A specific anthropomorphic mannequin (SAM) model was used to investigate the relation between local specific absorption rate (SAR) and head size. The model was scaled to 80 to 100% sized models at intervals of 5%. We assumed that the shell of the SAM model has the same properties as the head-equivalent tissue. Five handsets with a monopole antenna operating at 835 MHz were placed in the approximate cheek position against the scaled SAM models. The handsets had different antenna lengths, antenna positions, body sizes, and external materials. SAR distributions in the scaled SAM models were computed using the finite-difference time-domain method. We found that a larger head causes a distinct increase in the spatial peak 1-voxel SAR, while head size did not significantly change the peak 1-g averaged-SAR and 10-g averaged-SAR values for the same power level delivered to the antenna.

Electronic equipment mounted on military vehicles is exposed to external shocks and vibrations. This causes problems in tactical operation and also causes cost loss in equipment maintenance. Therefore, to optimize the test standards for military vehicles with vibration, dynamic characteristics should be analyzed and standardized through actual driving tests. In this paper, the internal structure of 2.5tons military vehicle is designed in the form of a drawer and lathe, and the dynamic characteristics are identified by experiment, and the design is proposed.
S-Adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) is a bioactive material used in the treatment of depression, osteoarthritis, and liver disease. To obtain lactic acid bacteria (LAB) producing high concentrations of SAM, LAB were isolated from commercial kimchi and from prepared kimchi products that contained shrimp jeotgal (fermented salty seafood) or sand lance jeotgal or that were fermented at 5 or $10^{\circ}C$, respectively, when pH was 4.2 to 4.8 and titratable acidity 0.6 to 0.9. Among the 179 LAB strains isolated from the fermented kimchi products, the genus Leuconostoc produced the highest intracellular level of SAM (1.58 mM) and Lactobacillus produced the second highest level (up to 1.47 mM) in the strain culture. This is the first study to quantify SAM in LAB isolated from fermented kimchi prepared by a general kimchi recipe. Ultimately, the selected strains (Leuconostoc mesentroides subsp. mesenteroides/dextranicum KSK417, L. mesentroides subsp. mesenteroides/dextranicum KJM401, and Lactobacillus bifermentans QMW327) could be useful as starters to manufacture fermented foods containing high levels of SAM.
The physiological and biochemical characterizations of the ethylene-related mutants in Arabidopsis thaliana - ethylene overproducing mutant (eto1-l) and ethylene insensitive mutants (etrl-3, ein2-l) - were detailed in this studies. Two or three week.old mature rosette leaves (before bolting) were used as the plant materials. Ethylene productions of eto1-l, etrl-3, and ein2-l mutants were about 200%, 400%, and 450% compared to that of wild type, respectively. ACC synthase and ACC oxidase activities of eto1-l mutant were similar to those of wild type. ACC content and ACC N-malonyltransferase activity, however, were 4.5 times and 3 times higher than those of wild type, respectively. SAM synthetase activity increased by 50% in eto1-l mutant plant. These results indicated that the alteration in the eto1-l mutant occured before the step of the conversion of SAM to ACe. In etrl-3 and ein2-l mutants, ACC synthase activities increased, but ACC oxidase activities decreased. ACC content and ACC N-malonyltransfcrase activity were 2 times higher than those of wild type. SAM synthetase activity in etrl-3 is similar to those of wild type, while it increased by 73% in ein2-l. These results showed that the block in ethylene action affected the autoregulation of ethylene biosynthesis, so that ACC synthase activity was not autoinhibited and ACC oxidase activity was not auto stimulated by ethylene. When the leaf tissues were used for in vitro kinase assay, a cytosolic protein (approximately 36 kDa) was phosphorylated only in eto1-l and ein2-l mutants.utants.

The effects of herbal medicine on travecular bone area were studied using ovariectomized rat as an animal model of Type I osteoporosis and SAM P6 as that of Type II. We counted red blood cells(RBC), hemoglobin(Hb), and hematocrit(Hct) using Couter`sR method. Each traditional boiling water extract of Achyrathis Radix, Psoraleae Fructus, Rehmanniae Radix Preparat, and Cornii Fructus and a systemic water extract of Astragali Ractiex was given 5g/kg/day, p.o., for 30 days in a group of 4-5 ovariectormized rats. One ml of blood was taken by tail vein at day 0, 7, 14, 21, and 30 days after administration of the extract. The traditional hot water extract of Cervi parvumn Corni (Cervi) was given the same dose as described above for 14 days in a group of 10 SAM P6 mice and systemic water extract of Astragali Radix was administered as the same dose as above for 30 days in 10 SAM P6 mice. Travecular bone area was measured 5 mcm decalcified and stained thin bone slice by image analysis using a digitalizer. In Type I, ovariectomized rats, administration of Astragali Radix, Rhemanniae Radix Preparat, and Corni Fructus decreased in RBC, Hb and Hct. In Type II, administration of Cervi increased in RBC and Hct and that of Astragali Radix was also elevated RBC. In Type I, any administration of herbal medicine used in this study did not elevate travecular bone area significantly except Corni Fructus showed a trend of increase in travecular bone area. However, Type II, Cervi and Astragali Radix increased in both mean and total travecular bone area. Thus, there are significant difference in response of herbal medicine in different types of osteoporosis.

We investigated the interfacial properties of fluorocarbon self-assembled monolayers (FC-SAMs) with different alkyl chain lengths. It was found that the substrate characteristics were changed rapidly with the fabrication time and temperature of the SAM. FC-3SAM, which has the shortest alkyl chain in this study, showed a contact angle of $54.1^{\circ}$ when it was fabricated in an electric oven at $60^{\circ}C$ for the first minute. The FC-3SAM showed a contact angle of up to $76.9^{\circ}$ when it was fabricated in an electric oven at the same temperature condition for 180 minutes. FC-10SAM, which has the longest alkyl chain in this study, showed a contact angle of $64.7^{\circ}$ when it was fabricated at a temperature condition of $60^{\circ}C$ for 1 minute, and a contact angle of $98.7^{\circ}C$ at a temperature condition of $60^{\circ}C$ for 180 minutes. It was found that the FC-10SAM shows an increased contact angle and hydrophobic properties due to a well-aligned molecular structure resulting from a strong van der Waals force. In contrast, the FC-3SAM shows a small contact angle due to the intermolecular disorder resulting from a weak van der Waals force. The average roughness of FC-SAMs was investigated using AFM. The surface roughness of FC-SAMs, which verifies the results of contact angle, was confirmed. At a fabrication time of 120 minutes, the FC-10SAM showed an improvement in average roughness by 62% compared to that of FC-3SAM due to its good alignment.
This paper analyses the economic effects of the water industry on the Korean economy by using Social Accounting Matrix (SAM). The SAM is constructed based on the Input-Output table, National account and Family income and expenditure survey for Korea in 2009. Through the SAM multiplier analysis, I estimate the effects of water investment. As the results, this study has found the followings. i) output multiplier effects of water sector are 5.300~7.741, ii) value added multiplier effects of water sector are 0.685~1.158, iii) income multiplier effects of water sector are 0.511~0.984, iv) redistributed income multiplier effects of water sector are -0.096~0.247. The results indicate that a significant influence on the industrial production and the household income in Korea.
The key to model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) algorithms for transmission computed tomography lies in the ability to accurately model the data formation process from the emitted photons produced in the transmission source to the measured photons at the detector. Therefore, accurately modeling the system matrix that accounts for the data formation process is a prerequisite for MBIR-based algorithms. In this work we compared quantitative performance of the three representative ray-driven methods for calculating the system matrix; the ray-tracing method (RTM), the distance-driven method (DDM), and the strip-area based method (SAM). We implemented the ordered-subsets separable surrogates (OS-SPS) algorithm using the three different models and performed simulation studies using a digital phantom. Our experimental results show that, in spite of the more advanced features in the SAM and DDM, the traditional RTM implemented in the OS-SPS algorithm with an edge-preserving regularizer out-performs the SAM and DDM in restoring complex edges in the underlying object. The performance of the RTM in smooth regions was also comparable to that of the SAM or DDM.
A complete study of the nutritive value of foods in Korea is required as essential basic data in the planning of food supply and demand, the implementation of national nutritive survey and the development of dietary improvement, nutritional education and various nutritional administration projects. The kinds, numbers and nutritive value of foods we consume in our everyday life vary markedly according to the weather, soils, and the economic system of the region. A study of the current status of Korea in terms of the nutritional value of foods consumed is urgently required. For this reason, a study was conducted of 29 kinds of foods including 5 kinds of mushrooms, 19 kinds of vegetables and 5 kinds of seafoods. The foods examined were randomly collected from major markets in Seoul. The results are summarized in the accompanying tables.

S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) synthetase was purified to homogeneity from soybean (Glycine max) axes. The enzyme was purified 216-fold with a 1.5% yield by ammonium sulfate fractionation, acetone fractionation, ion exchange chromatography with DEAE-sephacel, gel filtration with Sephacryl S-300, and afffinity chromatography with ATP-agarose. The enzyme activity reached a maximum 3 days after germination. SAM synthetase had a subunit molecular weight of 57,000 daltons from a silver stained single band on SDS-PAGE. The molecular weight of the enzyme was 110,000 daltons from Sephacryl S-300 gel filtration. The enzyme was composed of two identical subunits. The $K_m$ values of the enzyme for L-methionine and ATP were 1.81 and 1.53 mM, respectively. The enzymatic activity was not affected by polyamines, agmatine, or SAM analogues, but was inhibited by SAM. The inhibition pattern was showed non-competitive for L-methionine and uncompetitive for ATP. The activity of SAM synthetase was inhibited by thiol-blocking reagents. The enzyme was induced by treatment with $10^{-3}$ M putrescine at germination. Experimental data revealed a possible novel regulation mechanism of polyamine biosynthesis through several endogenous intermediates.
