극저온의 흡기 온도 조건에서 실린더 내 디젤 연료의 분무 특성 (Spray Characteristics of Diesel Fuel in a Cylinder under Cryogenic Intake Air Temperature Conditions)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of cryogenic intake air temperature on the injected fuel droplet behavior in a compression ignition engine under the different start of energizing timing. To achieve this, the intake air temperatures were changed from -18℃ to 18℃ in steps of 9℃, and the result of fuel evaporation rate, Sauter mean diameter, and equivalence ratio distributions were compared. When the intake air temperature decreased in steps of 9℃, less fuel was evaporated by about 3.33% because the cylinder temperature was decreased. In addition, the evaporated fuel amount was increased with retarding the start of energizing timing because the cylinder temperature raised. However, the difference was decreased according to the retarded start of energizing timing because the cylinder pressure was also increased at the start of fuel injection. The equivalence ratio was reduced by 5.94% with decreasing the intake air temperature. In addition, the ignition delay was expected to longer because of the deteriorated evaporation performance and the reduced cylinder pressure by the low intake air temperature.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the atomization characteristics of 2-phase internal mixing nozzle. The obtained results are considered as the essential information of understanding the spray characteristics from the nozzle exit of an aerated nozzle. In this study, SMD and AMD are mainly measured at the distance of Z=10, 20, 50, 80, 120 and 170mm from the nozzle tip. The liquid flow rate was kept at 1.8g/s and the air feeding pressure was changed from 10kpa to 100kpa increasingly. The analysis of the acquired data was performed by 2-D PDPA system and in order to get the realibility, the number of data used in calculating the SMD & AMD were 10,000 samples.

  • It is reported that during the cold starting, especially in gasoline engine, the engine response and the effect of HC emission can be improved by prompting atomization and reducing the quantity of fuel adhered to the range of injector tip, inlet port, and inlet valve. The purposes of this study are to promote atomization of fuel before air-fuel mixture in the inlet port. In order to achieve its goal, the glow plug is to evaluate the feasibility of for the early fuel evaporator and the spray behavior characteristics of gasoline, injected on the surface of glow plug with room temperature(2$0^{\circ}C$) and high temperature(25$0^{\circ}C$) is to examine. Particle motion analysis system(PMAS) was used to measure the SMD and the dropsize distribution of impinging spray and free spray. The results of this experiment, evaporation rate of impinging spray was higher than that of free spray, and the higher evaporation rate win, the smaller peak dropsize was. Especially, during early spray SMD of impinging spray was still smaller than that of fee spray.

디젤분무에 대한 액체미립화모델들의 영향 (The Influence of Liquid Atomization Models on Diesel Sprays)

  • The present article deals with comparisons of published liquid breakup models for diesel sprays to analyze the influence of breakup models on various spray parameters. The three different models tested in this study are the surface wave instability (Wave) model, the Taylor analogy breakup (TAB) model, and the drop drag model(DDM). The numerical results using these models are compared with several experimental data to assess the prediction capabilities of breakup models. Additional task in this study is to investigate effects of the breakup time constant in the Wave model on the spray parameters because the spray behavior is sensitive to the breakup time constant. It is seen that there is uncertainly about the breakup time constant indicating that the suitable acceptance of the constant is important, and the TAB model generally shows significant under-prediction of Sauter Mean Diameter(SMD). In addition, it may be indicated that differences between the DDM and Wave model are not significant, showing that the DDM may be suitable for air-assisted atomization rather than pressure atomization.

  • 액체로켓엔진 연소실의 연소특성은 인젝터의 성능에 지대한 영향을 받는다. 본 논문은 소형 액체로 켓엔진 인젝터의 분사성능 고찰을 위해 이중모드 위상도플러속도계를 이용하여 분사압력 및 분무의 횡단방향 이동거리 변화에 따라 액적의 속도, Sauter 평균직경, 난류강도와 같은 분무특성 매개변수를 측정한다. 또, Weber 수와 Reynolds 수를 활용하여 인젝터 분무의 미립화 및 난류특성을 규명한다.

고밀도 균일 안개스크린을 위한 에어로졸 유동의 최적 생성조건 (Optimal Conditions of Aerosol Flow Generation for High-density and Uniform Fog Screen)

  • The fog screen is a device projecting the media to the aerosol flow field. As major parameters to generate dense and steady fog screen, shear stress, optical blockage ratio and SMD were obtained result through experiment. The micro droplet was generated by the piezo oscillation element, and the aerosol flow mixed with an air flow was sprayed into the vertical direction from the top of the fog screen through the 280 mm slot. For produce a dense, uniform fog screen, the shear effect, optical blockage ratio and SMD between aerosol and air curtain were measured. The minimum and maximum shear stress conditions were selected and it was confirmed that the optical transmission deviation of the aerosol flow field was small when the aerosol and air curtain flow rates were changed. When the aerosol and air curtain flow power were 18 V (1.51 m/s) and 24 V (2.55 m/s), respectively, under the condition of the minimum shear stress and laminar flow, the optical blockage ratios with the spray length were small, and it produced a most stable and high density uniform fog screen by injecting a constant of $10{\mu}m$ or less.

수치해석을 이용한 가솔린연료 분무 거동특성 연구 (Study on the Behavior Characteristics of Gasoline-Fuel Spray by Using a Numerical Analysis)

  • The focus of this study is placed on the behavior characteristics of gasoline spray under condition field of room temperature and pressure. To analyze the behavior and flow characteristics of injected fuel spray is important in speculation of mixture formation process. Also the exhausted emissions from actual engines can be controlled by the analyzed results. The ${\varphi}$(degree of freedom) and K(energy ratio of particle motion) are selected as the simulation parameter. The factors affect characteristics of spray structure, and the factors are included in the sub-program of the KIVA-II code. In this study, the simulation study by modified KIVA-II code was conducted and the calculated results obtained by the modified KIVA-II code show good agreements with experimental results. As a result, applying the improved TAB model with ${\varphi}$=8 and K=2 to simulation analysis of the KIVA-II code is sufficiently useful for analyzing the macro characteristics in spray structure, such as the spray tip penetration of injected fuel spray.

  • N-헥산과 증류수로 이루어진 비혼화성 액상계에서 교반에 의한 액-액분산을 해석하였다. 교반기는 blade형태가 flat, 60mesh와 40mesh의 금망, 그리고 60mesh금망의 외부에 금속띠를 두른 4가지의 6-bladed turbine 교반기를 사용하였다. 실험결과, 동일한 교반속도에서 유기상의 분산정도와 교반기의 소요동력은 blade형태가 flat>solid edged>60mesh>40mesh의 순서이었으며 유기상의 부피비가 증가할수록 완전분산에 필요한 최소교반속도가 증가되었다. 또한 분산상의 액적의 평균직경은 교반속도의 증가에 따라 감소하였으며 동일한 교반속도에서는 Solid edged$d_{32}$)은 다음과 같이 유기상의 부피비(${\phi}$)와 Weber number($N_{We}$)의 함수로 나타낼 수 있었다.$d_{32}/D=a(1+b{\phi})N_{We}{^{-0.6}}$.

신회유동을 갖는 압력식 분무기의 분무특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Spray Characteristics of the Pressure Swirl Atomizer)

  • In this study, spray characteristics of the pressure swirl atomizer have teen investigated. Four atomizers with the different orifice diameter and five tangential ports with the different inlet number were fabricated. For the purpose of the measurement of the mean drop sine, Malvern particle sizer was used. And also discharge coefficient was measured and spray cone angle was measured by using shadow graphy method. As a result when the injection pressure was increased, mean drop size was decreased. And the dominant factor which influence on the spray characteristics of pressure swirl atomizer was orifice diameter.

흡입유동 중 충돌벽면 근처에서 가솔린 분무특성 (Characteristics of the Gasoline Spray near Impinging Wall in Suction Flow)

  • In port fuel injection system of SI engines, injected fuel is impinged onto the surface of intake valves and port-wall, and then formed the wall flow under the cold start operation. Wall flows entrained into the cylinder result in the unsteady and nonuniform mixture formation. Therefore, the spray impingement to the wall is considered as having negative influences such as lowering combustion efficiency and causing unburned hydrocarbon emissions. This study investigates the spray characteristics of the wall impinging air-assist spray in suction air flow. A PDPA was used to analyze the flow characteristics under the different conditions such as impingement angle and supplied air. Experimental data concerning the impinging sprays has been obtained in the vicinity of the wall. Measured droplets divided into the pre-impinging droplets which denote as the positive normal velocities and post-impinging droplets that describe as the negative normal velocities for the suction flow. Their velocities, size distributions and SMD are comparatively analyzed before and after the impingement.
