  • By the increasing concern about Sasang Constitution Medicine, its practical use is considered very important in disease prevention and medical treatment. However, the method of constitution classification is depending on the doctor's clinical trials because of the lack of the objective test criteria. This study is trying to improve the objectiveness of diagnosis using a new statistical method, decision tree. Decision tree method-a classification technique in the statistical analysis- was used to analyze the result of QSCCII instead of using discriminant analysis. As a result, 16 among 121 QSCCII questions was selected as important questions and 21 terminal nodes was built to classify the constitution. Using only 16 questions shown in the result of decision tree, we can diagnose and interpret the constitution easily and effectively.

  • 1. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the growth pattern according to Sasang Constitution. 2. Methods: One hundred forty seven students in the first grade of high school were classified into three groups(So-yangin, So-eumin, Tae-eumin) by QSCC II. We obtained the growth distance curve and growth rate, annual increment based on the Health Record according to Sasang Constitution. Health Record ranged from the first grade of the elementary school to the first grade of high school. And we calculated the Body mass index(BMI) and Mid-parential height(MPH). 3. Results: In case of Male, So-eumin and Tae-eumin showed linear growth patterns, but So-yangin showed rapid growth from 13 to 14. In case of Female, all of the groups showed similar growth pattern. But Tae-eumin showed a more growth from 8 to 9 than So-yangin groups. 4. Conclusions: Growth Pattern seemed to be different according to Sasang Constitution.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between the constitution of Sasang and the bee venom hypersensitive reaction, as well as the hypersensitive reaction occurrence ratio between males and females, for patients treated with sweet bee venom (SBV) and who had undergone an examination of the constitution of the Sasang. Methods: All 81 patients enrolled in the study were treated with SBV and underwent an examination of the constitution of Sasang from January 2010 to July 2012. We divided them into two groups for the hypersensitive reaction and no response and compared the distributions of the Sasang-constitution types for the two groups as well as the hypersensitive reaction occurrence ratio between males and females. Results: No significant differences were found between the hypersensitive-reaction group and the no-response group (p = 0.390), but the hypersensitive-reaction occurrence ratio was statistically higher in females than in males (p = 0.001). Conclusions: Hypersensitive reactions do not seem to be related to the Sasang-constitution types, but the possibility of hypersensitive reactions among females seems to be higher than it is among males.

  • Objectives: Though Sasang Constitution denotes a temperamental personality, the differences in temperament affect pathological vulnerability. The purpose of this study is to establish the criteria based on differences in response patterns of S-HTP test according to the Sasang Constitution in the normal group. Methods: The S-HTP test was administered to 153 students who were tested with the Sasang Constitution Analysis Tool (SCAT). Excluding 10 students, only 143 students' data were was used in this study. The 143 students were classified into four groups by SCAT. The degree of psychology was determined by S-HTP test and the rating scale was developed by two specialists. These data were analyzed by ANOVA with IBM SPSS windows 22.0. Results: The S-HTP test showed significant differences in line and shape and the relationship between each picture, window of house, and the size and root of the tree with regard to the Sasang Constitution. Conclusions: Sasang Constitution showed no differences in S-HTP test, which is influenced by the acquired personality rather than innate personality.
