The perennial philosophical approach of Sasang Constitutional Medicine (사상체질의학의 영원철학적 접근)

  • Objective The purpose of this study is to reveal the universal truthfulness of Sasang Constitutional Medicine from the perspective of the perennial philosophy and the integral psychology. Methods Aldous Huxley's The perennial philosophy and Ken Wilber's Literature of integral psychology such as A Brief History of Everything was compared with "Gyukchigo(格致藁)" and "Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元)". Also investigated the literature of various countries related to constitution(temperament). Results and Conclusions 1. Historically, there are various constitutional theories, but the constitution that best corresponds to the constitution in the perennial philosophy of Aldous Huxley is Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. The Sasang theory(四象說) and Four element structure(四元構造) of Sasang Constitutional Medicine was confirmed to be the same as AQAL(all quadrants & all levels) of Ken Wilber. 3. The Sasang theory(Four element structure) of Sasang Constitutional Medicine was presented ahead of Ken Wilber's AQAL(all quadrants & all levels), therefore, Sasang Constitutional Medicine has universal truthfulness.

The Study on the Chronical Concept of Etiology in Sasang Constitutional Medicine (SCM) (사상의학(四象醫學)의 병인(病因)에 관(關)한 고찰(考察))

  • 1. Objectives This research was proposed to find out the chronical concept of etiology in Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). 2. Methods The related contents of etiology were selected in Je-Ma Lee's literatures such as "Donguisusebowon-SaSangchobongyun(東醫壽世保元四象草本卷)"(DSS), "Donguisusebowon-GabObon(東醫壽世保元甲午本)"(DGO), " Donguisusebowon-ShinChukbon(東醫壽世保元辛丑本)"(DSC), and the research was written in order ro find out the chronical change of etiologic concept in SCM. 3. Results and Conclusions The chronical concept of etiology in SCM was as follows : There were comments that the cause of diseases was the imbalanced nature and emotion(性情偏急), the fault of human relationship(人事), and alcohol-sex-wealth-power(酒色財權) in DSS, and the imbalanced nature and emotion, exopathogen(外感), and endopathogen(內觸) in DGO In the last, the causes of disease was set to the imbalanced nature and emotion in DSC.

  • Purpose This study is intended to catch the expansion of theory of Sasang Constitutional Medicine through comparison prescription of Sasang-Yihak-Chobonguen with prescription of Dongyi-Soose-Bowon Method I studied the archive of prescription and medicines concerned in the Sasang-Yihak- Chobonguen with Dongyi-Soose-Bowon Result and conclusion 1. The base of theory on prescription of Sasang-Yihak-Chobonguen is based on Naesang -oigam theory but the base of theory on prescription of Dongyi-Soose-Bowon is based on Pyoribyung theory of Sasang constitutional Medicine. 2. Medicines are confused in prescription of Sasang-Yihak-Chobonguen but medicines are not confused in prescription.

Objectives We analyze Doctor-Patient Relationship in anthropological medicine, medical sociology Oriental Medicine and find out solutions about problems of Modern Medicine which are dehumanized through the meaning of Doctor-Patient Relationship in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Methods We consider various studies which are related with doctor-patient relationship from models of the Doctor-Patient Relationship, anthropological medicine, medical sociology and Oriental Medicine. And we compare and analyze Sasang Constitutional Medicine's meaning of doctor and patient through Sasang Constitutional Medicine's view of treatment and philosophy. 3. Results and Conclusions 1) In various studies, Doctor-Patient Relationship have been dualistic perspective which is divided into doctor and patient, and lay emphasis on relationship between them. 2) In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, anyone might be a patient because they are human being, anyone might be a doctor as cure their own disease. In other words, doctor and patient are not separated but united. A point of regarding human is the core of illness and cure can present new direction that solves problems of dualistic perspective Modern Medicine.
