Although it is suspected that the foreign body sensation on the pharyngoesophageal region is caused by motility disturbance of upper esophageal sphincter, its pathophysiology is not yet clear. Esophageal manometry has become an important diagnostic tool in the evaluation of esophageal motor disorders such as dysfunction of upper esophageal sphincter. Intraluminal esophageal pressures were measured by perfusion manometry in fifteen patients with foreign body sensation on the pharyngoesophageal region and in twenty six controls. In upper esophageal sphincter, mean value of resting pressure of the patients by rapid pull-through technique was 45,9\ulcorner 15.6mmHg and 80.9\ulcorner9.7mmHg in the controls. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant. The distance from nostril to sphincter, length of sphincter, and resting pressure by station pull-through technique were not significantly different. The amplitude of esophageal peristalsis in the patients was reduced significantly at the level of the upper, mid and lower esophagus. The wave duration of the patients was reduced significantly at the level the upper and mid esophagus. The speed showed no difference between two groups. Length and resting pressure of lower esophageal sphincter revealed almost same values in two groups.
Purpose: To evaluate the precision of measurements of distances and angle in the cross-sectional views of linear tomogram of panorama and to assess the technique for visualizing the mandibular canal. Methods: Ten dry mandibles were radiographically examined with 3 continuous cross-sectional views of linear tomogram of panorama and 4 continuous computed tomograms. The distance between the superior border of canal and alveolar crest and the bucco-lingual width of alveolar bone at the level of the superior border of canal and the angle between the two lines above were measured. Measurements were performed by radiologist and implantologist group and compared with measurements on computed radiograms of the same areas. Results: The measurements differences for the distance of alveolar bone height between in panorama and in CT showed 0.9 mm±0.6 mm by radiologists and 1.3mm±0.8mm by implantologists. There was no statistically significant difference between two groups' measurements. The differences in measurements for the distance of alveolar bone width between in panorama and in CT showed 0.5mm±0.8mm by radiologists and 2.5mm±1.4 mm by implantologists. There was significant difference (P<0.05) between two groups' measurements. The average bucco-lingual inclination of alveolar bone above mandibular canal was average 95.8° in CT. The difference of measurements between two groups was average 1±0.9°. Three cross-sectional views of panorama could show that the mandibular canal crosses antero-lingually and slopes inferiorly from the posterior segment of the mandible. Conclusions: The measurements in the linear tomogram of panorama by radiologists gave the accurate values of the distances and the angle compared with the values in computed tomograms.
This paper is proposed structure which it sees currently the problem point which it follows in the independent space for work which the members who do a same work from the environment which is to fall tile at distance, therefore the MPLS based VPN necessary to follow, it forms the small-scale group which is closed again with the CUG(Closed User Group) it will be able to own jointly information to present a structure, the individual small-scale groups are closed from outside and the group members are the CUG authentication Process for the security maintenance the model which is possible.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of digital models fabricated by dental scannable stone. Methods: Twenty same cases of stone models(maxillary full arch) were manufactured. Intercanine distance, intermolar distance, two dental arch lengths(right, left), two diagonal of dental arch lengths(right, left) were measured for comparison. Each of ten stone models were measured by digital vernier calipers and scanned by dental scanner. Ten digital models were measured by CAD program. The mean(SDs) values were compared by a Mann-Whitney U test(${\alpha}$=0.05). Results: No statistically significant differences between the two groups were found at intermolar distance, dental arch length(right)(p>0.05). However, intercanine distance, dental arch length(left) and two diagonal of dental arch lengths(right, left) were statistically significant(p<0.05). Conclusion: Stone models fabricated by dental scannable stone showed larger than digital models.
In this study, we objectively determined whether the ReSTOR as a multifocal IOL (intraocular lens) has a multifocal function compared to the IQ as a monofocal IOL in vivo by OQAS (Optical Quality Analysis System). Eighteen patients who had cataract surgery with implantation of ReSTOR (27 eyes) and 15 patients with IQ (21 eyes), were included inthis study. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA)and distance corrected near visual acuity (DCNVA) were measured. After setting the artificial pupil size to 3 mm, we performed 'Optical quality'. We inputted defocus diopters of (objective spherical refraction)(far), (objective spherical refraction-1.25 D)(intermediate),(objective spherical refraction-2.5 D)(near), and (objective spherical refraction-3.5 D)(very near) into 'selected spherical refraction' simulating the optical quality at far, intermediate, and near distance. We changed the pupil size to 5 mm and repeated the same measurements. The UCDVA and CDVA did not show significant differences between the 2 groups. But, the UCNVA and DCNVA of the ReSTOR group were better than those of the IQ group (p=0.000, p=0.000). For 3 mm pupil, at far distance, modulation transfer function (MTF) cut off and point spread function (PSF) width at 50% of ReSTOR were worse than those of IQ (p=0.039, p=0.020). At intermediate distance, MTF cut off, Strehl ratio and PSF width at 50% of ReSTOR were worse than those of IQ (p=0.001, p=0.001, p=0.000). At near distance, MTF cut off of ReSTOR was worse than that of IQ (p=0.033). At very near distance, MTF cut off and Strehl ratio of ReSTOR were worse than those of IQ (p=0.002, p=0.002), but PSF width at 50% of ReSTOR was better than that of IQ. For 5 mm pupil, most parameters at each distance, there was no significant difference between the 2 groups. Only PSF width at 50% of ReSTOR were worse than those of IQ at intermediate distance (p=0.013). It was impossible to show the multifocal function of ReSTOR compared to the IQ byOQAS.
In case of segmental injury of trachea, the primary repair is very difficult, because the trachea is fixed in place without movability from the surrounding tissue. In addition to special anatomical situation of trachea, any ideal artificial prosthesis for tracheal replacement is not still appeared. Many authors proposed several procedures for the tracheal repair, but satisfactory results were few. Among the proposed procedures end to end anastomosis of trachea was noted superior when both ends of trachea could be approximated by mobilization of upper and lower injured trachea. The author's experiment was designed to determine the effect about decreased tension on trachea when the hyoid bone was released downward from the surrounding muscular structures. The experimental dogs were divided into two groups, suprahyoid releasing group (SH R) and control group of intact hyoid. SH R group was subdivided into two groups accord ing to he degree of tension. The experimental results were as follow; 1. SH R group: In view of X-ray, the distance between the angle of mandible and the displaced hyoid bone was lengthened downward. And it's range was from 1.3cm (38%) minimally to 2.7cm(108%) maximally. 2. Control group: The distance between the angle of mandible and hyoid was same in both pre and postoperation. As the result of this experiment study, the suprahyoid release technique seems to be the efficient method that enable of release the trachea maximally. And it should be expected that the SH R technique is applicable clinically.
Goosegrass [Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn] has been a nuisance to growers in Malaysia due to its increased resistance to commercial herbicides, rapid growth and dissemination, and interference with agricultural practices. In the course of developing an apt integrated management to control goosegrass, more information of this weed is needed. The aim of this study was to look into variations among the goosegrass ecotypes sampled throughout Malaysia from the aspects of genotype and phenotype. Sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) markers were employed in investigating the genetic diversity and relationships among the 18 goosegrass ecotypes. Consequently, 5 primer combinations amplified 13 fragments with the polymorphism rate of 69.23%. At 74% similarity, the ecotypes were clustered into 6 groups. Phenotypic variability of the goosegrass ecotypes was assessed by observing their morphology, growth and seed traits. Goosegrass ecotypes were sorted into 3 major groups at the genetic distance (DIST) of 0.37. Concurrences of the evaluated genetic distance, ecotypes with the closest and most distant relationships were assembled together in Group I which showed high variation even among ecotypes in the same group. Results obtained thus implied high molecular and morphological variations of the goosegrass ecotypes in Malaysia.
Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the first branch of the bladder meridian (FBBM) as determined by the proportional bone measurement method (PBMM), to the line formed by the erector spinae muscle group, and to establish an academic basis for selection of acupuncture points and needling. Methods: Sixty participants were divided into 3 groups based on body mass index (BMI) and into 2 groups based on waist/height ratios. The distance from the midline of the spine to the first branch of the bladder meridian with PBMM (DFBBM), and the distance from the midline of the spine to the most elevated fleshy region of the erector spinae (DMEFR), at the same level as the inferior border of the spinous processes of L1-L5, were measured. The DFBBM and the 5 DMEFRs were then analyzed according to BMI and the waist/height ratio. Results: DFBBM was statistically different from DMEFR in all back-shu points in the lumbar region. DFBBM was not significantly different from DMEFR in the groups with a high BMI or waist/height ratio. However, there was a statistical difference in the groups with a low or moderate BMI or low waist/height ratio. Conclusion: Since the location of the most elevated fleshy region of the erector spinae does not coincide with the location of the FBBM, the selection of back-shu points in the lumbar region must be performed precisely by PBMM.
This study characterized the genetic variations of 13 populations of Asplenium antiquum and its relative species using randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. A total 88 scorable RAPD bands were generated by the 12 random oligo primers and were analyzed by Nei and Li's genetic distance. High genetic variability was detected between A. antiquum and A. nidus, with the range from 0.568 to 0.682. And slightly low genetic variations showed within the populations of same species. Seven populations of A. antiquum showed slight differences (0.000-0.216), and five populations of A. nidus showed similar low genetic variations (0.114 to 0.171). Two individuals from Sup-seom Island which are growing in might be the regenerated one from abroad. A. antiquum were clustered as two groups (Group I, Group II) by UPGMA phenogram. And five populations of A. nidus were clustered as two groups correlated with geographical distribution. The RAPD data was very useful to define the genetic variations and to discuss the phylogenetic relationships among A. antiquum and the related species..
The purpose of this study was to analyze 'the natural groupings' of subjects in order to classify highly similar somatotype for clothing construction. The sample for the study was drawn randomly out of senior high school boys in Seoul urban area. The sample size was 425 boys between age 16 and 18. Cluster analysis was more concerned with finding the hierarchical structure of subjects by three dimensional distance of stature. bust girth and sleeve length. The groups forming a partition can be subdivided into 5 and 6 sets by the hierarchical tree of the given subjects. Ward's Minimum Variance Method was applied after extraction of distance matrix by the Standardized Euclidean Distance. All of the above data was analyzed by the computer installed at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. The major findings, take for instance, of 16 age group can be summarized as follows. The results of cluster analysis of this study: 1. Cluster 1 (32 persons means $18.29\%$ of the total) is characterized with smaller bust girth than that of cluster 5, but stature and sleeve length of the cluster 1 are the largest group. 2. Cluster 2 (18 Persons means $10.29\%$ of the total) is characterized with the group of the smallest stature and sleeve length, but bust girth larger than that of cluster 3. 3. Cluster 3(35persons means $20\%$ of the total) is classified with the smallest group of all the stature, bust girth and sleeve length. 4. Cluster 4(60 persons means $34.29\%$ of the total) is grouped with the same value of sleeve length with the mean value of 16 age group, but the stature and bust girth is smaller than the mean value of this age group. 5. Cluster 5(30 persons means $17.14\%$ of the total) is characterized with smaller stature than that of cluster 1, and with larger bust girth than that of cluster 1, but with the same value of the sleeve length with the mean value of the 16 age group.
