 강인한 표적 분류 방법을 제안한다. 우선 표적의 회전, 크기변화, 이동 변화에 대해서는 SIFT(Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) 특징 벡터들의 유사도, 스케일비, 오리엔테이션의 범위들을 이용한 CM(Confidence Map)에 기반하여 표적을 분류한다.
Previous OD matrix estimation methods from link traffic counts have focused on the formulation of mathematical model and its solution algorithm. Thereby those methods have assumed that true or real OD is similar to the target OD and paid little attention to the properties of the change of OD structure. Although it is general situation that each OD pair increases or decreases due to significant land use and to large time variation between target OD with real OD, those methods have set unrealistic assumptions that target OD increases or decreases uniformly and that the OD structure does not change. Therefore those methods have showed poor performance of OD estimation in general situation. To cope with the problem. this paper suggests a new concept of OD matrix structure and shows the shortcomings of previous method′s dependancy on target OD matrix. We divide "OD trips" into "OD scale" and "OD structure". Where OD scale is a quantitative magnitude of OD trips and "OD structure" is ordinal OD scale. This paper use the same solution algorithm developed by Baek et al. (2000) for analysing the OD structure. Results of numerical examples show that the performance of the method is better than that of previous methods, while the previous methods have better performance in estimation only when OD trips increase or decrease. In addition to, if OD structure does not change, the results show that the error of estimation is low relatively regardless of the large difference of trips between target OD and real OD. This paper also shows that the model performance on OD structure and on OD trips is low as the number of origins that OD structure is changed increase. From the results we suggest that the change of OD structure can be more important information than the difference between target OD and real OD in OD estimation steps.
The theodolite system consists of two theodolites, a scale bar and a target bu. A measurement accuracy of theodolite system is affected by a measurement distance of each equipment. This study was performed fir measuring an accuracy when the distance from theodolite to scale bar was changed 2~ 6 m on two theodolites distance 3 a The results showed thai the measurement accuracy could be $\pm$0.021 mm when the distance from theodolite to target was 2,3 and 6 n Specially, it was found that the maximum measurement accuracy was 10.017mm on theodolite collimation distance 3m and the distance 4 m of the theodolite and scale bar.
A measurement accuracy of theodolite system may be affected by a measurement environment, a measurement distance change and so on. This study was performed for measuring an accuracy when the height of scale bar is changed 0.05m, 0.5m, 1m and 1.5m under the distance 3m between two theodolites, the distance 4m from the theodolite system to scale bar and the distance 5m from the thodolite system to the horizontal target bar. And we could know that the best height is 0.05m and 1m.
