부하예측 외기냉방에 의한 건물에너지 절약에 관한 연구 (A Study on Building Energy Saving using Outdoor Air Cooling by Load Prediction)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a control algorithm for outdoor air cooling based on the prediction of cooling load, and to evaluate the building energy saving using outdoor air cooling. Outdoor air conditions such as temperature, humidity, and solar insolation are predicted using forecasted information provided by the meteorological agency, and the building cooling load is predicted from the obtained outdoor air conditions and building characteristics. The air flow rate induced by outdoor air is determined by considering the predicted cooling loads. To evaluate the energy saving, the benchmark building is modeled and simulated using the TRNSYS program. Energy saving by outdoor air cooling using load prediction is found to be around 10% of the total cooling coil load in all locations of Korea. As the allowable minimum indoor temperature is decreased, the total energy saving is increased and approaches close to that of the conventional enthalpy control.

  • This paper represents the electric energy saving using light control system. Without Light Control System(LCS), it is very hard to classify the amount of electric energy saving for lighting, since it is determined by the end-user's preference in times. Typical LCS has an fixed algorithm to control each light's intensity by ON/Off Control, Step Control, or Dimming Control. We have studied the electric energy saving effect in a LCS equiped building with natural lighting. The electric power consumption at the peak power consumption time with LCS reduced up to 65% of the non-controled case.

IP Network에서 QoS Aware Energy Saving(QAES)을 위한 링크 절약 라우팅의 한 방법 및 특성 (A Strategy of the Link Saving Routing and Its Characteristics for QoS Aware Energy Saving(QAES) in IP Networks)

  • 오늘날 ICT 네트워크에서 에너지 소모는 전체 에너지 소모의 10% 내외로, 가까운 미래에 에너지가 현저하게 증가 할 것으로 예측되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 네트워크 품질을 보장하면서 에너지 절감이 가능한 방법을 검토한다. IP 네트워크에서 처리하는 총 트래픽 량이 일정 값 이하가 될 때, 네트워크 내의 특정 링크를 sleep 상태로 하여, 링크 양단의 NIC(Network Interface Card)에서 소모되는 에너지를 절감시키는 방안이다. 본 논문에서는 sleep 상태로 둘 링크를 최대한 도출하고, 이로 인한 노드의 경로(SPT: Shortest Path Tree)변경이 최소화되도록 한다. 우선 target 링크를 선정하고, 선정된 target 링크가 sleep 상태로 두는 것이 가능한지를 위임/수탁 라우터 기반의 heuristic 라우팅 방안에 의해 결정하는 방법을 제안한다. 위임/수탁 라우터 기반의 heuristic 라우팅 방안에서, 시뮬레이션을 통해 min_used traffic 및 min_path의 입력 유형의 특성을 평가한다. Min_used traffic 입력을 이용한 heuristic 방식이 min_path 입력 방식에 비해 링크 절약 효율은 대체적으로 5% 정도 우수하지만, 각 노드의 SPT의 길이는 반대로 평균 약 0.2홉 정도 증가하고 있다. 그러나 이 두 방식은 random 입력 방식에 비해 링크 절약 효율과 SPT 경로 감소 면에서 상당히 우수하다. 또한 본 알고리즘 수행 중 링크 freezing 방법에 따라 링크 절약 효율이 최대 80% 정도 향상되므로 에너지 절감 효과가 크다. 따라서 본 논문에서 위임/수탁 라우터 기반의 heuristic 라우팅 방안을 적용하여 네트워크 품질 유지하면서 에너지를 절약 할 수 있음을 확인 한다.

  • Recently, home energy management system (HEMS) for power consumption reduction has been widely used and studied. The HEMS performs electric power consumption control for the indoor electric device connected to the HEMS. However, a traditional HEMS is used for passive control method using some particular power saving devices. Disadvantages with this traditional HEMS is that these power saving devices should be newly installed to build HEMS environment instead of existing home appliances. Therefore, an HEMS, which performs with existing home appliances, is needed to prevent additional expenses due to the purchase of state-of-the-art devices. In this paper, an intelligent inference algorithm for EMS at home for non-power saving electronic equipment, called legacy devices, is proposed. The algorithm is based on the adaptive network fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and has a subsystem that notifies retraining schedule to the ANFIS to increase the inference performance. This paper discusses the overview and the architecture of the system, especially in terms of the retraining schedule. In addition, the comparison results show that the proposed algorithm is more accurate than the classic ANFIS-based EMS system.

An Energy Saving Scheme for Multilane-Based High-Speed Ethernet

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme for partially dynamic lane control for energy saving in multilane-based high-speed Ethernet. In this scheme, among the given transmission lanes, at least one lane is always operating, and the remaining lanes are dynamically activated to alleviate the network performance in terms of queuing delay and packet loss in the range of acceptance. The number of active lanes is determined by the decision algorithm based on the information regarding traffic and queue status. The reconciliation sublayer adjusts the transmission lane with the updated number of lanes received from the algorithm, which guarantees no processing delay in the media access control layer, no overhead, and minimal delay of the exchanging control frames. The proposed scheme is simulated in terms of queuing delay, packet loss rate, lane changes, and energy saving using an OPNET simulator. Our results indicate that energy savings of around 55% (or, when the offered load is less than 0.25, a significant additional savings of up to 75%) can be obtained with a queuing delay of less than 1 ms, a packet loss of less than $10^{-4}$, and a control packet exchange time of less than $0.5{\mu}s$ in random traffic.

운전비 절감을 위한 빙축열시스템 냉동기 운전기법 평가 (An Evaluation of Chiller Control Strategy in Ice Storage System for Cost-Saving Operation)

  • This paper presents simulated and experimental test results of optimal control algorithm for an encapsulated ice thermal storage system with full capacity chiller operation. The algorithm finds an optimal combination of a chiller and/or a storage tank operation for the minimum total operation cost through a cycle of charging and discharging. Dynamic programming is used to find the optimal control schedule. The conventional control strategy of chiller-priority is the baseline case for comparing with the optimal control strategy through simulation and experimental test. Simulation shows that operating cost for the optimal control with chiller on-off operation is not so different from that with chiller part load capacity control. As a result from the experimental test, the optimal control operation according to the simulated operation schedule showed about 14 % of cost saving compared with the chiller-priority control.

  • The fuel charge is getting higher in navigation cost. Therefore, shipowners try to find the method for reducing oil consumption. ESS(Energy Saving System) is one of he method. ESS is the system consisted with two inverters, ESS control unit and monitoring system. Two inverters control two main sea water cooling pumps. In the ESS control Unit, the control algorithm finds optimized point to decrease a power consumption of main sea water cooling pumps. Monitoring system observes ESS not to work improperly. ESS is experimented in the laboratory with real condition and analyzed in every view. After experiment, the result of the experiment shows that the control algorithm works correctly and safely. ESS has a plan to be operated in the ship soon. In that case, additional devices are needed to connect ESS with cooling system of the vessel. So the development of addition device is needed and being studied.

  • 다양한 서비스의 활성화로 인한 이동 단말의 사용 시간 및 트래픽의 증가로 인해 배터리로 구동되는 이동 단말의 전력 절감 기술이 주목받고 있다. 본 논문은 4G 기술 중의 하나인 Mobile WiMAX라 불리는 IEEE 802.16m의 전력 절감 기술에 대해서 기술한다. 먼저 IEEE 802.16m의 기초가 되는 IEEE 802.16e 전력 절감 방안과의 차이점 및 기술적 특정을 살펴본다. 이동 단말의 효율적인 전력 관리를 위해 패킷들의 도착 분포 정보를 기반으로 동적 수면 사이클 조절 방안을 제안한다. 제안한 방안을 에너지 절감 측면과 패킷 대기 지연 시간 측면에서 살펴본다.

차량경로일정문제의 발견적 해법 (A Heuristic Algorithm for The Vehicle Routing and Scheduling Problem)

  • This paper deals with a heuristic algorithm for the vehicle routing-scheduling problem to minimize the total travel distance and the total cost. Because the aim of the Clarke-Wright method, one of famous heuristic methods, is to minimize the total travel distance of vehicles, it cannot consider the cost if the cost and the travel distance is not proportional. In the Clarke-Wright method, the route of each vehicle is found by using the saving matrix which is made by an assumption that the vehicle comes back to the starting point. The problem dealt with in the paper, however, does not need the vehicle to come back because each vehicle has its hoping-start-points and hoping-destination-points. Therefore we need a different saving matrix appropriate to this occasion. We propose a method to find an initial solution by applying network simplex method after transforming the vehicle routing-scheduling problem into the minimum cost problem. Moreover, we propose a method to minimize the total travel distance by using the modified saving matrix which is appropriate to no-return occasion and the method for the case of plural types of vehicles and freights.

빌딩 에너지 관리 최적화 알고리즘 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Optimal Control Algorithms for Building Energy Management)

  • Building energy saving is one of the most important issues in these days. Energy saving control strategies should be developed properly to achieve the saving. One of such area we could apply is the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) system. Through the optimal control algorithm for building energy management system (EMS), you can not only save the cost of building energy, but also protect HVAC system components against the unexpected condition. In order to verify the effectiveness of building energy saving, field test was accomplished for several months at 'A' building. And to get the measured data, remote control was used. If the remote control is used in BAS (Building Automation System), control and monitoring can be done for all of the building systems, such as HVAC, power, lighting, security and fire-alarm etc. anywhere any time. Using the remote control, Control and monitoring is possible for the testing system without going there. As the results of field test, we could reduce $5{\sim}10\%$ of the building energy cost.
