  • The Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine concept allows for both NOx and particulate matter to be reduced simultaneously, and it is a promising way to meet the next environmental challenges. Unfortunately, HCCI combustion often increases CO and HC emissions. The development of oxidation catalyst (OC) requires high conversion efficiency for CO and HC at low temperature. Conventional oxidation catalyst technologies may not be able to convert these emissions because of the saturation of active catalytic sites. The OC used in this study was 600 cpsi cordierite. Three kinds of OC with different amounts of Pt and Pd were used. The influence of the space velocity (SV), $H_2O$ and $O_2$ concentration was also studied. All types of OCs were found to have over 90% CO conversion efficiencies at $170^{\circ}C$. When in the presence of water vapor, CO conversion was increased, but $C_3H_8$ conversion was decreased. The performance of the OC was not influenced by initial the HC concentration. The 2Pt/Pd catalyst was better in terms of thermal aging than the Pt-only catalyst. The $LOT_{50}$ of both fresh and aged OC was increased with increasing SV and with the presence of $H_2O$.

  • Ammonia is used primarily as a refrigerant in refrigeration facility and SCR of a plant, and is frequently involved in leakage accidents. This study was conducted by selecting ammonia, a material with a wide influence range when evaluated, as a material with higher vapor pressure and lighter than air. In this study, the influence ranges were computed using KORA(Korea Off-site Risk Assessment supporting tool) with four different environmental factors : ground roughness, sealing, operating temperature, pressure, and leakage hole size. As a result, the difference in the influence range of ground roughness is approximately 4.62 times, while the ammonia storage tank shows a difference in the reduction rate of 0.64 when sealed. The extent of impact increased with increasing leakage depending on storage temperature and pressure, and when storing higher than the saturation vapor pressure, the impact range showed an average growth rate of 3.45 % per 0.1 Mpa($45^{\circ}C$). The influence ranges based on the size of the leakage holes is shown to be proportional to the area of the leakage zone.

  • Thin-film transistors (TFTs) that can be prepared at low temperatures have attracted much attention due to the great potential for flexible electronics. One of the mainstreams in this field is the use of organic semiconductors such as pentacene. But device performance of the organic TFTs is still limited by low field effect mobility or rapidly degraded after exposing to air in many cases. Another approach is amorphous oxide semiconductors. Amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOSs) have exactly attracted considerable attention because AOSs were fabricated at room temperature and used lots of application such as flexible display, electronic paper, large solar cells. Among the various AOSs, a-IGZO was considerable material because it has high mobility and uniform surface and good transparent. The high mobility is attributed to the result of the overlap of spherical s-orbital of the heavy pest-transition metal cations. This study is demonstrated the effect of thickness channel layer from 30nm to 200nm. when the thickness was increased, turn on voltage and subthreshold swing were decreased. a-IGZO TFTs have used a shadow mask to deposit channel and source/drain(S/D). a-IGZO were deposited on SiO2 wafer by rf magnetron sputtering. using power is 150W, working pressure is 3m Torr, and an O2/Ar(2/28 SCCM) atmosphere at room temperature. The electrodes were formed with Electron-beam evaporated Ti(30nm) and Au(70nm) structure. Finally, Al(150nm) as a gate metal was evaporated. TFT devices were heat treated in a furnace at $250^{\circ}C$ in nitrogen atmosphere for an hour. The electrical properties of the TFTs were measured using a probe-station to measure I-V characteristic. TFT whose thickness was 150nm exhibits a good subthreshold swing(S) of 0.72 V/decade and high on-off ratio of 1E+08. Field effect mobility, saturation effect mobility, and threshold voltage were evaluated 7.2, 5.8, 8V respectively.

  • $Ni_{0.4}Zn_{0.4}Cu_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ ferrite was fabricated by solid stat reaction method and sol-gel method. Because of the drawbacks of each method, we combined these two methods together. We proposed and experimentally verified that nanocrystalline ferrite additive was effective on improving the densification behavior and magnetic properties of NiZnCu ferrites for multilayer chip inductors. The initial permeability of the toroidal core Sample with 20 wt% nanocrystalline ferrite increased from 78.1 to 178.2 as annealing temperature is increased from $880^{\circ}C$ to $920^{\circ}C$. The density, shrinkage and saturation magnetization were increased with increasing annealing temperature, which was attributed to the decrease of additive grain size and increase of sintering density.

  • In this paper, we proposed a forest fires prediction and detection system. It could provide a situation of fire prediction and detection methods using context awareness sensor. A fire occurs wide range of sensing a fire in a single camera sensor, it is difficult to detect the occurrence of a fire. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for real-time by using a temperature sensor, humidity, Co2, the flame presence information acquired and comparing the data based on multiple conditions, analyze and determine the weighting according to fire in complex situations. In addition, it is possible to differential management of intensive fire detection and prediction for required dividing the state of fire zone. Therefore we propose an algorithm to determine the prediction and detection from the fire parameters as an temperature, humidity, Co2 and the flame in real-time by using a context awareness sensor and also suggest algorithm that provide the path of fire diffusion and service the secure safety zone prediction.

  • Characteristics of snowfall and snow crystal habits have been investigated in the campaign of Experiment on Snow Storms At Yeongdong (ESSAY) using radiosonde soundings, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), and a digital camera with a magnifier for taking a photograph of snowfall crystals. The analysis period is 6 to 14 February 2014, when the accumulated snowfall amount is 192.8 cm with the longest snowfall duration of 9 days. The synoptic situations are similar to those of the previous studies such as the Low pressure system passing by the far South of the Korean peninsula along with the Siberian High extending to northern Japan, which eventually results in the northeasterly or easterly flows and the long-lasting snowfall episodes in the Yeongdong region. In general, the ice clouds tended to exist below around 2~3 km with the consistent easterly flows, and the winds shifted to northerly~northwesterly above the clouds layer. The snow crystal habits observed in the ESSAY campaign were mainly dendrite, consisting of 70% of the entire habits. The rimed habits were frequently captured when two-layered clouds were observed, probably through the process of freezing of super-cooled droplets on the ice particles. The homogeneous habit such as dendrite was shown in case of shallow clouds with its thickness of below 500 m whereas various habits were captured such as dendrites, rimed dendrites, aggregates of dendrites, plates, rimed plates, etc in the thick cloud with its thickness greater than 1.5 km. The dendrites appeared to be dominant in the condition of cloud top temperature specifically ranging $-12{\sim}-16^{\circ}C$. However, the association of snow crystal habits with temperature and super-saturation in the cloud could not be examined in the current study. Better understandings of characteristics of snow crystal habits would contribute to preventing breakdown accidents such as a greenhouse destruction and collapse of a temporary building due to heavy snowfall, and traffic accidents due to snow-slippery road condition, providing a higher-level weather information of snow quality for skiers participating in the winter sports, and estimating more accurate snowfall amount, location, and duration with the fallspeed of solid precipitation.

  • Mn - Zn Ferrite has physical properties of the high initial permeability, saturation magnetic flux density, and low loss factor as a representative magnetic material of soft ferrites, in addition the mechanical property is excellent as a single crystal. Therefore it is important electronic components and used for VTR Head. Mn - Zn Ferrite single crystals with the diameter 8mm were grown in atmosphere mixed with $O_2$ and Ar gas by the Floating Zone(FZ) method that impurities can not be incorporated to the crystals because of not-using the crucible to put in the melt, and the sharp temperature gradient results from making a focus at one point utilizing the infrared ray emitted from the halogen lamp as a heat source. During the crystal growing, the highest temperature of melting area was maintained to be $1650^{\circ}C$, growth rate and rotation rate were 10 mm/hr, 20 rpm respectively. The phases and the growth directions of crystals were determined from the analysis of X RD patterns, Laue, TEM diffraction patterns and etch pit shapes were observed by the optical microscope through the chemical etching. The corelation of optimum conditions for acquiring the better crystals was found out with the growth rate, the length and diameter of melt at the interface according to the diameter of feed rod, and the patterns of growing interface also studied.

  • The magnetic thin films can be prepared without vacuum process and under the low temperature (<100 $^{\circ}C$) by ferrite plating. We have performed ferrite plating of M $n_{x}$Z $n_{0.22}$F $e_{2.78-x}$ $O_4$(x=0.00~0.08) films and N $i_{x}$Z $n_{0.22}$F $e_{*}$2.78-x/ $O_4$(x=0.00~0.15) films on cover glass at the substrate temperature 90 $^{\circ}C$. The crystal structure of the samples has been identified as a single phase of polycrystal spinel structure by x-ray diffraction technique. The lattice constant in the M $n_{x}$Z $n_{0.22}$F $e_{2.78-x}$ $O_4$films increases but in the N $i_{x}$Z $n_{0.22}$F $e_{*}$2.78-x/ $O_4$films decrease with the composition parameter, x. The saturation magnetization in the M $n_{x}$Z $n_{0.22}$F $e_{2.78-x}$ $O_4$films does not greatly change, in agreement with observations on bulk samples.k samples.k samples.

  • Polycrystalline bismuth- and aluminum- substituted dysporsium and yttrium iron garnet (Bi2R3-xAlyFe5-yO12, R=Dy or Y, $0\leqx\leq3, \; 0\leqy\leq3$) films have been prepared by pyrolysis. The crystallization temperatures, the solubility limit of bismuth ions into the garnet phase, and magnetic and magneto-optic properties of the films have been investigated as a function of bismuth and aluminum concentration. It was found that the crystallization temperatures as a function of bismuth and aluminum concentration. It was found that the crystallization temperatures of these films rapidly decreased as bismuth concentration. It was found that the crystallization temperatures of these films rapidly decreased as bismuth concentration (x) increased up to x=1.5 and then remained temperatures of these films rapidly decreased as bismuth concentration (x) increased up to x=1.5 and then remained unchanged at x>1.5, whereas, showed no changes as aluminum concentration (y) increased up to y=1.0 and then gradually increased at y>1.0. The solubility limit of bismuth ions was x=1.8 when y=0 but increased to x=2.3 when y=1.0. It was demonstrated that the magnetic and magneto-optic properties of the dysprosium iron garnet films could be tailored by bismuth and aluminum substitution suitable for magneto-optic recording as follows. The saturation magnetization and coercivity data obtained for the films indicated that the film composition at which the magnetic compensation temperature became room temperature was y=1.2 when x=1.0. Near this composition the coercivity and the squareness of the magnetic hysteresis loop of the films were several kOe and unit, respectively. The Curie temperatures of the films increased with the increase of x but decreaed with the increase of y, and was 150-$250^{\circ}C$ when x=1.0 and y=0.6-1.4. The Faraday rotation at 633 nm of the films increased as x increased but decreased as y increased, and was 1 deg/$\mu\textrm{m}$ when x=1.0 and y=1.0. Based on the data obtained, the appropriate film composition for magneto-optic recording was estimated as near x=1.0 and y=1.0 or $BiDy_2AlFe_4O_{12}$.
