This study examined the coastal sand dune vegetation before and after the construction of an embankment on Anmado Island in order to compare vegetation in relation to the development of islands. A total of 24 species distributed on the sand dunes. 18 species were found to be in common before and after the construction of the embankment, which included Vitex rotundifolia, Imperata cylindrica var. koenigii, Zoysia sinica, etc. The species which were not found in this survey included Rumex japonicus, Setaria viridis, Portulaca oleracea, Artemisia japonica, Poiygonum aviculare, etc, and new species included Arena fatua, Carex boottiana, Lycium chinense, Leonurus sibiricus, Torilis japonica, Solanum carolinense, etc. The washing away of sand brought about the changes in habitat and the increase in naturalized plants, which included Oenothera odorata, Lepidium apetalum, Bidens bipinnata, Erigeron canadensis, Datura stramonium, Xanthium strumarium, Arena fatua, Solanum carolinense etc. In addition, the disturbance to this habitat led to the changes in vegetation. The main plant communities in the surveyed site were classified as Vitex rotundifolia-Imperata cylindrica var. koenigil community, Zoysia sinica-Calystegia soldanella community and Messerschmidia sibirica community. The sand dune vegetation on Anmado Island changed with regard to the community and the composition of species after the construction of the embankment, due to the sand being severely eroded. While Vitex rotundifolia community and Commelina communis community were found before the construction of the embankment, they were replaced by Vitex rotundifolia-Imperata cylindrica var. koenigii community, Zoysia sinica-Calystegia soldanella community and Messerschmidia sibirica community, after the construction of the embankment.
The purpose of this thesis was to re-examine the utopian socialism of George Sand. In brief, her socialism is Christian socialism. She was heavily influenced by Leroux and Ramennais who insisted on Christian socialism at the time. This was socialism that differed from other utopian socialists of the time such as Saint Simon and Fourier. In addition, the socialism of Sand was similar to communism that was popular at the time. We can see in many writings portraying Sand as a Communist. Her novels were also written to spread her communicative ideas. However, the Communism of Sand is different from that of Marx. In this thesis, her novels, her letters, and her political pamphlets will be analyzed in comparison with Marxism in three ways. 1. If Marx's communism justified violence, her ideology is based on nonviolence. 2. Sand's Communism asserts equality for workers and capitalists. She says that if it is not the equality for all, we are not qualified to argue. 3. Finally, her Communism is based entirely on Christian values, love and solidarity.
In this study, the cone tip resistances of cemented sand are measured by performing a series of miniature cone penetration tests in large calibration chamber, and the relations with constrained modulus, unconfined compressive strength, and shear strength of cemented sand are suggested. Experimental results show that both the cone tip resistance and constrained modulus of sand increase with increasing cementation effect as well as relative density and confining stress. However, it is observed that the relative density and confining stress have more significant influence on cone tip resistance than constrained modulus of cemented sand. Since the cone penetration into the ground induces the damage of cementation, the cone tip resistance can't properly reflect the cementation effect of sand. An analysis based on the constrained modulus shows that the measured cone tip resistance underestimates the deformation modulus of cemented sand by about $70{\sim}85%$. In addition, this study establishes various relationships among the above soil properties from the regression analysis.
In this study, the relations of cone tip resistances (qc) and DMT indices of cemented sand are analyzed from a series of calibration chamber tests. The experimental results show that, with increasing the cementation level, three DMT indices also increase. The CPT and DMT do not appear to properly reflect the cementation effect of sand, since the penetration induces the damage of cementation. Nevertheless, the DMT is more sensitive to deformation characteristics of cemented sand than CPT. It is also observed that the $E_D/q_c$ ratio of cemented sand is larger than that of uncemented sand. However, the $K_D-q_c/{\sigma}_v'$ relation is independant of cementation, unlike the result of previous study. In addition, this study evaluates the constrained modulus and cohesion intercept of cemented sand using the relation between cone resistance and dilatometer constrained modulus ($M_D$).
Recently, interest grew on the quality of aggregates following the diminution of primary resources from river as to grow construction demand and the low grade of nature sand like sea sand. following, need is to diversify the supply sources of fine aggregates which are excessively relying on sea sand and urgency is to find as soon as possible aggregate resources that can substitute sea sand. On the other hand, various fine aggregates we utilized to produce concrete in the domestic construction fields. However, few studies have been systematically investigated on the effects of such fine aggregates on concrete properties. Therefore, this study examined the effects of comparatively widely used fine aggregates in the domestic construction fields on the shrinkage, durability and watertightness of concrete. Results revealed that drying shrinkage increases, and durability and watertightness degrades for concrete using crushed sand than natural fine aggregates like sea sand and river sand. Especially, the use of crushed sand exhibiting bad grain shape and grade was larger adverse effect on the quality of concrete. In addition, appropriate adjustment of the grain shape and grade during the blending of crushed sand exhibiting bad grain shape and grade with natural aggregates appeared to enhance the shrinkage and durability of concrete.
In this study, in order to clarify the effect of the direction of cyclic shear on the post-earthquake settlement the multi-directional shear tests were carried out for Toyoura Japan standard sand, Genkai natural sand, Kaolinite and the Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GBFS). The diameter and the height of the specimen are 75 mm and 20 mm, respectively. In a series of tests, the number of strain cycles was adjusted as n=5, 20, 30, 100, 200 and the shear strain amplitudes were varied from 0.1% to 1.0%. The relative densities of each samples were also adjusted as Dr=50, 60 and 70%. From the test results for Toyoura sand and GBFS, it is clarified that the post-earthquake settlement is relatively large at the small relative density and becomes large with the shear strain amplitude. When the influence of difference on the direction of cyclic shear decreases, the post-earthquake settlement strain for Toyoura sand is converged to a constant value, but the GBFS increases with the number of strain cycles. In addition, the post-earthquake settlement is in the order of Kaolinite > Toyoura sand > Genkai sand > GBFS.
Reducing industrial waste and improving the atmospheric environment recently have emerged as important tasks for the casting industry. Various types of artificial sand that can replace natural sand have been developed and used to solve problems that arise with the use of conventional foundry sand and to improve the foundry environment. However, only limited physical properties provided by overseas suppliers are known and in-depth comparative analyses with existing natural sand are lacking. For the design of the casting process, a wide range of thermal properties must be secured not only at room temperature but also at high temperatures. In addition, it is important to compare and analyze the differences in thermal properties between existing natural and artificial sand because changes in thermal properties require changes in the design of the casting method. In this study, the thermal behavior of the mold was analyzed through a thermal expansion test of mold blocks for natural and artificial sand., To this end, a thermal property test to evaluate thermal conductivity was performed by determining a temperature range. The results of the experiment, revealed that the thermal conductivity was 5-40% higher in artificial sand than in natural sand, and the coefficient of thermal expansion was about 15% lower for artificial sand. However, there was not a significant difference in specific heat regardless of the composition.
In this work, the effect of the addition of Aerosil 200, an insulating resin applied in many industries, on the water absorption of cement plast mixture has been experimentally evaluated. First, the preparation stages of cement plast mixture was evaluated based on corresponding standards and then, the effect of the addition of Aerosil 200 nanoparticles (NPs) to cement plast mixtures with sand weight percentage range of 0-0.1% on the variation of water absorption properties was evaluated based on National Standard Institution of Iran 20185 for Concrete Flooring Blocks - Requirements and Test Procedures. Based on the obtained results, it could be found that excessive addition of NPs did not affect the physical properties of the final product. Water absorption percentage was increased in the weight percentage of cement. By the increase of the amount of Aerosil 200 NPs in the prepared cement plast mixture, the percentage of water absorption in weight percentage of sand was decreased. Cement plast with NPs presented significantly lower water absorption than that without NPs.

This study has shown the tendency to enhance Sand Flux, a device of separating screening the foreign matter, for the recycling of construction waste possible to improve the quality of wet type production system meaningfully as part of research. As a result of experiment on the basic material properties, this study had a tendency to improve the quality and performance significantly in case of absolute surface dried density, 0.08mm sieve throughput, volume of clay lumps, and content of organic foreign matter. In addition, as a result of examining the quality characteristics of mortar, this study has shown the tendency that the flow and compressive strength more increased than the mortar using RS-II by utilizing RS-VI recycled sand produced finally through the device Sand Flux. As for the shrinkage properties, this study has shown the character the generation rate of crack of mortar using RS-IV recycled sand produced finally through the device Sand Flux.
At present, there are several problems related with sand mat which is used as a way to accelerate consolidation settlement, to act like an underground drainage layer and to increase trafficability simultaneously. First of all, the unbalance of the demand and supply of sand is one of the biggest problems, which causes not only price rise but also delay of the term of the total construction work. Secondly, the damage of ecosystem and scenery is triggered by thoughtless sand dredging or mining. So, the need that sand mat should be replaced with a new environmentally friendly material has been increased. Fiber mat may be one of the proper materials that suits the need. Therefore, we intended to compare the drainage properties of sand mat with those of fiber mat by experimental model tests. On the basis of the test results, fiber mat took shorter period of consolidation than sand mat and the amount of settlement in the farmer showed a little bit bigger than in the latter. As a conclusion, the substitutability of sand mat with fiber mat could be placed highly in view of drainage efficiency. Furthermore, when fiber mat is used, it has an advantage that spoiled soil of the construction site or nearby site can be used for the purpose of increasing trafficability in addition to a role of drainage layer.
