New OFDM Schemes Robust to Doppler and PAR Effects for Broadband Mobile internet Services via Satellite Transponder

  • 새롭고 효과적인 도플러 효과 보상 기법은 성상도 추정에 기반하며, 이론적 분석과 시뮬레이션 결과에서 알 수 있듯이 영점 성상도를 이용한 변형된 변조방식을 사용해 평균 파워를 감소시킬 수 있다. 제안된 기법은 위성 송수신기에서 고속으로 이동하는 단말로 보내는 파워를 줄여줌으로써 위성 OFDM 에서 매우 효과적으로 신호를 전달할 수 있다.

  • In this paper, design and implementation issues for a network-oriented RF emitter localization system with array antenna are discussed. For hardware, the problem of array mismatch and RF/IF channel mismatch are introduced and the calibration schemes for solving those problems are also provided. For software, it is explained how to overcome the drawback of conventional MUltiple Signal Identification and Classification (MUSIC) algorithm in a point of identifying the number of received signals and problems such as Data Association Problem and Ghost Node Problem in regard to multiple emitter localization are presented with some approaches for getting around those problems. Finally, for implementation, a criterion for arranging each of sensors and a requirement for alignment of array antenna' orientation are also given.

  • The GPS receiver developed by KARI for the satellite launch vehicle should operate under severe dynamic environments such as high acceleration and jerk. Several terrestrial tests including the outdoor centrifuge test are planed in order to verify performances of the GPS receiver before flight. This paper deals with preliminary test results of the GPS receiver using a GPS signal generator before the centrifuge test that is a performance test of the GPS receiver using live GPS satellite signals. Test methods of the GPS receiver for the satellite launch vehicle under high centripetal acceleration and jerk utilizing a GPS signal generator are described. The simulation results are also analyzed in this paper.

  • 이동 통신 및 위성 통신 분야에 있어서 무선 통신 기술 분야는 무선 환경에서 신호를 보내고 받는 기능을 수행하는 중요한 분야이다. 이러한 무선 통신 분야에서 송수신한을 구성하는 송수신 부품은 RF 시스템의 성능을 좌우한다. 따라서 위성 통신 분야에 있어서 신뢰성을 획득하기 위해서는 고집적화와 소형화를 통한 경쟁력 확보가 필수적인데 이를 위한 기술이 MMIC 이다. MMIC란 RF 부품을 설계하고 제작하는 기술로서 본 논문은 MMIC 기술에 대한 소개와 위성 분야에서의 기술적인 동향과 전망을 기술하고 있다.

Performance Analysis of Wide-Area Differential Positioning Based on Regional Navigation Satellite System

  • The position accuracy of the stand-alone Regional Navigation Satellite System (RNSS) users is more than tens of meters because of various error sources in satellite navigation signals. This paper focuses on wide-area differential (WAD) positioning technique, which is already applied in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), in order to improve the position accuracy of RNSS users. According to the simulation results in the very narrow ground network in regional area, the horizontal position error of stand-alone RNSS is about RMS 11.6 m, and that of RNSS with WAD technique, named the WAD-RNSS, is about RMS 2.5 m. The accuracy performance has improved by about 78%.

  • It was proposed and admitted at 9$^{th}$ FERNS Metting that FERNS countries, while recognizing that Loran-C is very important as a back-up for satellite systems, should consider whether the cost-effectiveness of the system could be improved by making use of its communication facilities to inegrate more closely with satellite system, members were requested to give this proposed consideration before the tenth session of the Council (CS 9/8/1 paragph 6.7). For this matter, Korea is planning to demonstrate treasmitting EUROFIX signals from Pohang station (Master of 9930 Chain) during FERNS meetings.

  • This paper presents Power Control and Distribution Unit development of GEO satellite with 3kW power output. The sensing error of bus voltage produce control signal of the shunt switch assembly and battery power converter, and the tolerance of error signals generated decide the stability of proposed system. The dynamic characteristics of main bus according to the load changing and the control logic of FPGA are simulated. In order to verify the proposed design, the simulation and experimental results for solar array shunt switch, battery power converter and bus controller are shown.

Optimized Station to Estimate Atmospheric Integrated Water Vapor Levels Using GNSS Signals and Meteorology Parameters

  • The atmospheric meteorology parameters of the earth, such as temperature, pressure, and humidity, strongly influence the propagation of signals in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs). The propagation delays associated with GNSS signals can be modeled and explained based on the atmospheric temperature, pressure, and humidity, as well as the locations of the satellites and receivers. In this paper, we propose an optimized and simplified low cost GNSS base weather station that can be used to provide a global estimate of the integrated water vapor value. Our algorithm can be used to measure the zenith tropospheric delay based on the measured propagation delays in the received signals. We also present the results of the data measurements performed at our station located in the Tlemcen region of Algeria.

  • A constant envelope multiplexing via constellation tailoring scheme is proposed for flexible power allocation of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals. The proposed scheme is compared with the coherent adaptive subcarrier modulation (CASM) adopted in the L1 band signals of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in terms of power difference and power loss. Analysis of the constellation optimization results on the power difference and power loss show that the proposed scheme outperforms the CASM of the GPS signals in the allowable power difference of less than 0.1 dB.
