  • Single crystals of LiNbO3 have found extensive application in electro-optic and nonlinear optic devices. However, laser-induced refartive index inhomogeneities, which have been labeled opical damage impose limits on device optical damage in LiNbO3 is imporved if more than 4.5 rml% MgO is added to the melt The laser damage thrueshold increased as much as 100 times better then that of undoped crystals. The MgO doped cystal has thus been urterlsiv81y studied since then. In the study, Mgo:LiNbOs(MLA) single crystals dopsd with 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0 mol% MgO have been grown by the czocrualski technique. The metls were prepared in the platinum crluible and 15∼20mm diameter crystals were grown with a length of 20∼30mm in a resitance heater. The growth rate was 2.5mm/hr, the rotation speed 15rpn. Before sawing MLN single crystals were annealed for 24 hours under atmosphere at a temperature of 1080℃. After sawing, we have found an annual ring cross section of MNA crystals only in the direction of perpendicilar to the c-axis. Nonuniform dispusion of MgO was pointed out that the cuties of the state of oxide were strongly affected by oxygen partial pressure in.

  • Recently. as the alternatives to preserve environment such as effective usage of wastes or unusable resources are drawing attentions, researches and measures for the two tasks, which are reuse of waste wood and development of eco-friendly materials, are being examined and established in various fields. However, they are still insufficient. Therefore, in this study, for the efficient application of waste woods and eco-friendly effects, mortar was produced using sawdust af the waste wood and mineral material cement for combination, in order to produce inorganic boards using waste woods, which were made when sawing. The present study purposed to analyze the physical and dynamic characteristics of woody cement boards, which were made by modifying water-cement ratio for each wood inclusion rate based on a hardening-accelerator inclusion rate set in previous studies and, based on the findings. to provide basic data about the physical properties of inorganic boards made of waste wood, in order to Produce woody cement boards using waste wood, which has problems in being used in the manufacturing of woody cement boards.

  • Beef carcasses were examined to explore the effects of spinal cord removal and washing on central nervous system tissue (CNST) decontamination of the surface during the slaughtering process. A total of 15 carcasses were split by sawing centrally down the vertebral column and left sides of split carcasses were used for analysis. Samples were collected by swabbing the surface from 4 defined parts on the interior and 4 on the exterior of carcasses from the abattoir and analyzed using an ELISA-based test. The results showed that automatic and manual spray washing decreased CNST contamination, especially on the interior ventral parts of carcass surfaces (p<0.01), but did not decrease CNST on the interior dorsal parts. Increasing washing time to 60 s did not affect the reduction of CNST contamination. Samples following spinal cord removal prior to splitting showed lower calculated levels of "risk material" than the stated limit of detection (0.1%) of the ELISA kit on interior and exterior carcass parts (p<0.01). Therefore, spinal cord removal prior to splitting could be a very effective way to minimize CNST contamination of beef carcasses.

  • We have studied on ozonate water cleaning mechanisms to apply in manufacturing process of 156 mm silicon wafer which is used in the solar cell fabrication. We have analyzed contamination sources on wafer surface which causes poor quality and performance of products in fabrication process, and examined cleaning process using ozonate water to eliminate it. Contamination sources consist of remaining material like organic matter in slurry and detergent and particles in sawing wire. Using this novel technology it is possible for the solar cell wafer to clean with low cost, high performance, and eco-friendly.

  • The present study collected and analyzed the Korean's folk-belief related to Koran traditional costume culture which are handed down from ancestor and are known to present Korean society as of 1990's. The purpose of the present study is to understand emotion and the view of Korean people, and to understand the social roles of the costumes in Koran traditional society more deeply and more comprehensively. The study was conducted by document analysis and interview. The results of the study are summerized as follows: Folk-belief related to spinning(gilssam), sericultural industry and weaving are mostly enduced from the hope for god quality of work and acquisition of good skill of weaving. There has been also a belief hat gilssam has a magic power to easy delivery and fecundity. Most Folk-belief of taboo related to clothing constraction proposed to people pay great care while they are sawing. Some ways of management of clothing has been related to the manners of which are associated with the differentiation between high and low level and predominance of men over women that was originated fro m confucianism. Socks(busun) and shoes are also considered to have magic power to prevent from exorcism and demon of ill health. This study suggests that folk-belief give us the wisdom a guideline and lessons for better life, high quality arts and techniques which are handed down from ancestors. Therefore, folk-beliefs having a great value, non-shaped treasures of traditional culture heritage should be collected as many as possible, recorded, and preserved.

  • This research aimed to study the making of western men's coats in the early 19th century. First of all, the study figured out the concepts and forms of western men's tops in the early 19th century by collecting and categorizing pictures including engravings, paintings and pattern books, and literature data. Second, this research identified the patterns, sewing, and design techniques by examining the pattern books on men's clothing in the early 19th century, and analyzed the preserved costumes to restore the selected models. Third, this research presented historical evidences and patterns after designing a men's tailcoat of the early $19^{th}$ century and checking the fit based on the analyzed forms and design techniques. The research discovered that the analyzed results between the tailcoat forms depicted in literature, pictures and pattern books and preserved costumes were almost identical. From this, it can be assumed that the tailors followed a manual when designing garments during that time given the similarity between historical records and remaining items. In addition, it can be seen that the forms and designing methods of men's clothing in the 19th century were almost similar to that of the modern menswear, despite the differences in producing process.

  • This study was carried out to explore a new application of the by-products sawdust, formed during sawing and mandarin peels which are agricultural by-products. The boards were manufactured by mixing the sawdust and mandarin peels at different mixing ratio and density. The boards were then converted to ceramics by various percentage of resin impregnation and at different carbonization temperatures. As the percentage of resin impregnation increased, the weight loss was decreased; on the other hand, density, linear shrinkage and thickness shrinkage increased. As the carbonization temperature increased, the weight loss was increased and linear thickness shrinkage increased to $1000^{\circ}C$ and the subsequent increase was insufficient. As the percentage of mandarin peels addition increased, the weight loss, linear shrinkage and thickness shrinkage was decreased.

  • A hybrid position/force control scheme to regulate the force and position by dual arms is proposed where two arms are treated as one rm in a kinematic viewpoint. The force error calculated from the information of two force/torque sensors attached to the end of each arm is transferred to minimum configuration space coordinates and then is distributed to total system joint coordinates, The position adjustment at the total con-figuration coordinates is computed based on the effective compliance matrix with respect to total joint coordinates which is obtained by coordinate transformation between the task coordinates and the total joint coordinates. The proposed scheme is applied to sawing task. When the trajectory of the saw is planned to follow a line in a horizontal plane 2 position parameters are to be controlled(i.e., two translational positions) Also a certain level of contact force has to be controlled along the vertical direction(i.e. minus z-direction) not to loose the contact with the object to be sawn. We experimentally show that the performance of the velocity and force response are satisfactory. The proposed hybrid control scheme can be applied to arbitrary two cooperating arm system regardless of their kinematic structure and the number of actuated joints.

  • Many bridges are subject to lateral damage for their girders due to impact by over-height vehicles collision. In this study, the optimum configurations of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) laminates were investigated to repair the laterally damaged prestressed concrete (PS) bridge girders. Experimental and analytical investigations were conducted to study the flexural behavior of 13 half-scale AASHTO type II PS girders under both static and fatigue loading. Lateral impact damage due to vehicle collision was simulated by sawing through the concrete of the bottom flange and slicing through one of the prestressing strands. The damaged concrete was repaired and CFRP systems (longitudinal soffit laminates and evenly spaced transverse U-wraps) were applied to restore the original flexural capacity and mitigate debonding of soffit CFRP longitudinal laminates. In addition to the static load tests for ten girders, three more girders were tested under fatigue loading cycles to investigate the behavior under simulated traffic conditions. Measurements of the applied load, the deflection at five different locations, strains along the cross-section height at mid-span, and multiple strains longitudinally along the bottom soffit were recorded. The study investigated and recommended the proper CFRP repair design in terms of the CFRP longitudinal layers and U-wrapping spacing to obtain flexural capacity improvement and desired failure modes for the repaired girders. Test results showed that with proper detailing, CFRP systems can be designed to restore the lost flexural capacity, sustain the fatigue load cycles, and maintain the desired failure mode.

  • This study was carried out to know the difference of vapor transmission on the thickness of Paulownia wood(Paulownia tomentosa). The behavior of moisture transmission of wood thickness direction is generally estimated by vapor permeability and vapor transmission resistance. In general, Paulownia wood is known to use of inside material for furniture making, because of the excellent ability of vapor adsorption and/or desorption. Quarter sawing Paulownia wood material is prepared and the thickness is 6.0mm, 7.0mm, 8.0mm, 9.0mm, 10.0mm, respectively. The measurement of vapor transmission were conducted by the "cup method" in accordance with JIS(Japanese Industrial Standard) Z-0208. The experiment was made in the condition of 49.8mmHg vapor pressure difference and $40^{circ}C$ at constant temperature. From the experiment results, it was considered that Paulownia wood is very stable on moisture variation and any other material conditions. In this experiment we found that the vapor permeability and vapor permeance was reduced with the increase of wood thickness to vapor direction and vapor transmission resistance and specific vapor transmission resistance was increased with the increase of wood thickness to vapor direction. Besides moisture contents of adsorption and desorption side were about 5 percent and 14 percent, respectively. Mean value was 9.5 percent and about 10 percent in dry oven method. Moisture gradient was reduced with the increase of wood thickness for a small moisture difference of adsorption and desorption side.
